Mad Catz SOULCALIBUR V Arcade FightStick SOUL Edition for PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360

I have never had an arcade stick before because I’ve gotten really good with Pad but I want an arcade stick because the arcade feel is aweeeesoome!
So I have some questions

-Will this work on more than just Soul Calibur? MvC,SF,Tekken,KOF?
-How long do you think it would take for me to convert to stick play, as obviously playing on a controller and arcade stick are totally different.
-What are some other good sticks? I mostly play UMvC3, SSFIV, and plan to play a lot of SCV.

Thanks guys

Arcade Stick play should take a week or so. Practice all of your motions with it. That is what I did when I transferred over.

It’s getting me a little bit used to the layout but I think I will prefer this layout in general over the Vewlix now. I have wide shoulders so the extra space between stick and buttons help immensely.

^ If Daigo said that I’d predict sales would skyrocket and everyone would start switching layouts.

Daigo’s a small narrow guy. I’m sure it wouldn’t matter what layout he uses though. -_-

But if you’re gonna play with the stick on lap majorly, it’ll matter to some extent for physical execution.

A lot of my friends just rewired the buttons to being the last 6 on the TE stick so they have extra room. They re-learned how to play on the American straight layout.

I’d say transitioning to a stick takes more than a week unless:

A) You’re not that good on pad
or
B) You’ve played with sticks before (even if it was in the arcade as a child) and still remember all the basics.

Otherwise, @FinalFantasy, expect it to take at least double that just to get “comfortable.” You’d be looking at more like a month or more to be as good as you are on a pad if you’re already good with it.

I suppose if you played like 12 hours a day for some odd reason you’d get it in a week though. It’s all relevant to play time really, but expecting to be good in a week is a bit far-fetched.

I’d say ~50 hours to be comfortable. Kinda just depends after that, but I’d say at least 100 to be “good.”

Also, if you go to stick, then when you switch consoles to play the game, you won’t have to worry about compatibility issues. “Why is my layout different on a 360 than a PS3?”

How about dual mod for this stick (PS3/Xbox)? Is it difficult, what do I need to mod it? Thanks

Get the 360 version and a Kitty TE kit with TE-S harness.

Done.

If you’re ok with soldering, then a ChImp SMD will serve you well.

Soldering is my hobby, finally decided between Qanba and this one  Thanks a lot !!!

Dual modding the SCV Soul Edition from MadCatz is very easy using Toodles TE Kitty with the TE-S Wire Kit. Sart here Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

Would a madcatz TE plexi fit the soul edition? Im wanting to buy a plexi but i don’t know if it fits this stick.

TE Acrylic will fit, because the two Arcade Sticks are same size.
But the Acrylic of TE will not work for the Buttons.

FightStick SOUL Edition has different Button layout from FightStick Tournament Edition.

So is there anywhere i can buy a plexi for the soul edition?

When arthong or blklightning21 get their own SOUL Edition.

Ight well thank you for the quick answers i appreciate it

You could get a full plexi top panel from art and use it here with whatever layout you want, or just swap the metal top panel and get a plexi from another TE (if you dont mind vewlix

If you are swapping the entire metal panel with a panel replacement yes it will fit just fine, if you want just an artwork plexi on top of the existing panel then it won’t fit because the buttons are different.

Alrighty i’ll just wait for the new plexi to come out it wont kill me to wait. One last question, is there an art template for the new layout like there is for the TEs?
