Might as well go bolts/Cold star. Is Dok can go setup flame loops you’re good to go of course having the strange/amm thc is handy. See Moons for Dok annual tactics. I see the team as kind of weak to air dashers/teleporters other than that solid.
Thanks. Truth be told any Strange/Ammy team is weak to that so I’m not too concerned. And he can get FOF loops into Strange. Is there anyway to get a jamming bomb with those 2 assists? How about with Dok/Jam session/bolts?
I know it’s possible to get a jamming bomb using Cold Star (Moons does it), but I don’t know the notations. You can get a jamming bomb using jam session, but it’s very timing intensive, almost impractically so. For that, you need to have one cube and have a hard knockdown in the corner, then: (back dash+Jam Session, cr.M, fly, adf, j.L, back dash, f.H, jamming bomb). I can’t think of one with bolts, but there’s probably something you can do with it to get a jamming bomb in.
Any setup that lets you 6H in the corner, lets you land a jamming bomb with Jam Session pretty easily. If you can do “Call Jam Session -> Jamming Bomb immediately”, and have the jam session hit, you’re gravy. Midscreen with limited assists, you can just do something like fishhook-style jS -> dash -> cLM xx L Cube, dash, cLMH6H(wallbounce), jump cancel u/f, AD D/F + Call jam session, Jamming Bomb, snap, etc.
Timing the bomb to hit right after the jam session, so the jam session isn’t the last hit and you get the spinning knockdown, takes some practice. But I wouldn’t call it impractical at all.
I should’ve been more clear when I said it was near impractical. I was referring to the combo I notated and any other jamming bomb combo using Jam Session when HSD is in full effect where you are able to continue the combo after the jamming bomb. Yeah… that seems pretty arbitrary in hindsight lol. But if you have something like that, I’d love to have the notations. I will look into the midscreen one you notated though, thanks!
im debating picking up Modok/Doom/Ammy just because of the power of the doom/ammy.
having 2+ meter with doom is just ridiculous when u have access to the THC. if you guys figure out how to use the cold star assist as a combo extender please let me know as it would really help my damage with that team.
Also in this video, zak uses the THC at the end of game 1.
I’m wondering if I can substitue firebrand with Modok in this situation. I know it would require me to otgwith doom missiles on the way up, but as of now i’ can’t get it so that my opponent doesn’t flip out during the end of the THC.
Honestly I don’t find Ammy/Strange that weak at all. You just have to be on point with your strange, load up on dropping that THC Strange/Ammy hyper combo teleporting everywhere to death combo and other shennanigans with coldstar +teleport. Ammy is only as weak as your are as a player on anchor.
It could work, but it’ll take a lot of effort to make it work. I’m not the biggest fan of Strange on anchor, and it seems like once Deadpool or MODOK dies, it’s going to be an more of an uphill battle than it has to be. But hey, you never know til you try. It looks like an interesting team to mess around with in the lab.
When this happens, it’s because it’s not hitting them at all. There’s a (very minor) delay between when the bomb explosion triggers and when it hits. If they land during that delay, they won’t get hit, because they’re invincible during soft recovery, etc etc.
When you are buffering the input, the direction + two buttons don’t have to be input right at the same time. You can do something like: H cube, hold up forward, 2 button dash (near the end of the H cube special), let go of up forward
Playing my team more, I feel like that if Nova dies, my team shifts into full blown keepaway mode since I don’t have a lockdown assist to hold them in place to open them up and DOK/Strider doesn’t net me too much damage.
That’s more or less why I don’t like the Dok/Strider shell. You aren’t going to kill outside of XF or a TAC to Dok and I haven’t seen anyone do a jamming bomb with that pair from fullscreen. Being unable to ToD or jam makes Dok a lot less scarier.
Nova/Dok/Sent is actually very strong, imo stronger overall than Nova/Dok/Doom. Another strong Dok team, Dok/Spencer/Doom really need exploring unblockables all day. You get a strong reversal, excellent extensions, Spencer derp, its quite strong.
