I’ve ran into flight cancelled cr.M. What are the uses of this?
^ It’s good for unblockables, combos, and keeping it safe when it whiffs and the opponent is dropping in from above.
I’m just letting you guys know that my time with this game is probably coming to a close. I haven’t really touched Marvel or other FGs for about a month now. The game is generally ugly to watch. I was hoping the game to evolve past this stage by now, since I see it has the potential to. Maybe I’ll get the inspiration to go back in the lab once that changes. It’s still fun to play, but I usually don’t have an offline scene, I pretty much refuse to play online now, and I’m just busy with other stuff. I’ll still be lurking around here fairly regularly, but I’ll be less active since I’ve kinda given up on this game.
It’s sad to see you go but your guide was so amazing it’s safe to say you went out with a bang.
I figured you were done LTP, like the fire went out with your last tournament. You put a lot of time into Dok without much of an outlet so its no surprise you’re burnt out. Shit while I post still I hardly play myself anymore, just active at all because I know people in the scene.
Really? With Moons wreaking havok with Modok, you’re just going to quit? Ugh. I guess I’ll have to take all the stuff in this thread and put it out there even more to the people to see and copy. I don’t like how thing are either, but I think it’s incentive to show off harder and inspire others. If Norcal was taking everything and winning, I’d give up, but the top tiers aren’t taking everything, ChrisG is looking more beatable, and this game’s result are still random.
Anyways, on topic, Modok against an incoming character has both a cage and an unblockable? -.-
I gotta try some new incoming setups too…
I always default to l-bomb a little outside the corner, then sj, addf ambiguous sj.s, wavedash s (to get back on the other side if I did crossup). This gets me a lot of kills (and it saves my assists) but its hard to quickly setup sometimes, like after a snapback.
The original guru, thought you were retired from analyzing too
I don’t play all that much anymore… but the call of science does bring me back to the lab every now and then.
Been toying with strange… faltine loops are fun! Can Modok set them up I wonder?
Someone posted a video with the setup in one of the threads.
Shout outs to all the modok players on stream. Caught brain pipe, hitbox guy, moons, Rubeks, flash and a few others . felt bad for bulbamike. He should have beaten gilty and he ended up getting eliminated by my friend from guam, who knows the haggwr/modok /strange matchup as best as anyone could .
I’m hoping I can go next year. I doubt I will do well but the success of the local players from my home inspires me as i feel that I’m definitely one of the better players here I come from.
You all are really starting to make me want to give up my Dorm with all this Strange talk. Funniest thing is Strange does counter Dorm so hard it’s not funny but Dorm is so Stronk. I got some money matches in this Evo that my buddy caught on tape starring yours truly. I won all of them except for one which was for $500, but I walked away with about $400 more than I had.
One was real fun because there was a XF Level 3 MODOK with a happy birthday + merry christmas on 3 characters LOL
SCIENCE!
i tried strange first and then moved over to dorm, and I like Dorm WAAAAY more. Strange is cool because you can kill a character anytime with x factor but, I feel like the team becomes so front heavy… especially with doom in the back in this situation. on the other hand, I feel like modok/dormammu/doom still has access to chaotic flame xfactor full combo, but doesn’t need to rely on that to snipe problematic characters. The trio has enough options for incoming mixups and Doom anchor is pretty wildwith x factor imo. Or even dorm in the back.
I want to see those money matches! good stuff. If you net $400 and one of your matches included losing $500, that’s good shit in my book!
Well to be fair, they weren’t all bets on my play lol! I played 5 MM’s but I won most of my money betting on my bud Kev who has a godlike point strider team. (He also is one of the best sandbaggers in the biz cuz looking at him you’d never think he even plays like that.) Lets just say it was good times and my grin was jus like MODOKS in my profile pic for most of the trip
EVO was fun to watch. Good to see all the Doks out in force. And I look forward to seeing some of your games WorstPlayer.

Yep. It’s usually optimal too, I believe. You can do something like: starter, air series, dash in, cr.M, fly, j.S, back dash, f.H, hard tag Strange, IP, S, delayed sj up, j.f.H, FoF, etc. This only works near the corner though.
Just got back from Evo. 3-0’d everyone in my pool up until winners finals where Ray Ray 3-0’d me on stream. Should be up on youtube somewhere. I didn’t think I would beat him anyway, but there were a few times I had an advantage and some strange things happened. (Had a jamming bomb bug out and not jam, did x factor orbs into slide and it didn’t combo). Then lost in losers finals to a Viper/Dante/Strider and some PS3 slow down drops. I forget the guy’s name, but he was pretty good, so no discrediting his play. Ray Ray was a really chill guy though, chatted with him some before our match. Met Moonz as well, but very briefly after my match with Ray Ray.
Got to play some games against Frutsy in my room, since I was staying with Angelic, who is friends with all the Mexican Marvel players. Frutsy beat me 4-2 in the six games we played, and I only beat him on a time out and with a lvl 3 Strider. He was incredibly hard to open up and had some of the best spacing/zoning/patience that I have ever played against. Plus he was a super friendly guy, even though there were some language barriers between us, he was nothing but cool. He also had some really sick confirms off task arrows that I had never seen before along with some interesting match up strategies.
I really haven’t practiced the game at all since maybe March (in training mode that is), so I wasn’t expecting much from myself this year. Too much IRL stuff going on, and will continue to be going on for the foreseeable future. But I definitely learned a lot, and hopefully will be able to step my game up to the next level once I get my IRL stuff sorted out in the coming months. I definitely would like to go back next year.
LTP I’ll holler at Kev for the footage. It was probably the best DOK play I’ve ever done. I dropped my combos a lot but I guess online has helped my ability to “american reset” lol! Funniest thing I noticed while doing room play is I did better with Dok/Doom/Sent than my Dok/Dorm/Doom.
Well that and I’m really liking the idea of cubeing up DOK to max power and putting him in 2nd or the back. Only reason why I started messing around with DOK/Sent again.
Nice. I have to agree that online does help with the “american reset” situations lol, but I can’t stomach online anymore. I really wish I could play Dorm, but I just can’t figure him out. At least with Strange, I can be a fraud and get away with it.
And good stuff brainpipe! I saw you vs RayRay on stream and I was hoping for an upset lol. It would have been cool to see you vs Frutsy… MODOK mirror matches are always crazy.

I was hoping for one too =P
I’m just glad I mostly managed to kill Ryu. I at least wanted some dignity in beating the one character that I should have the advantage against. I like to think I have above average blocking, but his magneto was really tough to defend against.
I’m actually dropping point MODOK when I come back to the game towards the end of summer. Going to try out Mag/Dok/Missiles.
We actually had a recording device with us, but just never hooked it up. The more interesting set was between Frutsy and Angelic. Frutsy actually managed to be up on angelic by the end of the set. He had some really smart play against wolverine, particularly some really subtle spacing. Little things like, put out the shield, and just walk slightly backwards. When Wolverine tries to do a delayed jump H over it, it would whiff in front of dok just barely, then it would hit the shield and lose it’s active frames for a dok to punish. I saw him do that a surprising amount of times in their set.
I managed to get strange in for some impact palms after a full Modok double launch combo that brings them to the corner… but it’scrazy tight and I could only get one rep of the impact flame loop…
Strange is so damn hard to play lol
Dr.Strange is a really fragile character, and even more fragile than MODOK is. So I think it’s benefitical for most people to learn how to use Strange by himself if you were to put him on any MODOK team. MODOK can and will die by other characters in this game, it’s imporant for MODOK to not be the only character to get the win for the said team.
