Makoto AE 2012: the nerfage

Only had about 10 minutes this morning and I needed to check Gief too but I think there might be added utility to TC1 canceling to hayate for a crossunder mixup on divekick characters if you buffer hp or mp hayate into the second hit. I really didn’t get to test but I was worried that for some reason TC1 would only be special cancelable if both hits landed.

This character is broken now.

  • Kara Focus Attack with f+lk now works as intended, as opposed to you FADC’ing out of her f+lk and wasting two meters plus losing the armor properties of a Focus Attack if you didn’t time it right like in the older versions.

On TC:

Fierce xx feint, TC xx jab Hayate = 414 stun/223 damage
Fierce xx feint, TC xx strong Hayate = 414 stun/230 damage
Fierce xx feint, TC xx EX Hayate = 435 stun/244 damage
Fierce xx feint, TC xx EX Hayate, jab Fukiage, EX Tsurugi = 641 stun/378 damage

You can cancel TC into Karakusa, but you are shoved too far back for it to land. That may explain EX getting worse hitboxes. Feint cancel positioning is about what I predicted. You are shoved back a tad because of s.short in the TC, but you are still stopping her from being shoved back the maximum distance.

kara focus?! I didn’t realize that was an option. You think that could be used to punish fireballs? (I don’t have my xbox right now, can’t play 2012 D: )

lol the lvl 5 charge is so useless. even when u stun a guy they mash out so fast the lvl 5 never hits

i’m really hating the decrease in ex hayate distance. i keep missing my apponents, i guess i gotta get use to it.

seriously though, did ex fuki always have more range than hp fuki? i’ve been so out of the loop…

At 14:35-ish Shiro combos f.MP cr.LP EX.hayate f.LK and gets a 4 hit combo. Was that because the f.mp was meatyish from the reset? If you could actually combo out of f.mp i’m pretty sure Makoto would be too amazing :smiley:

and why can’t i follow up with anything consistently with lvl 5 hayate? ithought u can juggle with fukiage… -_-

More goofing around…adding a s.strong tweaks the numbers a little bit and gives you mad style points :slight_smile:

I’ve been using f+MP as a meaty after an AA since Super. It’s really good, and really easy to hit-confirm and combo off of.

I tried a tiny bit of 2012 today. I didn’t really use TC at all, but I DID use s.HK a boat load, and let me tell you, that puppy is amazing now. Godly footsie tool. It’s incredibly slow though, as you all know, give it a little too much use and you’ll eat a fat jump-in combo for free, and hit someone with that thing once or twice and they will probably start jumping.

Anyone noticing anything with c.MK AA? Need to get home to the lab. Hoping for some hidden buffs there… I was able to get c.MK dash under MP to hit situationally but with this new dash…

who schedules work on a patch update day? ridiculous…

In AE I started going for Meaty MP and then combo into HP a lot…I might just start going for TC there instead, more time to confirm the hit and I could mix up with Block/hitakusa (delay version in case it’s on hit). :smiley:

Something I messed around with a little bit is LP,MP,HP, FP Hayate. I’m not sure if this has been brought up before or it if was doable in Super and AE. Sorry if its old news which I’m thinking it most likely is. In the event it is new the timing from MP to HP seems tighter than LP, MP.

s.MP links into s.HP? That can’t be right.
