Makoto combos and strats

be aware of the air stampede [aka, the timbs.]
time your dash properly, and distance it properly because c. strong is alex’s staple poke.
play more of a mix up game between low and high, and command grab often [block stun advantage].
get your ex-parry down to parry his bread and butter knee xx slash.

what kick button do you normally use for the grab, hcb + K before you do fierce super??

super hidden daze animation

i didnt feel like starting a thread 4 just this one thing so i chose the most viewed thread.

first of all, 10 PAGES!! i didnt realize “the mak” (that’s what i call her) wuz so f’in popular.

second, i wuz fighting against makoto in training mode( on the DC of course) the other day, and being the pervert that i am, i stunned her to get a shot of her “sports bra” ( hey, i didnt do what u ppl think i did) and i noticed something.

did anyone know that she has a “special” stun recovery animation? if u let her recover on her own(no button mashing) she shakes her head (2 relieve herself from the daze) and then she yells out(going into a defensive stance): “YURUSAN ZE, YO!”

i think this means “unforgiveable in english”, but anyway, i thought that was kinda cool and worth mentioning to mak fanz. this makes me respect her honorable character even more. she has some of the hottest animations in the game; from her walking to dashing, the PA after a hayate, seichuusen, and even that super-rediculously long taunt. my god, i think im a closet makoto fan:mad: NOOOOoooo!

PS- no other char in the game has a “special stun recovery animation” in the game. i know cuz i actually sat down a went through everyone.

can someone tell me the pros and cons of Makoto? (or why I should or shouldn’t use her)

she’s random. play ken.

I only recently started getting serious playing 3s, and my frist character I found I was decent with was Makoto, but I noticed while in training in the corner if you attempt to parry Ryu’s hurricane kick, after the parry animation Ryu will continue past you can end up behind you in the corner. Not sure where this is due to Mak’s low stance or a glitch in the parry animation. Some insight into this might be usefull

I had a situation similar to this…I was playing against Gill when he did the qcb+k move( he hits with his knees) I tried parrying twice, because it works with the other characters…it parried once, so I think it’s because of the stance and the hit ranges. Let me know if I’m wrong guys…

hey guys… i have been playing makoto long time now… but i aint something like the best either :stuck_out_tongue:

i read all 10 pages… u guys have everything covered

lately ive been using the EX overhead chop alot, ducking ppl will get hit, or quite some blocking damage…

and with urien, if he shoots, u can tech it, u can also do c.forward at the right time and ull go underneath… great if hes near you…

i use SAII coz i just like how the opponent is in my hands when i land that shit…

btw i saw somewhere in page 5 about some vids… i do have a trailer of NEC where i see Ino (makoto) VS J. Wong (chun-li) and Ino win, if anybody wants it, just ask…

are their actually more vids around?

but i do have a question… can u xx or combo something into an EX overhead chop?

fierce xx ex-chop works against the taller characters when they’re dizzy, I think.

also, don’t get predictable with chops. they’re great and all, but make sure to set your opponent up so he wants to block low.

Random facts, and questions.

  1. Makoto can dash under Remy’s high LOVs, how does this affect his pressure game on her (from mid-range and full-screen)? I figured she’d still have to deal with the possibility of CBK.

  2. Makoto can avoid the dash altogether and simply do an EX Hayate upon seeing a high LOV to hit Remy before he even recovers (I believe it works from full screen), what does this do to Remy’s pressure game? What exactly happens to the match-up when one can restrict Remy to using only one of his projectiles and keeping him from building up enough charge partition to start throwing those crazy barrage of LOVs?

  3. Makoto’s EX DP seems to go through low LOVs entirely. Just found this one out recently and don’t recall seeing it posted anywhere. It will also work on EX LOVs where the low one leads (passes through low, ducks under high). What does this do to Remy’s LOV -> CBK pressure in general? Anyone wanna test it out to see if you can use the EX DP to pass through the LOV and hit him out of the follow-up CBK? I could test it myself, but hey, we need more discussion on this thread anyhow.

Anyone got any makoto match vids?

Is it smart to dash in after her SA2 and do an ex dp instead of a normal dp?

fierce xx ex chop works on everybody. They dont need to be dizzy for it to work. Do it after a karakusa, u just have to land the fierce within the first couple of frames of the karakusa, other wise your opponent will just be outside of the range.

Some thing interesting i found out wit makoto (i didnt read it anywhere as am sure its written down), her ex-dp beats 100% of all standing attacks of any character.
So if someone is doing a standing fierce and u did your ex-dp, you will win.
I like to do ex-dp followed by another ex-dp- over 50% stun and it looks cool.
I wouldnt try this in a tourny though.

Now i have a question about makoto myself.
I was using her SAII and i was trying this:
SAII jump foward into med.k axe kick, land and do the FIERCE dp (other direction now) xx into a jumping fierce or roundhouse axe kick.

Now i was able to do this combo about 8 times, so just when i start getting confident and all, it seemed to just stop working. Makoto will always wiff her last attack (jumping fierce). And ever since then, it never connected again.
My question is… why the hell would it have worked once, but not again?
Is there some weired ass juggling property with this dp?

Any help would be appreciated.

Oh ya, this combo does 90 points damage (100< palm super > 90)

how does makoto’s f+short fit into her footsie game? I am having trouble vs ken especially…

I think c.short would be better for playing a footsie game lol.

and if hit do lp hayate towards it, it happens with elena too sometimes that when i do karakusa, fierce, hayate that i suddenly miss hayate MISS, so i use more c.lk into lp hayate more, takes more time, but i dont want no brave dancing all around me when i miss

so does her f+short have any use then? i keep getting rushed down by ken and cant rush him down because i get dp’ed. f+short seems to have good range and looks like it can go over some low pokes… not sure though. also a weird thing happened today: i dashed with makoto and urien dashed at same time and i went under him, crossing him up. wtf?! any other similar situations where u can cross up with a dash ? (i know you can under a hurricane kick)

The only way I could ever possibly beat Ken is by parrying. :frowning:

C.Short: juggle after EX dash punch in corner, then sneak in the kara-karakusa or whatever you want to use.
