Dude, Tatsunoko is huge in Japan. So is Gainax. In fact, they’re much bigger than Marvel in Japan. Whatcho talkin bout?
Though I’m not sure Gainax specifically is a good idea since they mostly make mecha’s unless you’re thinking of a crossover with cyberbots and a cameo by Tron Bonne in her own mecha.
I was only going to say the same thing about Tatsunoko. I’ve heard of Tatsunoko while not hearing of the other one, though. To my knowledge, however, TvC was out in Japan for quite some time before getting ported over here, so there must have been some degree of success with this matchup in Japan to warrant them bringing it America-side.
What other games have they done that you would consider small-name? I’m not sure of one. I’m just asking out of ignorance. =)
You said it right: in Japan. We’re not Japanese, so I don’t give a shit about how popular those properties are over there. Only reason TvC got a release out here at all is because it was a VS Capcom game, so there was a demand for it here from the hardcore fighting game community.
Ask the average person outside of Japan what either of those two properties are and you’re going to get a good 95% of people shrugging their shoulders. That said… I don’t really know what majorly known property outside of Japan would fit well aside from Tekken which they are already doing and Mortal Kombat. All I know is that each time I see (random Japanese property) vs Capcom, it makes me far less interested in the crossover idea as a whole.
Fair enough. I didn’t hate TvC from what I’ve seen at the least. It looked nicely done, and I mean…they did Samurai Pizza Cats. They have to be a little cool. I can see where you’re coming from, though. I knew a few people that ported the game though, thinking that it would never show its face over here. They felt silly*.
Also, dammit. The Baroness is hot. I would have played that shit.
Fine enough. Funny thing is that Tatsunoko is obscure even in the Western Animu communities. But then again, most of them are narutards so I guess I wouldn’t expect much from them in regards to knowing about the obscure shit that Tatsunoko came up with.
I don’t think that a Jap company doing a crossover with another Jap company is going to spell failure for them inside of Japan if they’re popular enough. Personally I just want Capcom to go with companies that would benefit them the most gameplay wise. Shonen Jump is actually the most popular animu company in the west{I think, correct me if I’m wrong} and there are a lot of character that would work well in a fighter{in fact, the company actually does have its own crossover fighter} so they’d work quite well despite me not liking most of the crap they put out. If they got Kenshiro and Raoh from HNK in the game, I’d shit myself.
I never said that two Japanese companies doing a crossover would mean failure. I said it kills a lot of my interest in Capcom crossovers. These crossover games should be HUGE gigantic events, not a “ho-hum, who is it gonna be this time?” yawn.
So I hear that there’s a tourney in NB coming up in March. Does anyone know the exact date/time/place? I wanted to head out to this and see how much I improved from my appalling display at LGS in October, and also get experience.
They say they are going to have four screens running. With our 40 or so competitors, a break, and somewhat lax running of bracket (Not seriously lax, simply not using all screens constantly, forcing very quick arrivals + setups along with result reports) it takes us until what, 9ish?
They’re going to have to run things tight, meaning they’re going to need probably at least two people running brackets preferably one who is not playing, keep all screens running until top 8, and maybe nix a break.
Of course, that is considering that they will have less people, but still, that really only nixes out a level or so. What is the speculated attendance?
Hello there,
My name is Adam Walsh and I live in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I play SSF4, SF4 for PC, Blazblue:CT(stopped playing this a while ago but I am up for games anytime), and several other games for all the systems. I play all of my fighting games on PS3.
I heard recently from flushes that there is a small scene growing around here and wanted to introduce myself.
My PSN is: zomgMaverick
My MSN is: wingzero_2002@hotmail.com
My brother pretty much owns the 360 as I don’t play many games on there so I won’t give my Live ID.
I am pretty busy with college right now but I am looking forward to play against you guys in the future.
Welcome to the thread! There does seem to be a spike of people living in Cape Breton, so I guess I’ll stop publicly making fun of it. You going to try to make it out to the NB tourney?
Also, can anyone dual-mod my stick for me? I have the board and am willing to pay for labour.
I assume that is directed at me, Drew. I actually like Blazblue a bit more than SF4 but my friends refuse to play it with me. I would have bought CS but I don’t really like playing fighters online.
I haven’t been to any tournaments yet Savage. I would be hard pressed to make it one in Halifax let alone anywhere in NB so I would have to pass.
