Well since the funs gone and no hints for awhile what will we discuss? Jill’s tweaking, Strider hypers, Phoenix Hypers? This thread is depressing.

Capcom… doesn’t like Megaman. With how the character is treated compared to their other franchises, you’d think he was an experiment fabricated a few years ago and that RE and DMC far out-dated him. Until I see a MM game with the same, care, budget and marketing as their other big titles/as other bigger mascots (Mario, Sonic, DK, even fucking Spyro has gotten more current-gen love), I still stand by that belief.
As for being on topic… I really hoped for Jubilee. Shit, all I got left is Strange, and he’s a distant 3rd unfortunately. Boo~
didn’t the creator of Megaman leave capcom or something? would it have something to do with that? damn, I was pretty excited about MML3. fond memories of the first game as a kid, and the second one I liked but didn’t get to finish since by then everyone was on the PS2 hype train.
edit: btw, the official IGN article regarding the cancellation is up- http://ds.ign.com/articles/118/1182468p1.html

Spyro, really?
I thought Insomniac was mainly doing R&C.
“The balls”? Megaman is a old franchise that isn’t nearly as popular as Resident evil, DMC, Street fighter. Them canceling MML3 has no relevance as to what they’d pull in the future, or the future of fighting games cause they’d do it anyway. The whining about MML3 has nothing to do with MvC3, and after that giant fucking stink fest 8 pages ago about things staying relevant to the topic you’d of thought it wouldn’t of got this far.

Eh, I’ll bite. I’m depressed by the Megaman Legends thing, but let’s move on.
What kind of tweaks would Jill need? I never played her much so I don’t really know if there was something wrong with her. Also, I wonder if they’re going to do something about Dark Phoenix? Personally I’d change it to a level 3 power up hyper that didn’t give her health back.
I have to agree with you. No new Darkstalkers, no new Onimusha, no new Breath of fire. Capcom seems to be so sided towards those that sell but they really shouldn’t forget fanbases for the others. They just seem to pull out new games and those which are successful get sequels and those which aren’t get binned.
Phoenix needs a complete overhaul. She should be changed into a real character, with as Jamp said a level 3 super that turns her into a much, much lighter version of dark phoenix.
She is tons of fun to play as normal Phoenix, but she is soooo wimpy.
Cliff approves of your table flipping tenacity.
I really don’t care who we get now, tbh. Just that we get them soon and in the form of a thrifty DLC pack, along with balance patches and alt costumes.
Still kinda of bummed that nobody ever got me a Jem-Hulk…
Kuza: I’ll admit I’m a pretty big fan of the Legends series, and see it as part of Capcom’s identity. They do… ah, did feel the same way themselves, adopting the Servbot as one of their mascots. To me, Marvel vs. Capcom is a celebration of the entirety of Marvel’s and Capcom’s history, and I was happy to see Tron in MvC3 as a celebration of the Legends portion of Capcom. To have Legends 3 taken away from us… it hurts. I had money set aside specifically for it, and this kind of stings my enthusiasm for Capcom in general. It also makes me much less sympathetic to their requests for secrecy so they can build hype around upcoming releases; if they’re going to pull nasty surprises like this then I have no respect for their desire to gradually release info. I am perhaps odd in this; I prefer knowing up front exactly what I’m getting when I buy a game, no secrets, no unknown unlockables, etc.
Put more mechanically (or with less of a soul?), I view game purchases as “I put in $X for Y amount of fun, and I want as much info as possible to help me quantify Y.” Lupinko’s leak for regular MvC3 was greatly appreciated since it did just that. Once I realized he was legit and his info was accurate, I was able to determine that MvC3’s roster was sufficiently creative and hit enough high points for me that I wanted to buy it, so I did. In contrast to the typical hype-cycle behavior expectation, the leak solidified my decision to purchase the game. It could do the same for UMvC3 as well, hence my hoping he and/or Chibi will come forth with explicit info.
Getting back on topic, I’ll probably still buy UMvC3 but would love to have more concrete info just to be sure I want to devote time in my schedule and budget money for it. I think my hopes are realistic; I’m wanting to see a SSF4AE style distribution (disc and DLC), with about 10-16 new characters (I’d call 12 my realistic number for this, which matches most of the common rumors). Hopefully, there would be some balance changes and engine tweaks… especially engine tweaks, as I think the DHC Glitch is having a choking effect on team design and X-Factor was a good idea but is perhaps a little too severe in its current form.

Maybe it was all just 3ds issues, i don’t think capcom will actually throw away megaman like that.
Lupinko’s last tweets really did look like an obvious megaman tweet
He tweets, “Megaman is cooltrash* pass it on” after he said he was going to leak the thing to get back at capcom.
Cooltrash = leaked
Why would it be 3DS issues? Mercenaries 3D and Super Street Fighter IV 3D are among the best sellers on the system.

Take off the tinfoil hats, folks. This in no way affects other Capcom products. It was cancelled but remember, the project was never greenlit. It was on the edge of cancellation since it was announced and the producers never guaranteed this would take off.
It annoys me that they never bothered to release the paid demo, but this is most likely related to the poor 3DS performance worldwide.
I gotta agree. Phoenix is loads of fun, but with the way she is built you either use her as the braindead crutch everyone hates or she dies in the process.
Phoenix being a legit character instead of a stupid gimmick starts by removing her ressurrection. Give her twice as much health, a 10 second Dark transformation for 3 meters and get X-Factor Lvl 3 the hell out of the game and we’re good to go.

I’ve done OJT for an MMORPG, the video game industry has ALLOT of politics that it is hard to describe. There some issues with various systems that only an actual representative can be talked to to make sense out of everything.

cooltrash = trashed.
megaman is trashed.
atleast that’s the way I see it.

Who knows. It’s probably just as you said. It’s another franchise tossed to the wayside for what is now considered to BE Capcom. I myself love it all, which is whi I hate to see so much of it just… die. You literally have no idea how much I would UNLOAD in my pants if Ryu was in… You just don’t know.
But I’m old at 19, so it’s whatevs.
As for tweaks… What about Cap/Arthur/Hsien-Ko? Can they get attention above all else? I’d prefer leaving nerfs until AFTER we make the weak characters strong. Then the nerfs won;t seem so necessary and no one has to drop/re-learn a character (For the worse).
…Except for Dark Phoenix. That is just trolling.
Well tweak wise that little teleport thing she does gets annoying when she tries to pull off the low combos but mainly what I hate about her is her gun hyper, that being her only reliable attack it shouldn’t be so scattered to get the full benefit you would have to cartwheel them into it. As for Phoenix I wouldn’t mind a Dark Phoenix nerf only if they give Phoenix higher health for me I can just about obliterate a full team with just Phoenix, Dark Phoenix is just added bonus.

You didn’t read his tweets.
"maybe i should publish all dem secrets in #cooltrashmagazine"
Cooltrash is from Jem and the holograms… and that tweet implied a code for leaks.
so do you guys think umvc3 will come in 2 directions? meaning one for a whole update via online of characters and supposedly new modes for the current mvc3 disc, or a complete new retail disc that already comes with everything on it.
