for the sake of responding extremley late i am a strict SA1 makoto simply due to the fact that i dont trust myself doing that super combo in tournament play.
and yea the best i got was 2nd at NEC 04 usin SA1. the only thing that it changes is that your opponent is not going to be afraid of pressuring you in the corner because you cant really make them pay as hard as you normally could if u had SA2. from what i learned is that if u wanna rely on SA1 all the way you have to have good corner defense and a good sense of how to get the fuck out of there.

PPS: I dealt with that matchup the hard way when i played combofiend last summer. Makoto vs. Elena is a very strange matchup beacuse even though your facing the same disadvantages that you would be as if you were playing vs chun, it’s even more frustrating because if the inability to throw the bitch.
