Stopped reading at the bold, know why? Bioshock has plenty of story, cut scenes, and in game reading material to help you learn about what is going on. Along with audio clips. You are being extremely hypocritical, and back peddling hard. Part of the MvC3 hype was the crazy trailers that hinted at more than just ‘Galactus is coming’.
You really can’t compare MvC3 to TF.
EDIT: Oh, and in Blazblue I get to select which sound track that we listen to. A simple option, but an awesome one. I also get to watch matches in progress, and not 2 cards fighting each other to digital paper death.
I’m really starting to question how much Lupinko even knows this time around. His hints are far too vague to be taken seriously, he’s strongly hinted at some characters who were obvious anyway like Strider and Frank, but he’s now hinted at like 20 seperate characters, and let’s face it, “red” can be applied to probably 50 percent of the capcom/marvel universe.
My guess is he doesn’t know much at all this time around, and he is trying to throw out as many hints as possible so that when the roster comes out, he can try and argue that some of the hints were for the characters on the new game.
If he wants to continue to be taken seriously then he should reveal at least a couple of the characters.
Well that seems obvious, but I’m talking motives. Wesker and Chris is a given, but what about all the other characters? It’s just a shame that they didn’t wrap up any of the events that took place.
The text is fully narrated and there are cutscenes for key events. I’m not defending the method but at least the effort was there for a budget console port, which was the initial argument.
And really, regardless of how it’s presented the joke endings in the 2 Blazblue story modes are probably one of my most fond memories of the series despite playing over 5,000 matches in the series over the past 3 years. Adds a bit more character to the fights on top of the custom dialouge that’s already there.
But I could care less about story in my fighting games, only upset about Marvel’s because of how much it was boasted about pre-launch.
Anyway, can’t wait for that Phoenix Wright reveal trailer though, hyped more for that “Cornered - AA1 Version” remix more than anything else.
Also hoping for TvC Roll over any form of Megaman. Hater’s gonna
so hows the character list looking ? megaman was kinda leaked by lupinko on his twitter so u can add him to the list
Apparently you haven’t played Bioshock. You should, it is a decent game.

I have, the the game has 2 cut scenes. One at the beginning, and one at the end, each lasting under 30 seconds.
My wish list for MvC3 is this:
- Spectator Mode
- VS CPU Mode
- Survival Mode
- Time Attack (Or add a timer to Arcade Mode)
- Score Attack Mode (Really hard preset battles, having like the last match have Magneto do his ROM loops and just be cheap)
- Cross Team Mode (Online, play with friends controlling their respective character)
- Team Mode (pit 3 players vs 3 player or more)
- Lobby Customization (Make your own name, fix the timer, damage output)
I would love to have all those features, sadly it will never happen. I do rather have all this than a Story Mode, but it would be nice if they put it in for the fans who really wanted it.

Err, I was talking about MvC. I’m okay with Blazblue.
This has already been cleared up. Go back some pages.
Wrong. The game has plenty of mini-cut scenes. Like watching the big daddy and the little sister for the first time, and the guy getting drilled into the wall. Just one example.
Anemone, try to understand the following:
Nobody gives a flying fuck how the story is conveyed inside the game. They just want it to ACTUALLY BE CONVEYED INSIDE THE GAME.
You’re constantly comparing video games to movies/comics/etc and saying that games shouldn’t need to rely on the others, when you fail to understand that they are a completely different medium that is perfectly capable of including all of the others. Music, Drawing, Cinematography, etc. Not only are they able to do that, they are EXPECTED to do that, and in increasingly original ways.
have you ever heard of ninja gaiden? The original one? Shit was hype and super revolutionary with its… CUTSCENES. These things have never been a problem in gaming. They are a small pause to players to enjoy more than gameplay without having to constantly press buttons and let the actual setting pass right by them. They are a necessity.
Besides, you cannot incorporate story in a fighting game simply by utilizing the little space you are left in the beginning of the match for character one-liners. You absolutely NEED these extras to do so.

Just because they’re in-game does not mean they’re not cutscenes. Or are you claiming the Andrew Ryan scene is gameplay?

My problem with this post is that Capcom/Marvel both have the resources to maintain a decent balance and create a good story for the game. It’s clear to anyone with half a brain they bullshitted the story portion of the game so that Capcom could meet the fiscal year on a “high note.” There was no effort put into writing, I have no clue what you are talking about. Any person(s) with significant fandom in both companies could have made up similar quotes and an even better end storyboard for a lot of the characters.
Speaking of tag in and out quotes, a good number of people knew from the get go some characters would put a spin on people’s names when we all got to see betas. And NO ONE under appreciates these little things, where are you getting these facts from?
The premise is this: People knew Capcom wouldn’t spend a lot of time creating a story. However, not many expected the storyboards to be so terrible-- it was like the most complained about feature of the game day one out of release. Capcom could have done much better.
Out of that entire wishlist. The only thing I agree with is spectator mode.

I mostly agree with this, but I think the bigger issue is that games, by definition, are primarily an interactive medium and not a storytelling medium. Games are an arrangement of rules, with tools created to work within that rule set towards an ultimate goal. By putting storytelling into the picture, it’s pretty much automatically becoming a hybrid media form.
Yeah…this has already gone to “What is a game?” territory…
Also, games like Bioshock and Half-Life use cutscenes too, they just keep the camera focused in first-person. Control is still taken away from the player to varying degrees for scripted storytelling events.
Two reasons why I don’t play the game as much as I’d like to. There’s only so much time you can spend in training mode and then resort to LMHS > MMHS > OTG Hyper because none of your shit works.
I actually like the still frame narration story telling BlazBlue had. Sadly, BlazBlue’s story is boring and dull, and way too full of anime cliches. Not that MvC3 would be better at all, but I still hope to see a good story brought out with the still frame story telling in the future. I actually liked Battle Fantasia’s story and still frame movements, they are on a higher plane that Blazblues story mode. BF may be kiddy and just out right weird, but it amused and entertained me more than BB, sadly it fell hard.
I agree with you, reason I didn’t list better Online netcode is simply because I believed we would get a better netcode or upgraded one. But sometimes assuming is bad. It might not even happen.
