• Ultra blocked EX green hands, they can’t even FADC back out of it. It’s always free

Another interesting tidbit about this (though it’s not the exact same thing/situation) is that you can Ultra an FADC backdash for some other characters in situations where they’d try to make their move safe.

For example like vs Balrog if you had both super and Ultra fully stocked and he had enough meter to FADC once, so he tries to bait out the super with a rush punch or TAP then FADC backdashes and starts blocking. You can actually Ultra that FADC backdash and still catch him (this works with Reversal and non-reversal timing but it still has to be relatively quick).

Some other moves I tested (A.K.A moves you can probably look for to pull this off on):

Works with:

-Guile FlashKick FADC backwards , Reversal timing (Can be done non reversal but needs to be really quick so reversal timing is recommended)

-Sakura Shouken/EX Shouken FADC backwards, Both Reversal and non reversal timing okay

-Rose Soul Spiral/EX Soul Spiral FADC backwards, Both Reversal and non reversal timing okay

-Vega Rolling crystal flash FADC backwards, Non reversal timing (or else he’ll be airborne)

-Gen’s rolling move FADC backwards, Very Strict Non reversal timing… not really worth it

-Rufus EX Messiah, LK followup FADC backwards, Strict Non reversal timing (not as strict as Gen’s imo)

-Rufus EX Galatic Tornado FADC backwards, Non reversal timing

-Bison Scissorkick FADC backwards, Reversal timing

-All shotos DP + Fei DK + Viper HP TK + Seth BS FADC backwards, Both Reversal and non reversal timing okay (But I’m not sure why they’d ever FADC backwards)

-Chun Li HSU FADC backwards, Reversal timing (Can be done non reversal but needs to be really quick so reversal timing is recommended) … she has no real reason to do this either if all you did was block it.

-Sagat Tiger Knee FADC backwards, Both reversal and non reversal timing okay

-Gouken Palm FADC backwards, Both Reversal and non reversal timing okay

Doesn’t work with:

Cammy Cannon Spike FADC backwards

Abel COD first hit FADC backwards

^Reversal super will work on those though

… For most of those listed a Super would work as well if you do the super late, otherwise they’ll be caught airborne mid backdash. If I didn’t list a move or character above, I didn’t test them.

This can also catch most lvl 1 focus attacks> backdash (But not lvl 2 FAs).

It can catch Empty FA > backdash but that’s a much smaller window to react to and not worth it imo.

The only thing is the situations where I think the opponent would actually want to FADC backwards are rare and usually only if you have the threat of both a super and Ultra stocked. If Chun tried this and the opponent FADC forward instead she’d have to be banking on them doing something that will still get hit by Ultra on Whiff like a grab or command grab attempt. That’s pretty iffy since distinguishing between a forward and backward FADC mid match is a pretty small window to react to.

nice im not sure when i would react fast enough to do this but it would be nice for me to know the timing so just incase im in a clutch situation i can win on that (mabe)
