Man oh man, since Urien’s release and now Gouki being announced I won’t have time for Lord Bipson anymore.
I mean I’ve still been using him lately, but damn the struggle is always real whenever I go back to him.

@LoupGris I prefer to fight Gief over Mika or Laura, at least it’s a slow match up, in this match up Axe doesn’t exist but HP becomes a go to normal, it’s a match up that I have to be on point with my reactions and when I lose I don’t feel has robbed has the Mika or Laura match up. Maybe it’s because my secondary in 4 was Gief and I know how a grappler like that thinks. Also I prefer that slow match up than fighting a Rashid or Ken.

I dont have much Rashid experience…but Ken is so B.S. It’s not unwinnable, but He gets better damage off of everything at the range that YOU need to fight him…and he can play as nutty as he wants to with tatsus. I’m still waiting for someone to explain to me why lk. tastu trades in between Bison’s st.lp-cr.mp link, too. I agree that Gief isnt frustrating. Frustration ensues with Cammy, Ken, and Nash, mostly. They can embody what I hate about this game the most…Random ass nuetral game.
When Bison abuses sHP Gief can space himself so that his own sHP will retract his hurtbox just enough for Bison to whiff and get punished. Happens to me all the time. Or I sHP and Gief starts jumping around and gets a jump in for free because Bison’s cHP is too slow to antiair someone jumping over his normals. I recorded a match against a super plat Gief yesterday I’ll upload it soon maybe you can give me some tips on improving my game.
Against Ken you gotta play slow and stop his advances. I sMK a lot of his v-skill dashes, cHP is actually good against his jump ins except for air EX tatsu. If Ken tries to cross you up all the time you gotta be ready for jump back LK or LP. cr.MK is super good in actual footsies because of the range advantage it gives you over Ken’s somewhat short ranged normals. All in all it’s not an easy match up but I get more comfortable in it with time. Same with Nash. Nash has trouble against Bison’s pressure. You just gotta find a way in and not let him dictate the pace of the game. Cammy is kind of bullshit with her retarded good normals and the fact that Bison has trouble against her divekicks. But at least she’s fragile. I try to bait her to whiff a divekick or DP.

Ken’s LT.Tatsu has 3 frames of start up, Bison’s C.MP hits 3 frames after blocked S.LP hence they trade.
Bison can whiff punish Gief’s S.HP with his own S.HP quite well in return. Someone posted a match of Galtu01 loosing to high level Zangief in the Shadaloo TV thread. Galtu01 plays a very aggressive buttons heavy type of game and it just didn’t seem to pay off against Gief even though some of the games were close. But while I was watching it I was thinking why didn’t he just cool for a while, press less buttons and just focus on anti airing him and switch back and forth between passive and aggressive.
Everything about this triggers meeee

But It doesnt trade with 3 frame jabs? What sense does that make? The only thing I can think of is either there is a hitbox issue or some a invincibility frame some where on lk tatsu.

It does trade, I know if Bison does Psycho Axe and Ken blocks it and then Bison does C.LP, S.LP or S.LK and Ken does reversal LK.Tatsu they trade. I know Bison has no 3 frame lights but he’s +1 on block from the Axe. There is no priority when specials moves and normal’s trade.
the destroyer of inanimate objects is back!! lest me guess; he will get a 3 frame normal, invincible reversal, fast walkspeed, damage like Necalli, Birdie and Zangief, great AA, he won’t be dependent of EX meter, useful and versatile Vskill, powerful Vtrigger (without further requirements) and maaaaaaaaaaaybe two CA maybe just maybe; aaaand of course live below average because well you know balance.
cool stage though.

This make you feel any better?
Yeah I’m aware of all that, somehow I just can’t make it work. I always seem to do well for a time then make one bad read then I get blown up for pressing a button at the wrong time and get SPDed 3 times in a row.

St. Lp to cr.mp and cr.lp to cr.mp both BEAT 3 frame jabs, therefore should also beat any 3 frame attack that doesnt have some sort of invincibility on it. You can test this yourself in training. There’s also no priority system with lights vs mediums, so the fact that it’s a special shouldnt matter. Check Guiles lk Flash kick. It’s 3 frames, yet gets beat clean.
I’m thinking it’s a hitbox issue. I think the move travels too far for how fast it is and is connecting to with the hurtbox behind the attack…Just a guess. But if you go into training mode and check your blockstrings against Ken set to reversal tatsu you can clearly see there is a massive issue. st. mp X2 is the main thing that beats it…and it has to be at a specific range to do it consistently. Something is clearly wrong. EDIT: Cr. mk works well at mid range in some blockstrings

@LoupGris you have to use HP well has a poke, counter poke and whiff punish but you can’t abuse it because Gief will jump and you have to deal with that, use blast and ex blast in a smart way or save for super or something else.

You information is wrong, there is a priority system in this game when it comes to grounded normal’s. When it comes to normal’s mediums have priority over lights and heavies have priority over mediums. However there is no priority when it comes to special moves. Hence st.lp and c.lp on block to cr.mp beats 3 frame lights when they both go active at the same time instead of trading. Ken’s LK.Tatsu is a special that comes out in 3 frames hence it trades.
Guiles Flash Kick’s have different start up times. Light and EX being 4 frame, medium being 5 and heavy being 6. None are three frames.

Really? Thanks, I’m definitely did not know that lights and mediums are prioritized…That’s a huge revelation. I thought only heavies beat lights. So why do things like zangief cr. lp beat Bisons st.mk at times? So this Lk tatsu being 3 frames is just bad design on their part, I guess…

I’ve never seen Zangief C.LP beat Bison S.MK, the only thing I can think of is he’s actually whiff punishing S.MK as the hurtbox on S.MK remains extended for 6 frames after its active frames end, while the 3 start up frames of Zangief’s C.LP before it goes active in no way extend his hurtbox. A hurtbox only appears when the move goes active. Just an extremely fast and likely co-incidental whiff punish.

Thanks, I truly thought that heavy’s were the only thing that beat lights and mediums. Apparently, Heavy’s can beat light specials too?..Alteast from what a page on google is saying…Damn, I have to rethink everything now. So, now I finally see why they made knee press so slow. He’d be stuffing normals left and right. lol

Were are you getting your info from, I don’t think heavies beat special moves, I don’t think there is any sort of priority system in place for normal’s hitting special moves at all.
Also I don’t follow your logic about Knee Press at all.
