I’ll be honest. If i had the choice to choose to own a brand new Ferrari or have strider in the game… i’d pick strider, and i won’t give a fuck about any opinion on that.
I also want Spiral for marvel also… she was one of the best mind game characters in COTA… they should bring her in with a different style of gameplay than the sword trapper/lockdown in MVC2.
Let’s be real for a sec: MvC3 Strider would simply not play like MvC2 Strider. His inclusion may make Strider fans happy, but not Strider ‘the fighting game character’ fans. This isn’t an argument against his inclusion, because unlike a great many morons here, I like seeing people get their favorite characters in.
They will not put in Captain Commando, for the same reason they will not put in Cable:
Capcom is actively discouraging the most memorable aspects of both of those characters (get-off-me assist and zoning, respectively). It is not an accident that the defensive assists in this game are extremely limited and that the zoning in this game is full of holes (to say nothing of the fact that you build almost as much meter by being zoned as you do by zoning).
I don’t really care who they put in at this point, besides Gambit. I would form a team around him the day they announced him. I’d love some Nightcrawler, cause he’s another favorite, but thats just me and is MORE than incredibly unlikely.
Imagine if they put in Dan… and he had a taunt assist… that drained meter.
Moto Kikaku needs to stop being a bunch of douches and just give up Strider’s damn rights to Capcom. It’s not like they’re doing anything with the character!
i agree man. Strider-Dante would be a nice team to use… two characters with a nice set of mind games and versatile gameplay.
If strider does get in the team… i will seriously main Strider/dante/deadpool or strider/dante/zero.
There was some guy in capcom unity that posted “fantasized” move sets for an MVC3 strider, in one of their “move set building” threads… i’ll try to locate it.
I would switch the commands for Formation B and Formation C. I’d rather charge back to call the bomb drop than charge down and be stuck waiting for it. If I’m going to charge down and have to sit there, let it be for the drone which stays on Strider anyway. And add the double tap he has on M as well on L so Strider would get his magic series back, being L,L,M,M,H,f.H or L,L,M,M,H,S. I don’t like him losing the LP completely, that wrecks him. He’s a ninja, ninjas need finger tapping. Regarding the assists, keep Beta as Gram; change it to H version for range. Change Alpha out for Formation A (Tiger)(groundbounce) OR Ame no Murakumo L (hard knockdown)[GTFO me assist], Change Gamma out for Excalibur M, have him go diagonal up as an AA. Ouroboros might need to last longer OR do more chip damage if you can’t whiff for meter. Otherwise you’ll never pull them out like party favors like before. Then again I don’t know what he means by 10 seconds.
i think oroborus should be level 3 though, for this guy to be balanced. I can imagine him loading orbs again every meter he gets… it’s something that will destroy everybody in the game.
Honestly, it seems as if the person you linked to has little to no understanding of Strider’s moves and how they mesh together. The commands look way off. Also, Strider with a LVL3 Ouroboros is plain wrong, it’s an entirely different character. LVL1 Ouroboros’ all day-everyday is Strider’s M.O., lockdown professional.
Strider’s Ouroboros would probably have the same restriction as other characters that get a “power up” type super, you can’t build meter while it’s active. It would suck big time but I see Capcom doing that, even if they really shouldn’t.
Strider/Doom, as implemented in MVC2, would not work at all in MVC3.
Pushblock reduces chip, so the strategy itself is less effective as a base.
Opponent gains meter on block (about 60-70% as much as the attacker), meaning that your opponent will have a HUGE meter advantage (remember, you are using up your meter to power this trap).
XFC means that at any point Strider and Doom are on the same side of the screen (and sometimes when they aren’t!), your opponent can XFC-> super (->DHC) and get a two character kill. Keep in mind that in MVC3, all non-super projectiles lose to all super projectiles, meaning that something like XFC Okami Shuffle -> Hailstorm will clear the screen of all rocks/tigers/birds (probably rings, too) and kill two characters.
This is all presuming that Strider still builds meter during orbs (which is not unprecedented in MVC3; Arthur still builds meter during gold armor). If Strider can’t build meter during orbs, why even bother putting him in the game? You might as well put in Strider Hien or Matic or instead.
