Snagged the Blu-Ray, and the game lol
Blu-ray has a bunch of making of featurettes, unfortunately it’s lacking commentary track, Junkie XL’s isolated score track and the black and white version of the film that Miller was talking about including, but the mini-docs were pretty cool, one’s dedicated to the filming process, interviews with everyone etc. The real gems are the docs dedicated to the vehicle design and the untouched stunt reel footage.
Respect for the movie went up even more, the level of detail on the vehicles is astonishing, they all worked. Even the Doof Wagon they figured they’d dub in sound, but Miller is like “It needs to work, and the you need to be able to hear the music over the car engines” I love that shit, just that absurd level of dedication. It’s like Blade Runner, where they went after everything, even if it wasn’t going to be on camera.
And while the film does use CGI, the majority of it was used to remove safety harnesses and camera rigs, or compositing crashes, what was surprising was there was stuff i thought they would CGI, and they didn’t. Miller’s approach was basically, “if we can’t do it camera some way, we’re not gonna do it” Like every shot with the Pole Cats was done for real, Tom Hardy said he was scared shitless doing that sequence(it is actually him, on the pole, for that shot where he’s almost hitting the ground, going 60mph).
Love the movie even more after watching the behind scenes stuff lol.

Is the game any good? I’m playing borderlands 2 again the vehicular destruction is fun but very short.
I liked what i played of it. The world is huge with lots to do, the combat is Batman combat, but the counter windows are small and Max cant take much damage so its quite a bit harder. Ammo is scarce but not enough to feel like you can never pop off your shotty, and there are a bunch of cars to buy and upgrade so you can have your own.pimped out desert ride.
Game seemed really cool, what i played of it was good fun. Harpoonin dudes out of their vehicles, war boys jumpin on my hood as i pound across the desert at 100mph.
Game was shiney and chrome.
Yeah, the Mad Max game is pretty good. I liked what I played of it, but for some reason I only played it for a few hours before I got distracted. The sound effects really impressed me, top notch stuff in that department.
RAGE is awesome too if you want some Mad Max-esque gaming. :tup:
Been playing it this week, it has problems but is fine. My OCD is kicking in hard and I’m doing all the side shit before moving on, so I have way more income and nothing to get because of progression walls on items.
Combat is Batman light. The parry window is shorter, but a perfect parry let’s you get automatic stuns to body them. So far I have no combo finishers and I can’t check in game if I even can. Only similar ones so far is a Shiv, which I can have one of and just requires stun, shotgun blast which wastes ammo but can temporarily scare people, and fury one where I need to be in a specific mode to even do it.
Car combat is…okay? The cars handle better as you improve them, but if you want to blow up a vehicle without wasting resources it is a pain in the ass. Harpoon driver, RAM car, turn around, repeat, wait to heal and get your 11 scrap. It can also be janky to drive around, and if you fuck up could needlessly damage your vehicle and be forced to wait and repair.
I’m still early in so it could get better. But in game wise I can’t even see what locked stuff does until I am able to get them, which sucks to see what is coming up and what to save for.
I do like the story and Griffa stuff enough to keep going. Just would have rather then focus on car shit more instead of splitting ground and car situations.
Mad Max game is freaking amazing, been playing it the last 2 weeks whenever I have time. As Ayo was saying taking out enemy cars is a pain at first but when you get the thunderpoon omfg. Just magical, rolling heavy around the desert with your dwarf blowing niggas sky high with zero effort, or your car is so juiced up you can literally smash them to pieces.
The only fault with the game I can find is if you wanna just do the story, it will become insanely hard without massive upgrades (game even warns you at a point) but its so much fun you end up doing all the upgrades anyway.
So basically Max Max is winning at everything.

I put in about 25 hrs and wasn’t even 30% done.
