M.Bison General Thread: Come here prepared to fight a madman, and instead you will find a GOD!

Yeah i just said that lol. If we can choose to use a fireball or not itll be a powerful move. Makes sense as itd be dumb to have a vskill that can only be used against projectile chars.

You choose to use the fireball by keeping hold of mp and mk after a successful absorb. I’m not sure if you can punish an absorbed attack with something else though.

You can also only absorb 1 hit.

I’d like to retract this statement. I just considered that specials can be canceled into v-trigger. With that in mind, knee press not knocking down is great and if it’s negative on hit then that’s fine.

J.hp, cl.hk, cr.mp xx Knee Press xx V-trigger, cr.mp, cr.mp xx Psycho Sphere, EX Headstomp

Hypothetical juice.

I wonder what his commands will be.

I’m sure SK will be charge then forward + K
Head stomp Charge down then up + K

But what about his other moves?

All his moves are charge except his Critical Art which is qcf x2 + ppp

Psycho Blast is b, f+p and Psycho Inferno is d, u+p.

Devil and skulldiver are extensions of Headpress.

Oh, critical art is qcf. Nice. That’s huge right there. And especially since it’s a pretty meaty looking AA.

Ok, so psycho blast has basically replace crusher, and inferno replaced previous DR motion (given now DR is integrated into HS).

But what about that psycho ball that travels far and then explodes? The one from the Capcom vs. Marvel series.

Also, what’s the difference between psycho blast and his V skill, or is the psycho blast the same thing?

@exogen

That’s the Ex Psycho Blast. It becomes a slow moving projectile that explodes in the Psycho sphere we see either at max range or upon impact, whichever happens first. So it can still be used exactly the same as Psycho Blast upclose but now has the option of zoning. I think it also hits more than the regular psycho blast and deals more damage, not certain. All versions of Psycho Blast can be used to counter projectiles as well.

His V skill is Psycho Absorb (quite different from his psycho blast special), a one hit parry done by holding mp and mk. The parry itself deals no damage, can whiff, and is punishable. If you successfully absorb a hit you can throw a counter projectile by not releasing mp and mk. It works on more than projectiles.

I haven’t seen how his V trigger affects his psycho blast and inferno. It doesn’t look like it did from what I gathered since his V trigger is focused on giving him god mode mobility and those specials are not truly mobile.

Horrible gameplay but at 0:33 Bison does what looks like an overhead.

Nice catch Rioting Soul, maybe there are other command normals we are yet to see. It looks like it can be done with forward HP and it looks damaging. It appears Bison gain teleport after V-trigger only for his forward dashes, so its purely used as an offensive move. They really want us to get crazy offensive mode with his V-trigger which looks loads of fun.

edit:
Also, Bison builds no V-trigger meter if he absorbed the projectile without reflecting it. However, the awesome thing about absorbing it is it builds his EX meter instead ! That’s really awesome , we got to choose which meter we want to prioritise building. Check the video Rioting soul posted at 0;59

How do you know his backdashes don’t gain psycho warp?

Edit- nvm I just checked the video. That’s actually retarded, no reason why backdashes shouldn’t warp too.

Watch the Video Rioting Soul posted, after V-trigger is activated , the Bison player backdashd a couple of times and it was his normal backdash.

They probably don’t want defense to be so dominant again, that’s why the backdash isn’t a warp. Notice how backlashes don’t have intolerability frames anymore. They are toning down the defense, and making this an offense game, finally!

That did look like an overhead. They are really giving Bison some tools now it’s about time.

Oh, did you guys notice, his s.hk behaved allot like s.hk does now, just without the range. What do you guys think about that?

What “class” would you say (based on what you have seen so far) that SF5 dictator ends up in?
If ST dictator is “high risk & high reward” and if SF4 dictator is simply considered “noobkiller”… What can we call SF5 bison?

Honestly he looks like cvs bison…pretty decent overall neutral game and a crazy vtrigger mode… If it opens the door to high damage, high execution combos that is. What im hoping is that it isnt just gimmick mode and theres some real setupsnor combos/resets involved

True Exogen but giving him warp backdashes seems consistent with the whole concept of his v trigger and is thematic. It is also finite. He will probably go through more changes from now to release.

Medium risk high reward noobkiller.

laudanum09 I’ve been worried about that too. All this stuff looks cool but what if something simple beats it out? Hopefully Knee press is safe enough to be a crutch.

Yeah knockdowns and oki setups seem highly deemphasized, so unless doing vtrigger to open the door to crazy high stun or dmg combos is an option, how exactly is teleports and crazy crossup drs going to do much other than make bison random and gimmicky in the neutral game? I could see Ex ball teleport an interesting way to control the ground and move freely around it with teleport.

If that overhead is actually an overhead, and can be V-trigger canceled…

God i hope…

We’ve seen them cancel standing fierce into specials, no reason Bison won’t be able to cancel his overhead.

I think V Devil’s Reverse, V Skulldiver, and even V Headpress will be obscenely good and will open ways of comboing into Psycho Crusher hard. I think you can cancel sk and psycho blast also into his CA. Bison basically has more combo potential in this game than he ever has.

But since we aren’t playing in a vacuum, will it be enough against the tools of other fighters? The 3 other reveal characters have some crazy utility and options to play with.

Also do you guys think Psycho Inferno has overhead potential? I mean does it need to be blocked low or high?
