I was having trouble with the Karin matchup online so I asked my coworker for a couple of FT3 so I could practice the match. He uses Karin as a sub so there are a lot of dropped combos and misses on both sides but here are the vids.
I’m a little bit more confident in the match now but I notice I’m not spacing my s.MK properly and I’m telegraphing my forward dash way too much because I’m constantly trying to get in. Someone suggested that I sit back a bit more instead of trying to rush down all the time so I’ll try that for next time and see how that goes.
Why would it not be useful you’re essentially removing the need to hit confirm it however easy you may find it? You get good damage off of st.HK v trig combos
What am I missing in that video? Why activate VT off of a st.HK when it offers you essentially another free attack prior to activating VT? Seems like a totally wasted opportunity. I mean, chances are, if you’re just throwing out st.HK, you’re fishing for a CC. Your reaction time should be fast enough to see it when it happens. Especially with how large of a window they are staggered after it happens compared to say a counter hit in SFIV. I do however think the one with Ryu would be pretty useful, since they are airborne when it happens.
You’re hitting 404 damage off a CC Hk straight into HK with 2 bars, 350 with one after confirming to st.hp xx flame ex special. Missed opportunity? What are you going for?
Again, this doesn’t make much sense to me. The window after a CC st.HK is immense. There’s absolutely no need to “option select” into VT. It’s so large, that unless your reflexes are truly that slow, you have plenty of time to cr.HP or st.HP > Scissor before activation. Even if your reflexes aren’t fast enough, or for whatever reason Bison is in a strange position for a followup, you still have forever to activate VT.
I have to agree that it’s super easy to react to cc St. Hk, but if you can’t, option selects will definitely play the game for you, you just won’t get the optimal damage.
Every time I see someone just walk up, or dash in and throw Bison two or three times in a row I find it both hilarious and sad. Is it just an issue with being a character that wants to primarily be in the down/back position compared to any other character right now, and still having leftover SF4 reactions (crouch tech) and realizing too late to stand up? I swear that I stand up and tech online and get thrown anyway (or hit a low attack and get thrown anyway), but maybe my brain is lagging 83ms?
Then there’s the issue of jump in LK or HK into throw with uppercut characters who can either try to throw you, or uppercut. Trying to tech on reaction to a throw just doesn’t seem to work that well online. Backdashing doesn’t always work either, especially in the corner. But hey, I guess that’s why against Bison’s hardest matchups, you ignore V-Trigger and just use Alpha Counters right?
I’m very disappointed with Capcom for not fixing the lower half of Bison’s main costume. You can see here in the alt that the problem is unique to the main costume, where the shadows of his lower half are not static and very dark.
