I played SFII a handful of times when I was very young but can’'t remember what characters I played. I started playing Street Fighter seriously towards the end of SFIV’s life just before Ultra came out. I was mainly a shoto player. Akuma instantly caught my eye but the game was very foreign to me at the time. I juggled him and Ryu back and forth until Oni came out then I started using Oni almost exclusively (hence my username) as I learned of SFV I was really anticipating Necalli as I like the evil characters with that savage look but he’s very boring to play in my opinion. For SFV I wanted to approach it from a complete beginner’s perspective and start fresh. I’ve been playing Ryu since day 1 and am inclined to call him my main. Trying my best to learn the fundamentals of the game with him. A month in and he does kinda get stale sometimes. So I picked up Vega as a secondary, he’s quite fun and his new moves are encouraging. I was always trash with charge characters.
I wish I’d have grown up with Street Fighter the series is very fun and the anime and history behind the series is very entertaining. Waiting for Akuma/maybe Oni? To drop in SFV that’ll likely become my tertiary character.
1.Ryu
2. Vega
3. Urien, Akuma/Oni? (Some sort of DLC character)

Well, so far Cammy. I like how she looks and starting to enjoy her gameplay as well.Started to try some Necalli also, though nothing serious.
When Juri gets added i will switch to her immediately,i used to play her in SF4 and overall i am a big fan of the character. Waiting on old man Gouken as well, gotta love the old man
Ryu because Gootecks said too in his video
Cammy, but my personal favorites in the cast are Rookie Ken and Wifi-Rashid.

Word. Rashid was the character in the game that made me coin the phrase “Mexican Frametrap.”
A Mexican Frametrap is when you block a Spinning Mixer (-2) and then try to regain initiative with a c.lp (3f startup), but instead get CH by their s.mp (5f startup, so 7f at -2 really) because Mexican internet. If you live in Mexico and play someone from Toronto online, blocked Spinning Mixer into s.mp is pretty godlike.

Rashid of the Fraudulent Wins
Nash, because he looks dope and he’s not a charge character anymore.
Dictator all the way. His Psycho Power is unmatched! I also play Necalli, who honestly I have more success with. But Dictator is so much more fun to play, that I can take losing a couple of times for the sheer enjoyment I have playing him.

Chun Li. Always been, always will be.
Why? Pretty much everything that she is.
Birdie. Because I’m shit and he has easy execution. And I can kill people with bananas. I’ve had it happen twice.
Vega.
Him being a command character means I can finally use my favorite.
I started with Ken, but I dunno… He feels a little to manic to me. Like batshit GOGOGOGOGOGOFFOOG which is fine, but I’m not a speed chess kinda guy. I tinkered with Karin and thought I’d main her, but after some fiddling I just found her a little tedious to play. Crazy good of course. But tedious to play.
After a lot of bouncing around and playing, I found Nash.
I don’t much care for ‘buff’ style vtriggers. They make me feel rushed and I’m apt to make mistakes, of not utilise them well… So Nash’s teleport suits me, it fits in well with my version of tactical play. Nash also has good normals with good range and solid damage. Solid super that works in numerous situations… But he really doesn’t feel OP to me at all. Just solid. He has options in almost any situation and I’ve always preferred a character that’s good at everything and bad at nothing, as compared to a character that’s amazing at some things and very shitty at others.
Simple combos. Easier execution.
Nash is the truth. I want to learn Mika as a ‘for funsies’ character but shrug. In no hurry.
I pretty much ended up with a process of elimination that led me to one character:
Don’t really like “Grapplers”, so Gief, Laura, Mika out.
Don’t really like any charge abilities at all, so Bison, Fang, Chun, Necalli out.
Don’t really like “gimmicks” too much since I’m a big newbie and they’re just a pain: Vega out.
Rashid and Ken just seem so frenetic and I just get carried away and mash too much with them, so they’re out.
Birdie and Dhalsim just didn’t seem appealing at all in terms of design or play.
And Ryu is…well, Ryu. I dunno, just always screams “generic” to me.
So we were left with Cammy, Karin and Nash. I dismissed Nash pretty quickly as his walk speed and overall look wasn’t all that appealing. But after trying all three, he kinda grew on me. I wanted to love Karin, but the buttons just didn’t work for me for some reason. Those combos get hard.
Im working on this transition now
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HA.
Wow.
Anywhoooooooo
I main Ryu, Ken, and Cammy.
Ryu and Ken mainly because of nostalgia. I still play the heck out of SF2T (SNES) as it is one of my favourite games of all time. Yes, I know SSF2T is technically better, but it is about personal preference. Ryu and Ken were always my go-to as a kid, and still are to this day.
Cammy, just because I like to switch things up now and then.
The only characters that annoy me (for silly reasons, not for game mechanics or anything) are Mika and Vega.
Mika because she celebrates even if it is her teammate who knocks me out. “Technically” that is cheating. I know the gameplay is sound, and I am not attacking that whatsoever.
Vega, because he uses a claw. Bringing a knife to a fistfight, eh? Hahaha, I know his gameplay is sound, just like Mika…again, it’s just a silly reason.

Been maining Ryu since day one but recently tried Nash, its an awesome character, think it will be my main soon.
Main: Karin.
Why: Oohohohoho!
If I didn’t play Karin I’d probably play Mika (I love pro wrestling) - I’ll definitely put some hours into Juri as well when she comes out!
Laura cause
visual appeal
street fighters story is mud and she doesnt take herself too seriously outside of fighting
projectile: yeah i dont care of its use the point is she got one
mixups/mobility: with her command dashes, resets ,meaties and frame traps she always has a punchers chance to win
usually im the middle edged player and i thought the between the offensive and defensive meter i would be in the middle with a slight edge toward defense but laura forces me to be aggressive and constantly focus on space to get in and maul
i still have to control tempo at my flow but the snap decisions once i get in are exciting to me and accentuate a higher offensive side to me. which I like
i usually like to grind it out and precisely chip you down to dust, take my time like a old water mill
now If i get in the blowups are avalanche like.

Laura is my main. I use R. Mika for fun sometimes, and I’m really trying to learn Alex, though it’s not good so far… I’m also trying everyone else on casuals; as a beginner, it makes me understand their gameplan better, and maybe I can even find another character I can get good at besides Laura and Mika…
Why Laura: I love her mixups. The wake-up guessing games are devious. I love toying with my opponent’s emotions whenever I’m not getting bagged by them.

Vega is a very solid, by the book footsie character. Movement, pokes, throws, attempted escapes. That is his game. Might be worth checking out.
