i always thought this match up was 9-1 in ibuki’s favor. lol
Hi Damascus, any update on this tournament? when is this happening? I can donate some steam keys and game for prizes
I’m gonna try to make it happen after the holidays. I have family visiting from France here until around Jan 4 so I have better stuff to do than playing Street Fighter right now
If you are interested GunBuster, we also need a few admins willing to create and handle tournaments =)
Can’t beat em, join em:

I was expecting this

Ibuki’s googly eyes are going to haunt my dreams for a few days now. And Blanka’s neckbreaker actually kinda fits the character. It’s like a fancier version of his bite.
Is there a video or something anywhere of the corner c.hp combos after ex tsumuji? I’ve been trying the spreadsheet combos out and have no idea how cr.hp is supposed to combo into j.mk/hp on certain characters after ex tsumuji.
I think they’re just safe ambiguous resets, they won’t combo since cr.HP puts the opponent into an air reset state.
That’s what I thought, thanks.

Hey there,
I have some general questions so I’ll just ask them here instead of making a new thread. It’s probably no biggie for most people here, so I hope someone will just answer it.
I was playing Ibuki and whenever I knocked my opponent down, I jumped in while throwing a kunai to make it hard for them to block. On some opponents it worked really well, but one person would always grab me when I tried to do it. Block the kunai and when I’d land next to them, they’d grab me before I can make a move. So I tried grabbing them as well. After the knockdown I jump in, throw my kunai and land, then press grab. Get this: He still grabs me! Why? I mean if we both press grab…? This has me scratching my head. I thought when both people grab it makes this blue spark and the characters just drift apart. Is it something the opponent does, or is it just my timing that is off?
Generally I don’t really get how throws work. Some people just throw me while I try to attack them, but when I try the same it never works. It’s advised that when getting up I should just block. But my opponent will often throw me right away as I get up. Can you duck under a throw?

Firstly, if you opponent can block the kunai, then you’re probably timing it wrong.
Regarding the throw thing, is your throw coming out and whiffing, or does your opponent just seem to ‘get there first’? In the latter case, they may be grabbing early enough that the by the time you’ve to land plus your throw’s startup frames, thri throw is already active (or something like that).
He probably grabbed you during your throw recovery or you didn’t throw in time. Only way that happens is if you’re too early or late. If you’re aiming your kunais meaty enough, they won’t have enough frame advantage to do anything before you do.
If you can kara throw, kunai then st.MP kara throw is a good setup for getting a throw knockdown.
You can try late teching against people that throw you on your wakeup that way if they do something else, you can still block. Late throw + focus backdash works if they’re not expecting it as well. In general though, just block. Eating a throw isn’t the end of the world.
What? No. It would just mean that your opponent blocked on the right direction.
@hifumi:
Instead of giving advices, I’ll just get to the basics:
If when he blocks the kunai, he can throw you, that usually means that your timing is off. Work on your timing, your opponent shouldn’t be able to throw (or to do anything) between your kunai and your next move.
Then about throws: As far as I know:
- A throw takes 3 frames to start (except for Gouken, I believe his forward throw is 4f and backthrow 5f)
- If you throw somebody during this startup time, a tech throw happens
- If you throw somebody after the active frames of his throw, you will throw him
- You can’t throw anyone airborne
- You can’t throw anyone in hitstun/blockstun
Sounds like you’re messing up the timing of your kunai. If you do it properly, you should be able to attack them first if they block the kunai, or if they get hit by the kunai.
As far as teching grabs go, you’re most likely just mistiming the tech throw. Yes, there’s a certain period of time if when both players try to grab, and they’re in range of each other, that you’ll both kind of move apart from each other, but there’s timing involved.
You’re probably just mistiming your throw attempts. Keep in mind that your opponent CANNOT be in block or hit stun when you try to throw them, otherwise your throw will whiff. This can be done by adding a brief pause after your attack, to let your opponent return to the neutral state, before you throw them.
You cannot duck under a throw. The best option you can do while getting up is to simply block, or better yet, crouch while trying to tech the throw.
Need video or something to see wtf is going on.
Hay guise, so I played at GU yesterday and placed 5th out of 28 people.

vs Zaf (Fail Long) 3:54:00
Stupid Fail Long.
Also I played my Chun friend afterward for hours in a ft100. The more I play that matchup the more I think the matchup is 5-5 instead of slightly Chun favored, because a single knockdown easily spells death for Chun and it can be hard to keep a random Ibuki out, and really hard for Chun to make a comeback.
I wasn’t even expecting to do well, nor did I even have the motivation to go far. I just wanted to lose early so I could play on the DDR machine lol. I didn’t even have much motivation to go there cuz I’ve been too addicted to Far Cry 3 and Halo 4 recently.
