Makoto AE 2012: the nerfage

AE introduced Tiger Knee EX Tsurugi. I never see anyone use it (myself included). It is good only for beating tech mashers in an unexpecting way. I actually won a tourney set using it on a Bison player could thought he could just grab Makoto out of everything.

That’s what I mean Mossad man. It was harder to do in ae but now it’s so easy. The ex version hits even lower

haha mossad. You always make me laugh xDDD

lol what did I do?

Your “UNDER -9000!!!” comment, I believe.

oh ok lol. i was on a 2 1/2 hr conference call so i wasn’t being super attentive…

hey, I still dont understand your IA short cut

It is down-forward, down-back, up or up forward, slight delay, Kick.

It is done exactly like a low trajectory burn kick, and gives another option for IAT afor people like me who are having a hard time doing it… Uh… Correctly.

Actually im starting to get the other one again. Probably going to stick with that one. But it’s nice to know that there’s a other option…

Completely unrelated, but did they remove the Hayate sound effect (that whiplash kinda sound)?

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding but how does this motion that you mention fit in your 319 K description earlier? Shouldn’t it be 973 K?

I think u have your directions messed up. Universally it’s 789
456
123

When using number notation it’s the same layout as a standard keyboard:
789
456
123
3 = down forward, 1 = down back, 9 = up forward.

Do you guys know how Cammy’s tiger knee cannon strike is done? It is the same motion.

QCB then jump + KK.

You could do 319 with a stick.

I wish there was a “10 things all (character’s name here) beginners should know” thread for all characters. It could make things a shit ton easier to start with a character…

A few examples:

  1. Makoto’s normals are awesome. use them.
  2. NEVER try to Focus to absorb attacks from Blanka, Gen, Adon, or Balrog.
  3. Watch your opponents movements prior to your wake-up before attempting Ultra 1. (Saying NEVER use U1 on wake-up is silly… as if you know they’re trying for meaty stuff… you can use that to your advantage. Watch for those deliberate, long start-up attacks.)

Admittedly, most of this would be for multiple characters. Even so, I think it’d help people pick up new characters more successfully. Threads like that would be for easy access for beginners. Rather than having to search and search through threads.

I’m not a beginner Makoto… but some of those things are still easy to mess up on if you’re not paying enough attention.

I don’t see myself as skilled enough to give this advice either… I can just feel the “Stop being a lazy ass and just look through the boards already!” comments a-coming.

There is a thread, called “Crafting Your Strategy (for beginners).” There’s also the AEMAKOTO guide. I wouldn’t call the AEMAKOTO guide advanced beyond a beginner’s level, though it’s more applicable at the intermediate/upper level playing field.

FA baiting can work well against Balrog and Adon. Yes, they both have moves that break armor easily, but their safer moves, specifically dash straights from Balrog and aerial Jaguar Kicks, are FA bait for the very reason that Tsurugi doesn’t break armor, they’d be way too good if they did.

Does the ex oroshi, whiff s. HK n.jump MK safejump against 3frame reversals still work in 2012?
I cant get it to work

As far as I know you can’t safejump 3 frame reversals? (Well you can empty jump and throw, but you know what I mean)

oh, eh… maybe i worded it wrong.
i was referring to this setup.

It works, basically a 1F link or so though.
