Madcatz TE to Vewlix Clone completed finally!

After 3 solid weeks of priming/painting and wetsanding…I’m finally finished my Vewlix clone. Here’s the entire album: http://imgur.com/a/VySJ4

Started the project back in July, had my uncle cut the pieces with beveling more intricate pieces cut by a local wood shop. Liking the Vewlix style the best, wanted a modern feel with flexibility. I wanted this cab to go from regular arcade mode, to vertical Shump mode, to regular desk mode.

Thanks to Donovan meyers guideand Kraylix for stealing much of his V4 styling also followed this SRK thread to try and get a super shiny/glossy almost plasticy feel

Not a standalone yet, its powered by my computer an i7 2600k@4.8Ghz and a brand new Radeon R9 290X. Monitor is a 27" 120hz QNIZ PLS panel.
The width is 31" and will be able to fit any 32" HDTV (as long as the bezel isnt absurdly large) - maybe in a few months ill be able to pick up a cheap box and have it 24/7 dedicated. Also might be a while before i add some Paradise Arcade Shop LEDs.

Normally I am not a fan of integrated TEs into a cab. But you managed to do it in a way that does not look ghetto it looks like its meant to be done that way.

And I like the configurable nature

Yea thanks dude - other peoples Madcatz/Vewlix cabs can look pretty bad, i did see one case where it looked decent but the cab itself looked a bit “off”. That middle connector/extender piece does a good enough job of making it seemless…but its not 100% perfect…i might need to go back and redo it. The plexi, custom art work, and moving the buttons to the sides help as well.

A proper solution (while still using 2 TE sticks) is to cover the entire panel with plexi, i just need someone with proper tools to cut the holes correctly.

Looks great mine, so can you put it on Tate mode on the fly? How about when you use it as pc setup…Would like to see a video of it on how you switch from hori, vertical, & pc.

Thanks - ya pretty much “on the fly” i guess…the bezel is just a thin piece of hardboard, i can simply remove it (it rests on the monitor) and rotate the monitor on its stand and slide it inbetween the speaker things. I have 2 “filler” pieces of bezel that i fit underneath the speakers.

The only crappy thing is that i got kinda greedy when i cut the holes for the bezel, unless i position the monitor EXACTLY correct - there will be slight gaps on the sides/top. Vertical Shump mode is easier to place than horizontal

I might make a video - thanks for the idea…just need someoen to rec while i mess around with it ha

What stand is that? The ones I have looked at that do tate mode appear to not fit 32" sets.

Its not a 32" HDTV, its a 27" QNIX 1440p PLS monitor…so its pretty light, something like 15lbs. The stand is an Ergotech Neo Flex http://www.ergotron.com/ProductsDetails/tabid/65/PRDID/126/language/en-CA/Default.aspx

Proportionally - it should look similar to Krays 37.5" wide cab with a 32" HDTV, but mine is 34" wide (total, 31" inside) with a 27" panel.

Someday ill be able to fit a 32" HDTV in there, but it wont be rotatable - easily anyways.

Ah. That makes sense. It was a pain in the rump to rotate my 32" set, which I ended up wall-mounting since I couldn’t find good stands that weren’t a few hundred.
