I’ve been to evo before for vacation, but most of the time me and the wife have an unspoken agreement. I take her on vacation where she wants to go since she helps me with FR every year. Well it’s not really an agreement. It’s just something I do to show I appreciate her help with FR every year. A healthy marriage is about meeting halfway. I won’t ask my wife to use vacation twice a year to be around smelly gamers.:razzy: Once during FR and then again for some random out of state tournament? It don’t work like that sir. When we go on vacation we use it to get away from EVERYTHING! That means our job’s, area, and regular habit’s/hobbies. (aka videogames) I went to Evo for vacation when it was still in cali since there was beaches in L.A… I’ve also been around the SE in different tournaments, but I do have a life. It shouldn’t matter imo, but that goes back to the whole click type shit that i’m not down with.
I don’t even have time to run monthlies in the ATL like I use too because life>videogames. And now I have to look for a new job. I love the scene, but i’m not going to risk my marriage by dragging my wife all around the country if she wants to do something else for our vacation. She is understanding of my hobbie and is very helpful with planning and helping at FR, but it’s not fair imo to ask more of her. This isn’t her hobby it’s mines. I don’t know how many major tournament organizers that are married. It’s different when your a single person and you can go where you want to go when you want to go without worrying about anyone else. It’s not like that when your married. You can’t just think about what you want to do. You have to meet each other halfway imo. You single guys don’t understand what i’m talking about, but i bet some of you married guys know what i’m talking about.
P.S.-If you have a girlfriend that isn’t the same imo, because there ain’t no ring on her finger. You can leave and ya’ll will just break up and that is it. If your married and shit goes down hill you have to get a divorce! Half of your shit is gone when you get back. Not saying my wife would do anything like that over me going to a tournament without her. Also it’s not a spoken rule that when she helps me with FR12 that I take her on a vacation she wants to go on. I feel like i’m super blessed to have a women that down for her man by helping me with FR every year and I don’t want to fuck that up with pushing too much of my hobby on what is suppose to be our get away from everything time. (aka vacation time)
sorry to hear about all that larry but hopefully things will get better soon. Just a thought, but have you considered going to unemployment because when you get laid off from any job, they are suppose to give you a separation notice so you can collect unemployment. Atleast this way you can still have money coming in while you’re looking for a new job.
Heres one thing a lot of you arent mentioning about unemployment…its TAXABLE (its considered a substitute for wages)…meaning you will get taxed and have to pay the IRS a sum of it back…

Dude I got a girlfriend and she would dump my ass if my gaming took priority over her, but honestly why would it ever? I get my fridays with the guys and big tournaments (like FR) thats plenty enough. I work 2 jobs also so im lucky to get the time i do. So i know its 100 times more important if your married. Unlike some people. We have lives. FR is vastly appreciated by the gamers though you know that.
Oh and what are the controller rules for TvC?
I just wanted to add that I have greatly appreciated FR and the effort that goes into it - from both Larry and the rest of the voluntary staff. Even on the years I couldn’t make it.
I can only imagine what it takes resource-wise to make it all work. The other regions all have their majors, but Larry and the crew has made it happen for the South/Southeast year after year.
I hope the rest of the community appreciates it as much as I do.

this is true, but you can only get unemployment up to 6 months anyways, and if he has kids, claims head of household, and has itemized deductions then he won’t pay anything back. I know from personal experience and I do my own taxes every year. I could collect unemployment for those 6 months or more (with extension) and still won’t pay anything back.
This was only a suggestion to help finacially for the time being instead of him just searching for jobs and no money coming in. Yes its “taxable” but if he has kids, a house, misc. deductions like child care expenses and so forth, then he won’t pay anything but will recieve a check.

FR12 is going to be crazy! I kinda need FR12 to work off some stress also, so there’s only 9 days until FR12 and losing my job CAN’T STOP THE HYPE FOOLS!!!
