CapCom would be too, but for fans of MvC2. There’s already plenty of characters for that.
On the other hand, it would be bad fucking ass if Capcom announced new Strider/CapCom/whatever games to tie in with their inclusion in MvC3: Still no Phoenix Wright Edition

Good and fair point, however Haggar and Arthur have headlined multiple games of there own series.
CapCom was just from Captain Commando… nothing more.
I don’t know how much that weighs in on making it into the character roster slots, we’ll see.
The PSP ghouls 'n Ghosts game is pretty good, and fairly recent. Final Fight on XBLA with GGPO is pretty cool too. Can’t really compare Arthur and Haggar to Captain Commando whose last game was 1995, and is probably more recognizable for his role in MvC2 than his own game.

returning icons would make it more of a 3rd installment of Marvel vs capcom 3. There is no fighting game series that leaves out it’s most popular characters in later installments unless they’re dead in the cannon manga/series. That’s like having street fighter 5 and booting out ryu, chun, ken, and bison for some new dudes… should we give the logic “this is street fighter 5, not street fighter 4.2” Strider, Commando, and Jin where loved representatives of Capcom in this fighting game series. To us, they are capcom of marvel vs capcom.

There *IS *a legacy to uphold here, y’know? Besides, other characters like Magneto and Storm are 2 of the oldest characters in the series (CotA) and they’re in (yeah yeah, chips and scoops). Call it nostalgia if you will but us old fogeys kept this shit alive, I think we deserve a little something here. Let Capcom mangle and nerf the controls and system mechanics all they want for all those new kids who they want to attract but for us fossils just give us the characters that are decisively “VS” veterans and I’ll call it a day; no matter how hackney they play we’ll make that shit work.

My fisrt Versus was MvC2. Played it as a tyke in the local skating ring. 1st character I chose? Megaman. That was my first taste of fireball spamming. Yum. At this point, the idea of him ever being in Marvel is preposterous, given Niitsuma thinks he doesn’t have enough moves… and too many moves as well, but still, him and dat Strider would be amazing. I used him as well as Tron too, but they both got bodied from the lack of a charge shot.

I heard a rumor that on June 30th Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will have DLC characters Frank West, Spider-Woman, MegaMan X and Ms. Marvel, is that true? — Anthony

I have a feeling they really are planning to release some new content for the game, but the wait so far probably has to do with copyright issues.

Okay, I think I know what to expect here:
Come Comic-Con, New York or San Diego, a premium update for MvC3 will be announced. It will be in the vein of SSF4AE, though I doubt there will a disc release (as that may be legally messy license wise). As another poster mentioned, it may have a new subtitle to replace Fate of Two Worlds. It’ll be a fat download, featuring 4 to 8 new characters (I’m thinking 6). There will be a general update to the whole roster, of course. XF3 will likely get a time duration nerf, but it’s unlikely the whole system will get overhauled. Spectating may get added at the expense of number of players in a lobby (reduced to 6, maybe even 4). Replay theater doesn’t look likely.
With a new game in the making, fan demand, and having a working base in TvC, Mega Man Volnutt looks likely. Gambit and Venom’s standing in polls will not be ignored. Doc Oct and Frank West may have assets already for MvC3. Elektra is sexy. Strider is sought after from the tourny kiddies. Then there’s Phoenix Wright. Even number of Marvel and Capcom characters right there. An ‘enhanced AI’ version of Dark Phoenix may become the new boss, or maybe a secret one. Locate the legacy actors of these characters and follow their twitter, facebook, whatever fanpage and look for curious updates. Alyson Court posted pics of her in the booth before Claire Redfield was revealed in RE: Mercenaries.
$15, with extra revenue gained by holding two characters for DLC. Alt attire DLC will be likely, with a patch adding alt colors to the existing pack.
