uuuuh…right.
If you let Q get 3 taunts, you deserve to lose.
uuuuh…right.
If you let Q get 3 taunts, you deserve to lose.
Holy shit Geese. The game has been out for more than 5 years now and you just found that out? How about you post something worthwhile or don’t post at all.
Yeah cause we know how RUSH DOWN Chun Li is. It’s so easy to get 3 taunts in. Let me count thy ways:
-Bait them into jumping, meet em with a mid air fierce…there’s one or two taunts.
-command throw == 1 or 2 taunts
-anti-air jab Rush Punch == 2 taunts
-anti-air s. rh == 2 taunts
-command grab b&b (rh command grab, ex rush punch, s. rh) == 1 or 2 taunts
-connect SA1 == 2 taunts
-other side of the screen == 1 or 2 taunts
-throw == 1 taunt
-whenver they jump back == 1 or 2 taunts
-WHIFFING BACK+FIERCE FOR INFINTIY (90% OF CHUN LI’S) == 3 taunts
will:
I don’t think ppl realize how little damage Q takes when he taunts. I didn’t know Chun’s SA2 does 15%…i thought it did like 20-25%.
Look, I love Q, im a hardcore Q player.
And i have to agree thats its pretty easy to get three taunts against chun li when she has no meter. If she has meter, she can punish Q’s taunt from very long range, and its obviously more difficult to get off.
Otherwise, She just cant punish. Often in the first round vs chun li… i can do three taunts… eat 1-3 fierces and be totally OK with that because i still come out waaay on top… But the fact is, even if Q STARTED with three taunts, you just get aunzed by a good chun player. her back fierce, c. forward tricks compeltely shut down any room you have to advance with dash punches. She will totally punish you with c.forward -> superart if you try and advance with jumping fierces, because it brakes tripguard, and she is short enough to duck right under it… The fact is she just dominates Q in a rushdown in every possible way… With Q you just have to sit there and poke with standing forward, and hope to get a parry into C&DB so you can knock them down. Sure once you knock chun down your gonna do some great damage with Q’s amazing wake up games, but she will probably back you off with an ex bird kick anyways, and then she is going to put pressure on Q with her superior pokes and superiour normals, that he can just plain not handle.
Im a huge Q fan, and hes better than most people think, but in this matchup, the cards are stacked against him.
Geese:
Look, I’m not gonna argue with you. If you want to continue to believe in your “superior” strats that only work in your head, be my guest. Just stop polluting the forum with useless or incorrect information please.
Ok sure. We’ll see how badly Chun beats Q next time we play. It should be a raping for Q, based on the genius information from all others except me.
ilian:
Q does fine against Q. His jab Rush Punch, his s. rh, his high priority jumpins all are great weapons against Chun Li. S. rh punishes whiffed fierces and even if it is blocked, Chun can’t do almost anything if she doesn’t have super. So that right there is a free move against superless Chun Li.
Oh, and let’s clear up something so ppl don’t get confused.
First, getting 3 taunts is the goal against Chun. Since he has a lot of ways to get the taunts in, let’s go to step 2.
There is no step 2. From here on, you do whatever you want, take however many risks, because Chun does no damage to him. You can try all the baiting tricks you want, you can attempt all the parries you want, and 75%-95% of the time, Q wins in the end because he does WAY more damage then Chun will EVER do to Q.
Im sorry, but you are just totally on crack dude…
Chun li’s back fierce and c. forward own any rush punch for free and she can totally throw them out there randomly with little fear of retliation PLUS they link into super. It doenst matter how many taunts you get, she is just going to out prioritize and out manuever Q till hes dead. Now I agree,one of the best parts aobut this matchup for Q is that chun li has a hard time punishing him without super, so its easy to get the taunt on, and drag out the match. Unfortuantely, Chun dominates him so hard with her superior pokes and ability to shut down Q’s offense, that the extra defense doesnt help as much as it should.
Ok i guess weve been through this allready, and it probably doesnt prove or help anything us going back and forth like this. we need to actually play to make our points =)
so come on down to Austin and show us what you got =), always awesome to see some new Q players around here anyways.
Geese, did you by any chance just watch the Jap coop cup 2? Yeah, TK fucked up that chun li… but shit, it’s not a reason to start using Q.
The Makoto fucked him up even worse the next fight…that tells you that perhaps you should be raving about Makoto instead of Q.
meh, geese plays the game too much in his head, and not in the arcade.
That’s totally inaccurate. I only play in the arcade. I’ve tried this on players in my area and I don’t give a shit if people think the people in London, Ontario suck…I’ve played against good and great people in my 10 years playing SF and I’ve seen my tactics suceed always. If people don’t like my strategies, or think they don’t work, they’re just mindlessly hating or just being stupid.
Q can handle Chun Li perfectly fine. Chun Li can’t rush worth a fucking damn in this game. Q can zone just as good as her with his jab Rush and s. rh. Not to mention he also has a wicked UOH which is awesome confusion tactic up close, and works really well to bait out retaliation, and then punish with SA1.
It doesn’t matter really what you guys think, but soon, my strategies videos will be posted on the web, so then you can all stfu and learn.
And no, I didn’t watch the damn Japan Coop Cup 2. I don’t copy shit from videos like a lot of people do. Maybe if I was like that, my strategies wouldn’t seem so damn “stupid”. I guess conformity is correctness in many people’s eyes.
riiiiight…
Well, if you actually do have something new and interesting to show, I look forward to it, but it just looks like delusions of grandeur from this angle.
You know what? I was perfectly content to leave you alone, but when you post garbage like this, I have to respond.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. London players FUCKING SUCK. Some of them have potential to be good if they practice hard and get some exposure to high-level play, but don’t kid yourself, you don’t play against ANY good players on a regular basis. Your lame tactics work because the players here suck, not because they are good tactics. I’m not mindlessly hating here. I mean come on…did you ever stop to think that in 3S, a game where you can get royally fucked up for being too predictable, that using the same tactic over and over is not a good idea?
I’m not making shit up here. These are your words. Always using the same anti-air is fucking stupid. I shouldn’t have to tell you why. Again, this does work against London players cause they can’t parry reliably. But this is not gonna work against someone who knows what they’re doing.
10 years of playing SF? :lol:
Anyone can make a claim like that. You make it sound like some kind of achievement that you played SF2 when it first came out. Yeah, you and 30947803984938094 other people that happened to be old enough to reach the controls.
If you want to argue that Q beats Chun-Li, that’s fine. But BACK IT UP. And not just from Q’s angle. You have to look at the matchup from both sides. And you have to be prepared to take criticism, especially if you have an opinon that differs from the norm. And most importantly, you have to be able to consider other people’s opinions, especially if it’s coming from someone who knows wtf they are talking about. You can’t just assume you’re right all the time.
It’s like if you were to come out and say “the sky is green, if you disagree you are wrong”.
I shouldn’t have to tell you all this. Like seriously, these are basic debating skills and common courtesy. I honestly wonder if you were home-schooled sometimes, cause I have no idea how you can be so smart in school, and be so stupid in real life situations.
I’ve honestly tried to give you every benefit of the doubt, give you every chance, but I am so sick and tired of your antics. I’m sorry to just outburst like that, but I’ve had that pent up for a while. In typical Geese fashion, this is all probably in one ear and out the other, but try to listen to what I’m saying here. Read between the lines. You’re what, 21 now? I think it’s time for you to grow up.
I apologize to everyone for my rant :o
/me does like 3 ninjas and GO NINJA GO NINJA GO GO GO
Haha, fuck Mass just went crazy on you Geese.
Seriously though, I’ll say this. You came to Toronto last year at this time and got owned in 3S by using your “good tactics” against good people. Since then, where else have you been?
If you think Q is such an easy win over Chun, or even an equal to Chun, you should come to T4 and prove it. There will be enough Chun Li players there. Hell, Ryan’s arguably the best Q player in T.O. and he’ll even admit that it’s not as cut and dry as you make it sound.
Anyways, we’ll all wait for the typical excuse about no money, no time, no place to stay, no balls, etc. now.
First of all, Nassim I thought your post was very classy, when it could’ve been nasty and immature like a lot of other people’s posts. So I respect that a lot, and so I’m not gonna post some bullshit post.
First I want to address what I meant about my experiences in SF. I’ve been playing SERIOUSLY for a LONG time. I don’t mean playing just cause it was the rage and I had nothing better to do. Almost all my SF “career” I have practiced with Derian. Now if you can say that Derian isn’t a great player, then you’re lying to yourself. He was/is/always will be a fantastic player. Close to the time when I met him, he had gotten 4th place I think in a TORONOT SF2 tournament. This guy was fucking GREAT. Ok, so I trained with him and other GREAT players for a LOOOONG time. This was back when London had a LOT of AMAZING players. Not the crap we have now. So anybody who thinks or assumes I grew up playing with “scrubs” is greatly mistaken.
Second, we still have great players in London such as Taylor, and John, but they don’t play at the arcades anymore. What we have left is only a few serious players such as me and Nassim. There are a few new people to the scene but they haven’t played nearly long enough to fully develop.
Third, being predictable is one of my main strategies. No, not being stupidly predictable, but being casually predictable and SOLID at the same time is the backbone of my style. I do things over and over, and if someone can’t adapt, then I don’t change ANYTHING about my game plan. If people get hit over and over by me mashing c. forward with Guile in CVS, then that’s going to be one of my strategies. So when you brought up my Alex example, you maybe missed the thing I said after the first part, where it says “then i change it up for parry freaks”. I didn’t say that’s the ONLY thing I do. I do c. fierce in a LOT of situations because if it hits, it’ a free Rising Knee. If it trades, it’s a free Rising Knee. If it’s parried, it’s not that big of a deal, because it recovers well. You have seen me play, I doubt you’ve never seen me change up my anti-airs. You know I throw sometimes, sometimes I SA2, sometimes I jab Power Bomb, sometimes I dash back, dash back in and throw or jab Power Bomb. I know how to change things up. You must’ve never realized that is the basis of my style. Break me first, or I break you. It matters little to me if people THINK (that’s the key word) I’m predictable because I STILL get the wins. And that’s what matters to me. I don’t waste time on flash, or what supposed good players consider skill strategies/combos. I do what works for me, and what works for me works because it’s good strategies and mind games.
Fourth (and this is to WILL), if you knew just 1/10th about me, you know that I NEVER back down from a challenge. Playing good people in SF is one of my FAVORITE things to do. I would ADORE TO GOTO T4 to play good people in all SF games including 3S but I can’t because I have school. You don’t believe me? Well, here it is: I have a CS457 exam on 28th, I have Psyche020 exam on 29th, and a 457 Group Project on August 1st. Now I don’t care if you think I’m a pussy or whatever, and I don’t care if you think I’m not good at 3S or whatever. I KNOW I’m good at SF. I don’t need people to tell me that I’m good, and I ESPECIALLY don’t need people telling me that they think I suck. I’ve played way too long and against a lot of great players to underestimate my abilities.
Fifth, any character can win in any game as long as talent and mindgames are there. 3S is one of the most balanced games ever, and with parrying, it makes the game even more balanced.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHA
oh man…
I am the provider.
No, that’s not true. I KNOW you suck at Street Fighter. Sorry dude, that’s just how it is.
Yeah, you’re right Will. No go fuck yourself.
I just test some stuff out with Chun vs Q.
If Chun blocks Q’s s. rh, she can’t punish him without SA2. Also, s. rh trades with back+fierce while it’s in the middle of it’s animation. S. rh beats back+fierce if back+fierce is in it’s starting hit frames. Back+fierce beats s. rh in s. rh’s starting hit frames. So, they’re pretty equal in priority, but if Q has his taunts in, it’s in Q’s favor by far. Also, I did some testing to see how easy it is for Chun to retaliate with a SA2 after a blocked Q s. rh. First of all, it’s tricky to punish at first, because it has such a long block stun. It took me a few tries wondering whether the s. rh is safe to figure out that you gotta wait until way at the end of the s. rh’s animation to do the SA2. If you made Chun block the s. rh at the tip of Q’s foot (meaning if you push her back as far as possible with the s. rh) then Chun’s SA2 will hit for the first 3 hits, then momentarily lose contact, and Q can block the rest. This could lead to interesting baiting tactics. Since the move also has such a long block stun, this in itself can lead to mind games such as doing Q’s SA1 after a blocked s. rh in hopes that the Chun attempted the retaliatory SA2 at the wrong time and is caught with a surprise super.
hey is that the same will who did that parry video.
