You can also ultra 1 that way. Crouch tech and if you see your opponent neutral jump just do the motion immediately.

Don’t do it on Makoto though, she can tsurugi and beat the ultra lol :frowning: (And I’m sure there are a few others who can hang in the air, like Ryu or Gouken ex tatsu in the air, etc)

Anyone else feel like fighting a good Akuma is like gambling?

SSF4 in general is just a glorified RPS game unless you have some sort of vortex going. Makoto has to play RPS all day, from deciding to beat pokes, FAs, etc. Unless she’s playing defense, she’s playing RPS.

Well, what I meant is that I feel like a good Akuma that really knows what to abuse in this matchup (safejump/palm/whatever timed to avoid fukiage + OS Sweep, corner unblockable, corner fake crossup, jumping in with mid height EX air fireball, using fs.HK a lot, frametraps just out of EX Karakusa range, etc) is so hard to beat that I’m practically only winning by guessing right twice/thrice for stun or baiting DP, both of which only come from getting a very good guess of them messing up/panicking and not necessarily from what I see as outplaying.

Anything good on Dee Jay? I really don’t have much experience in this match-up.

The only things I think I know:

HK Tsurugi is particularly good against his pokes. c.MP is better than s.MP/c.LK in buffer poking. c.MK OS U1, and MP Oroshi beat every reversal except for Ultra on his wake-up. FA dash to get out of the vortex if he knocks you down. s.MK to punish MK and higher Sobats, and failed HP MGUs. Generally you can’t punish blocked c.MK, EX MGU, or well spaced LK Sobat. His frame traps are good, but ultimately don’t lead into continued pressure once a special or sweep comes out. U2 works on punishing his fireballs.

So I learned that Viper’s fierce knuckle feint is fully invincible on the first couple of frames.

Kinda mind blowing that I never knew this shit even though I played Viper in vanilla.

Can you jab it or c.LK?

I’ve been using Fierce TK Feint for a while now to go through normals, and jab/short are the easiest ones to go through. Unfortunately for Makoto, it WILL blow through s.mp if perfectly time, but if you meaty c.mk and option select an ex karakusa, if the c.mk doesn’t beat out the TK Feint, ex karakusa will come out and put Viper in an unforseen pickle. Fortunately, the c.mk won’t cancel into kara, and you can link into c.lp at the least and follow up. You could go for a blockakusa too.

  2. you rush too much. You seem to play exactly the same versus every character of the game :x (you do the same against gief). Peqqi confirmed me that too (that you rush too much). You cannot just dash into honda like that.

Im crazy man lol I rush or die trying, especially when im pissed off , I cant stand it when someone is trying to lame me out , at first against this guy i was patient, but in a few games (as you see up left he got 5 wins) I got so pissed off and rage quit after this game , at first I was using that cr MP thing , but he started using headbutt more and cr MP wasnt doing anything … at one point I couldnt even take him down to half health

To this day I still struggle like hell against Bison, Blanka and Guile. (So… Charge characters)
I just can’t seem to win very often, even if I know what’s coming I’m terrible at punishing them and keeping them on the defensive.

And for whiffed headbutt (jumped)…just dash -> U1.

Hmmm wasn’t sure. Then i have no idea why he’s using U2 vs Honda. I mean the Safe jump OS U1 alone is enough to pick U1 against Honda…
