Looking for Love: Ibuki General Discussion Thread

Okay seriously, I’ve NEVER posted when I’m that tired again… That was embarrassing.

lol confidence. I’m sure I can go toe to toe with Daigo if I had lots of free time and money and no life, and adopted the korean style of training (see SC1 korean teams, or CSS american teams) which is basically to live in a house with other pro players and play against each other for like 12+ hours a day, everyday.

Anyways, back in the summer when I had nothing better to do but play randoms on XBL/PSN, I decided to make a generalized skill level scale, from 1 to 10, so I could rate each player I played. I also happened to take notes on each player’s gameplay (flaws, habits, etc.) but again, I was really bored.

I’d say I’m probably 4.5 - 5.

littlesushi is most likely better than me, but nobody can say for sure until we money match or something.

I have high standards, so I don’t think anybody is “good” until I think they are at least like 7. And even then I don’t think they are “good enough” if they can’t place high at majors consistently. It’s all subjective. Someone I think is bad, you might think is gdlk (like nerdjosh, haha).

lol and I thought I had no life.

Mingo, last time we played which wasn’t too long ago I went 10-0 against you didn’t I? Id love to money match you/anybody. I’m still deciding on which major I want to go to next. I’m positive if I didn’t have that one random Yun in my pool I would have been like top 5 for sure lmao.

Gabe I remember your friend when I as at Round 1 a couple months go, he also played Yun right? Isn’t that Julio? Either way, I think you might do good against champ if you can manage to get in. Everyone is used to Clakey D’s Ibuki so that makes things mega free for me. I can’t tell you how many people I 2-0ed right after they told me they play with Clakey D all the time. I was talking to Sherry and she was telling me you were like the only Ibuki in SoCal and I think you play completely different from me though.

Id say I’m like a 6.5ish in that scale. Pretty sure I’ve lost in losers final like every major I’ve gone to. I was confident this tournament seeing as how I like 5-0ed the guy that made it out Winners side in my pool but I got double Yun’ed.

Money matches are usually played offline. I couldn’t care less how well you owned me online.

Well outside of doing website/media/video editing/police//Japanese charity/college work as well as going out frequently with my girlfriend during the day, I only sleep 2 hours a day. So no, it’s quite the opposite, prick.

lolumad

I thought I was complimenting your contributions to the Ibuki forums.

I love when people use the “it’s online” excuse lmao. Worked real good this weekend.

Except maybe against that Yun lmfaooooo.

Who wants to learn Marvel? looool.

I played you this weekend? I’m not saying you won because of lag; you’d probably still own me offline. I’m saying maybe I’d win at least one round out of 10 games if it wasn’t online.

+1
Yun can go DIAF.

Nah I wasn’t reffering to you, I was just talking about all these online warriors that used the “online” excuse online against me and the matches are just as bad if not worst in actual tournament play lol.

Best part was probably a certain couple of people slamming me on Peaceful Jay’s chat and then ducking me when I was asking for money matches in person  I won’t say any names though, but I’m sure they know who they are

Fuck em. List them names.

and fuck yun. just because

I actually had high hopes for MvC3 when it came out. But I was still in school at the time and didn’t really pay much attention to it until the start of the summer, and by then everyone had figured out game-breaking shit like infinites, glitches (DHC gltich) and Phoenix + lvl3 xfactor.

Maybe I’ll get into UMvC3 if there’s a big scene for it. Hopefully it won’t be a dead/ignored game like MK9.

Still waiting for VF whatever so Izuna can teach me VF.

Yea he tried to play Yun but his name is Towner lol I haven’t really seen Clakey D around anymore though but I’m pretty sure he was the only one people got Ibuki practice from.

@Mingo:

Fuck the Bison match-up. Seriously. Just like you, I think that I hate this match up even more than the Yun one (and Blanka, 'cause he is historically my most hated character of all time, starting with Street Fighter 2 ^^ ). I may be stupid, by Bison is one of the characters that make me rush continuously without even thinking because I don’t want him to start pressuring me, so… I don’t let him start.
So ST.MK goes farther than b.MK? I thought it was the opposite -__- will check on that.

Yesterday I got pwned by the worst Honda ever. He kept spamming charges (dosu-koi or this down-up+ P thing when he jumps and goes down), and… I couldn’t get out of it. Backdash seemed to be the best solution but looked like he was always safe, so I kept being harassed until I started to be stupid and rushed him in a useless manner. Some match ups are really not a fit for me :-/

i always lose to turtle fighter 4 players.
i consider it as anti-fighting and just mindlessly rush so i can kick him right after and play with some1 who knows how to do something else besides crouch block

FA -> tsumuji loop punish -> vortecks

Is that what you do against Giefs too?

grapplers are different story. they are supposed to be played like that.
anyway for me crouch block isnt FUN. and FUN is why i play this game. if some fucker does nothing besides crouch block as ryu, i’d rather find a ryu that pressures me to death.
now that is fun.

And so are charge characters. How are you supposed to do special moves if you keep insisting on walking forward?

how is bison the most annoying charge then? or blanka. or chun.
anyway i find balrog that does nothing but crouch-block and waiting for you to come disguisting. its not like those chars are unable to attack rotfl.

add: dont get me wrong, i have nothing against defence. when its like 50/50 or 60/40 its alright.
but when its 95% crouch block 5% attack it pisses me off.

Cuz Bipson has tons of safe shit?

Most (if not all?) of Blanka’s shit is punishable. Chun is doable as long as you stay out of st.MP range.

Boxer is a pain, but as long as you’re patient and play his charge, you should be okay.

If all your opponent does is crouch block, then you crouch block. Not like they are a real threat to you sitting at midrange and doing nothing. Unless it’s Bipson and he can just spam scissors shit all day.
