Best thing is the look on peoples’ faces when you combo out of meaty s.HK. It’s weird how a lot of players don’t think of meaties the way we do.
With the reversal window being what it is most people don’t have the balls to do meaties. Makoto says fuck your shit SSF4.
I think people don’t do meaties 'cause most of theirs normals aren’t built for it.
Check rose’s frame data for exemple: less active frames, no combo possible even after a perfect meaty.
i have to check if kara-EX karakusa would be a good alternative after a guarded scissor kick.
Because Dictator is at 0F, and his crLK comes out in 3F. That means you have 3 frames to do it, in the 6 allowed.
also, dont forget that FA crumple -> HP fuki works on him.
on knock down, you have setup to break his charges (except after a crHP knockdown), and do OS to cover every possibilities.
i feel that Dan has a big advandage over makoto. His tatsu kicks beats makotos back dash , ex chopp and it armor breaks so makoto cant do shit in da corner the only thing that stuffs it is makoto c.mk and when dan mixes shit up with shoryuken and gets unpredictable with randomnes (grabb, dp and hk tatsu) my makoto is in trouble. The only way for me to beat Dan is throu zooning with ex hayate for getting him to the corner for pressure. If any1 has any tips vs dan it would help thx
Don’t get scared of Dan’s mix-ups. His risk vs. reward for what he does isn’t that good unless he has two bars and Ultra 2. A very late crouch tech is your best bet, but if you predict his next move correctly right, his throw/backdash/KRK will hurt him a lot more than he could hurt you. The safest thing he can really do is keep pressuring you with c.MP xx LK Danku from afar, and c.MK takes care of that on reaction. Dan’s biggest weakness is getting in on people, and Makoto is no exception. s.MP, f+MP, and c.MP all day. His pokes stink except for his s.MK and c.MK buffered Danku, it shouldn’t be too tough keeping him out. Aside from his KRK, his anti-airs are on the crappy side as well, jumping in on him isn’t the end the of the world unless he’s got Ultra 2 stocked and is waiting.
Rose isn’t the best example because of her s.MK being a pretty tricky meaty, but I agree. Most characters have to go with c.LK for minimal extra frame advantage on block or hit. The only ones I can think of with comparably fantastic meaties are Cammy’s CS, Sakura LK Tatsu, Dan’s LK Tatsu, and Dudley’s guessing game. Ibuki’s normals have a ton of active frames too, but her Kunai is the standard.

nah, like Robot Makoto said, MP’s keep Dan out & grounded. if he gets you in the corner then just wait him out, he’s going to have to DP, throw or backdash at least once & that’s your ticket out…in the meantime just do late crouch techs

A few questions from a newbie :
- How do you punish some of the backdashes? Like Claw for example. I tried some of the option selects (cr.hp and f+ppp) but nothing works so am I just supposed to dash in myself?
I probably have to test every character in training mode, because there isn’t any info on backdash distances.
- Is it possible to perform a kara-backthrow?

Yes, you can Kara-backthrow. The timing isn’t too difficult.

Sadly, Vega/Claw is tough to OS. I think s.HK OS s.MK works on the longer backdashes, but it’s a lot weirder in timing.
Random speculation, but I think Oni’s gonna be pretty free for Makoto if you can get U2 and a life lead. Any fireball he wants to send full screen is going to have more than enough startup to Abare on reaction.
So I found out the horrors of Chun-Li’s hit-box today after extended sets. Seriously, WTF? s.HP xx HP Hayate gets blocked if she’s crouching … IA MK Tsurugi is very strict if she’s crouching … comboing after MK Tsurugi is tough, too. s.HP whiffs if she was crouching, s.MP whiffs as she’s reeling back and it hits meaty, but she blocks it. I played a pretty scrubby Chun today and won 50-50 because of hit-box issues resulting in me getting thrown or punished.
I guess it’s IA HK Tsurugi against her and the other charge characters. Fuck you, Capcom, for making the few tools Makoto has to work with and make them not work properly against the extremely solid characters in the game.
Sakura’s not free even though her Hadouken has terrible startup and recovery. It’s not like they have to throw them.
Sakura also has EX Otoshi to carry her across the screen rather quickly, just saying.
Also, what movement options does Oni have? Rushing slash? Abare. Air Dash? Fukiage. I’m just saying we’ll be in an advantageous situation if we can meet those conditions.
so after a blocked tatsu you cr tech cmp, and then what does that beat out or avoid?
Late OS c.LP+LK+MK works well against LK Danku pressure. I don’t know about c.MP OS, but it might work well for catching backdashes, I guess.
cmp puts dan hurricane back to the ground just like cmk. i use both. They each have there advantages and robot wuts yer avatar suppose to be.
