That’s why I’m just great

Even with literally no other context I would rather they say this than “lol idk”. It’s the barest minimum of a starting point, but it’s something.

Fighting games aside, it always pisses me off when you ask people anything and they respond with “idk” when they clearly do or obviously didn’t apply any thought your question. I hate the fuck out of avoidant, zero effort answers.

This guy wasn’t that though, he just plays almost entirely on instinct and doesn’t really think much about what he’s doing or why. Natural talent in that regard. I think he’s got international top 8s in SFIV and a national title in Soul Calibur under his belt too.

He also knew less about his character (Hwoarang) than most other people in the room and was still beasting. It was pretty weird.

So this wasn’t a case of not wanting to give feedback or him being so much better than me that there wasn’t any point in saying anything (I was beating him by the end of the night). It’s just a bit baffling when his approach to thinking about FGs (or rather, not thinking about them, just playing) is so fundamentally different from mine. That’s why I commented on it in the first place.

That’s easy to say. But what is there to be positive about? My gameplay is objectively shit right now, just watch any one of my matches

I can’t anti-air half the time, I can’t deal with crossups
I can’t adapt, I’ll go for the same thing repeatedly that isn’t working or I fall for the same gimmick 50 times and never change how I respond to it
I can’t play neutral
My reactions are awful

There’s nothing to be positive about, I don’t have anything good going for me to begin with. I have to practice way more to fix that.

See a Doctor fam. You may have depression and I can tell you from experience it is nothing to mess around with.

The positive thing is that you are aware of these things and are working to fix them, it’s only natural for you to still be “bad” , getting good at FGs takes a lot of time and work.
What people are saying to you is that constantly beating yourself down does nothing towards your improvement and it’s actually detrimental to it which at the same time doesn’t mean that you should lie to yourself about your current ability

Dude, you can one hit confirm, I cannot.
You can at-least finish a combo, I cannot even do j.LK, LP, LP, Tatsu.

Rose is twice as thicc as Menat and is 110% legal. How is this even a discussion?

Um she is also mature, classy, sophisticated, charming, and can strangle you with a scarf.

Can one hit confirm. Can’t AA.

Questions …

No. I’m not wasting someone’s time with something I don’t have and a situation I can deal with myself.

I can’t one hit confirm either, I just guess most of the time

One’s reacting to a button you know will hit, the other is reacting to a potentially random scenario while focused on a bunch of other things

I just suck at pattern recognition

Rose is cool. Menat is… okay, probably the coolest SFV newcomer with more than one letter in their name.

Menat is dark skinned and has orb normals along with a booty dance, is cute and does some cool poses, and is funny and charming.

She can also levitate you with a freaking orb which is cool, and her VT1 is like Spiral’s swords from MvC2, and Spiral is awesome

And the battle costume oh boy

Lesson learned from yesterday:
Don’t play SFV ranked on a Sunday night EVER again.
It is not worth it.

Why is Sunday night so much worse than everything else?

Menat is cute, but Rose is wifey. No comparison. Sorry not sorry.
