More things I wish I accepted years ago

You knew it was gonna happen

It’s alot more down to earth than it’s competitors like Tekken or DOA.

For some that’s also more bland.

I don’t agree, but I get where those people are coming from.

Tager can stomp on you from the heavens

Except that the VF story is wild as all hell. People just dont know it.

I’d have to track down the old games to see what the issue is. The game’s training mode is hella wild too.

I was only talking art/graphics.

But yeah, VF plot is a whole pile of insane nonsense.

Tekken characters always had a little bit more flair to them. At the very least, Tekken did a better job of conveying it.

For example, lets take Lei Fei. Dude is a legit murderer but is just a chill ass looking chinese monk. But he is out there to kill people. The character design just doesnt convey it.

I remember wanting to learn him (he has a bunch of stances like Lei in Tekken). Then i read up on him and I was like fuuuck, dont know if I can plat a man this grimy.

Yeah, you can use single backdashes to create whiffs. It’s mainly done in one of two scenarios, though: either by using a setup move to help create space, or by just doing repeated single backdashes when your opponent is pressuring you. That last part requires a bit of mental fortitude, but the risk-reward for just doing that is in your favor in a lot of MUs.

One of the best local players here literally doesn’t KBD. Last time we played he literally just did a single backdash after blocking four of my df1s in a row. The 5th one whiffed, and he launched me for that. Almost no risk for him, almost no execution required. Just simple, patient movement.

That’s what I mean when I talk about “basic” movement (walking is a non factor, true). It’s simple to utilize and understand, but a lot of people focus way too much on KBDs and end up not using movement to get openings. They just move without understanding how to use it to get damage or at least limit options in a way that is in their favor.

Single back dashes, side steps and ducking are excellent ways to create whiff situations.

I always liked the idea of the calm, peaceful, monk guy being one of the “evil” characters.

In practice though, he kinda felt like a crappier version of the other stance characters, especially Shun.

Anyone who does not know Jeffrey’s struggle against the Devil Shark is SCUM

That’s literally Feng’s backstory in Tekken. And he DOES look like he murdered someone.

Also I’m not hating on anyone. I just don’t think the characters are particularly memorable.

I think people can be forgiven for not knowing the story or the characters in VF. Literally all of their story is in the manuals. The only game that had endings were Virtua Fighter Kids.

All you have going for characters are their quotes in battle. That being said, Jeffery is still one of the best characters in fighting games.

Why has this thread been unpinned?

Vanessa had a severe case of vitiligo between VF4 and 5 she can’t help it get off her back!!!

Although it is shameful she got way less muscled between the games and her abs were literally just a cosmetic option in 5(default off).
