Hey guys so I played a set against the #1 Fuente on Xbl. Lost most of them. Didn’t feel like he didn’t outplay me or anything. It was more like he kept killing my momentum by escaping when I had the advantage. Mu unfamiliarity man. Anyways I took some ideas to the lab and one solid thing I have is in the corner. After ex fuki> hp reset we can meaty f.mp os karakusa and this kills everything he can do. His back dash will avoid the mp but the os will grab him. If he jumps he gets hit. If he ex runs either way the armor will eat the os and we can react with a jump light. Essentially all we have to do in the corner is get a meaty set up and let him kill himself. Of course both ultras beat it and maybe super. The only thing I haven’t looked at is the ex bomb. Is it fully invincible or hit only?
Ex bomb is fully invincible…key to beating Fuerte is drain his meter and go in hard afterwards
The thing that’s actually pretty retarded about Fuerte that no one seems to talk about it how his EX leg throw has like zero recovery.
So, I’ve read lots of posts that Dan is a bad match-up for Makoto?
Is this true? I always figured it was 5-5…
Idk how his Dan kicks work in ultra cause I remember something about a buff. They were pretty useless in previous versions. Before I would say it was in makotos favor. His dp isn’t 3 frames. He has a few decent normals. Cr. Mk destroys Dan kicks pressure. If Dan kicks can’t be low profiled by Mk then ya it’s a little harder.
She really can’t do much against Dankicks, which is often why she’s concidered to have a harder time against him.
You have to zone Dan out with normals, which can be kinda awkward.
People’s opinion change a lot from makoto to makoto players tho, I concider quite bad for Mak, other sya it’s fine. Both are acceptable in my book.
Cr.MK (and cr.LP) still usually work to low profile dan kicks, but you can’t beat it always from all ranges anymore, like in 2012. Definitely harder now to stop Danku pressure.
Dan has a few good things in this matchup, mostly his pressure is really hard for Makoto to deal with. When you get a instant tsurugi vs his tick throw, he often reels so far back that you can’t hit him with any normal. His cr.MK also low profiles tsurugis really well and his backdash is good.
Yes. To low profile his new danku, you almost have to read them instead of doing it on reaction. (I speak about normal -> danku. Not those done raw from far away).
That means we are open to frame trap…and with his new b+HK…can lead to big damage.
Ixion’s Dan’s Tier list says it all http://www.eventhubs.com/images/2014/oct/29/ixions-dan-tier-rankings-ultra-street-fighter-4/
@ 2 minutes in, is this really how Decapre’s uppercut works, or is it just Makoto’s marvellous hitbox again?
That was both obscenely large hitbox and hurtboxes crossing over to show that horribly possible situation.
Haven’t been here in a while, but I noticed something about the midscreen combos for EX Fukiage. You can just do forward dash into LP Fuki on a large amount of the cast. The same rule applies with that it has to be cancelled of a medium or light normal, but you don’t need to Kara Fuki at all. Sometimes you’ll cross under and get a reverse DP like it’s 3S all over again, but you can make the mental adjustment easily and change your input.
Anyone who has a long float time (DJ, Viper, Poison) will usually be vulnerable to this, but I noticed it worked on others who aren’t known for staying airborne very long (Ryu and Gen for example).
st.HP > Hayate Cancel > st.MP xx EX Fukiage > forward dash > LP Fukiage > EX Tsurugi does 363 damage and 624 stun. Same as the Kara Fukiage combo, but this might mean it’ll work on characters that Kara Fukiage might not have been able to reach.
Dash or kara HP fuki is indeed character specific, and it depends on the move you used before EX fuki.
I’ve written the complete list in my first usf4 video. You can check it on youtube
How are you guys coping with E Ryu’s footsie game in Ultra? Fireball block string is such a ballache to deal with.
Instant saving released in the cmk beats ERyu Hadoken. That’s dangerous but it works. cmk has a startup of 11f. You can counter hit that.
Cr.lk beats shotos cr.mk’s clean.
sweep is also very good at hitting an extended crMK from shotos.
How do you guys keep pressure against good backdashers (rose and chun-li in particular)? Is there any good option select to catch them?
I’m also having a rough time against blanka, did anything important change in the MU from AE to ultra?
Blanka can be tricky if he gets you all panicked but you should be able to beat him with the right moves. I played a few matches against this guy but he wasn’t all the great with blanka.
Against Blanka you want to be VERY patient and very lame.
Zone him out with your better normals. stMP will beat everything he does beside slide, so just look out for this.
The goal is to have lifelead and camp with it.
Sounds like a pretty boring match up haha, but I was slowly reaching to that conclusion. Thanks for the advice
I saw rafalibe using c.lp > s.lp + s.hp OS against blanka in the corner, is there any other useful one?
Should I try to pressure him on wake ups? I’ve been eating quite a bit of reversals trying to go for that :
Also what’s the safest way to attack while he is using the electricity? I’ve found that c.MP and c.HP work only if you are at the right distance. Is c.LK a safer alternative?
