The only movies that have lived up to the hype this year are MadMax and Kung Fury
Was kung fury and that Donny yen flick? If so that was decent at best. Well, at least the fights were pretty good in it. He’s that prisoner that killed but works for popo to catch dude offing martial artists and movie actor martial artist. Right?
I saw this movie again yesterday and still absolutely loved it. The sandstorm scene will probably always be one of my favorite to watch. That whole sequence is worth watching alone.
Saw the movie. Will pay to see it again. God damn this movie made me want to travel the wasteland and give no fucks.
Some interesting before and after (post prod) shots of the scenes from the film, taken from this article.
And here’s a Vimeo that shows how the film eschews the shaky cam trend to keep every bit of action in the center of the frame.
Shockingly awesome movie. Loved every bit of it.
i saw it again in theaters and it still amazes me
i must see if this is in IMAX or some shit cause i will pay to see it one more time. I don’t give a fuck, it’s totally worth it
Interesting fan theory on Max’s real identity in the film.

Agree with the article. Close but no boomerang and he has a leg brace.
Best action-movie to date so far. It’s just insanity from start to finish. I couldn’t believe 2 hour passed by. The costumes, backdrops/scenery, dialogue and overall presentation is just straight up top-shelf. All 3 factions has such bad-ass presence. The post-apocalyptic scenario the movie portrayed is truly something else- I can believe it.
My favorite 2015 movie(Avengers 2) just got replaced with Mad Max Fury Road. I’m planning to see this epicness at least 2 more times in the theatre. It’s that awesome.
“WITNESS ME!!” - so fuckin’ good whenever I hear that chant! The whole ‘Valhalla’ culture just fits their faction so well.
Warboyz-For-Life!!!
As a movie it was good, but the action scenes are not on par with some of the greatness from movies like Tony jaa’s shit, the raid or even good scenes from movies like taken 1 (which as a movie was good as well, not just the action like in jaas movies) etc.
As a whole the movie was great even, best post apocalyptic movie of the last 20 years etc. The action is good and up there with the better action movies, but not up there with the greats. Not enough great fights, fight choreography or violence and gore to even be considered one of the greats.
To me this is more a what if fnf was actually good movie and it was in a post apocalyptic world. Fnf on steroids.
Was in a small and old cinema with bad sound that showed the film in its original language (fucking Germans dub everything) and since I’ve trouble understanding weird accents, I didn’t understand 90 percent of the films dialogue and was still able to follow the story and the character development flawlessly.
Fucking lost art of showing things happening to get you invested, instead of using fake expository dialogue that not a single real person ever uses.
70 year old fuck that hasn’t done a proper action film in over 30 years, showing directors nowadays how to make a fucking action flick.
Wanna watch again!
None of the films have any continuity whatsoever, and every one can be watched on its own and presents a self-contained story.
There’s no sequel/prequel continuity bullshit in Mad Max. Guy wants to tell a story and that’s it.
He even reuses the same actors for different roles.
if not for the scenes that took me out of the immersion because the CG was so bad and too apparent (and there was actually too much of this imo) and the forced for 3d scenes this would have been a masterpiece. that being said, i enjoyed the shit out of it.
im outi
Roberth
There’s no cgi in this film…all scenery is vfx…
Actually, the sandstorm and some of the rocks in the canyon were.
I knew there had to be CGI but I honestly thought they filmed this whilst racing through canyons. I didn’t notice any bad CGI it looked flawless
It’s not noticeable since most of the textures are taken from photos of real canyons. Even the Citadel, which was CG, used textures based on photos of an actual set of cliffs.
Interestingly enough, one of the bits that many people think is CGI, the part where the steering wheel flies into the camera, was done with practical effects.
To quote from the FX Guide article.
Aside from the giant dudududu sand storm obviously being CGI, I too honestly didn’t know a lot of the scenery was CGI. Movie looks fucking great either way, and I loved that they pretty much limited the use of CGI for all kinds of crazy vehicle stunts with practical effects. Excessive use of CGI would have made the movie feel a lot less brutal and gritty.
Going to go see this movie again tomorrow. I am hyped. I’ve been listening to the OST for the past several days when on the computer as well. Easily the best action film in years.
