Just wanted to drop a quick update on my NeoGeo that I am bringing and the converters I have for it so people can use their own sticks. The converters work just fine with the official PS PCB’s but some of the third party ones give me trouble. Mainly the MAS PCB just doesn’t agree with it and I have had so-so luck with the Hori PCB in the HRAP2, sometimes it is fine and other times it seems to have trouble. I have tested it with many actual PS controllers and all my customs that have official PS PCB’s in there and those work lagless 100% of the time.
If for some reason a player’s stick doesn’t agree with my system then I shall be donating two of my personal sticks for use. They are both Jap style with JLF square gates on both and each are 6 button with the traditional layouts. One has Sanwa buttons and the other has Seimitsu buttons so they should be just fine in case anybody uses them.
As long as your stick has a PS PCB in there it will plug into my supergun through converters that I own. The button layout becomes the newer SNK square style (which cannot be changed), select is the coin button (I set each coin to give 5 credits so you don’t have to worry about that), and start is well… start. Converter works perfect with every stick I have tried except it is only so0so with the Hori PCB from an HRAP2. I have also never tested it with a P360 though I will try and get that done in the next week or so.
Not that I have been able to find so far, maybe somewhere in the soft dip settings of the MVS it can be changed but either I havn’t looked hard enough or it just isn’t there. I wish I could have it like how I played SamSho2 back in the day but since the newer games use this style it is really easy to adjust too.
EDIT: Just for Final Round and because I respect this tournament enough I will rewire one of my sticks that I am bringing for the NeoGeo to have the buttons in the straight across style. This way one will be ABCD and the other will be the new block style for SNK.
Probably Friday but since I got in so late last time I may go early this year and show up Thursday. And if there is anyone that wants to get down on some serious actual SamSho2 I can easily be persuaded to some earlier.
