how do you deal with horizontal assist calls and your opponent super jumping immediately after? like i’ll zoen soem platyers out and then they’ll call beam assist and super jump to me… even if its someone like haggar. i dont wnt to use j H or j S in those situation… like haggar just block and maybe punish? unsure.
Dang! That was a very impressive GR! Keep the vids coming dude! Great work.
Seriously? What did he do that was so impressive?
All you can really do is jump H to knock her out of the air when shes at the top of the screen but you cant convert of of it. Other than that try to punish her dive kicks with a well spaced back H, but really, its a loosing battle… Spiderman used to be an immense pain in the ass but the jump H shuts his air game down really well, forces him to fight on the floor. Still a pain in the ass but much more manageable.
trish is one really rough matchup.
have a random question… is it possible for most characters to avoid H,H, dp+L by just ducking? like even if they get hit by the H? i’ve seen the dp+L randomly whiff on normal size characters crouching… damn ghost rider sucks
i did have a 21 game win streak last night against some competent players with ghost rider though! happy to make this crap character look semi cool. he isn’t competitive though. has so many weaknesses.
Yeah. The dp + L move has a booty hit box. If you hit with HH on a crouching character you have to go right into the qcb + L and cut your already mediocre combo damage way down. Fuck this character.
i feel like how rihanna must feel about chris brown. i mean i get my ass beat when he’s on my side but i still want to figure out if there’s more to him!
Right or if you’re in range you can HH launch
b.H the assist beam.
GR can work “competitively” with the right team setups, but sadly even then there’s some MUs and strats that beat him for free…
I really REALLY hate Ammy and Hawkeye…
MUs?
And why do you hate Ammy?
MUs= Match-ups
and Ammy is very tough, bitch goes under everything… and she has that counter which means GR has to be cautious about throwing chains around. She can also just chill fullscreen away and shoot cold stars at you.
Doom is also very annoying if you dont have an assist that’ll keep him from staying at SJ height all match.
Use Shuma Gorath. His assist is the only thing that will allow Ghost Rider to push an offense and a defense. As a defensive option, unlike standard Beam assists from many characters of the cast, it will disrupt any combos started by the best in the cast be it a Vergil, Spencer, Doom, and the unstoppable Shellkick.
It is superior to Doom missiles because of the time it takes them to rain down and enemies will be looking to RTSD both Doom and Ghost Rider. Shuma-Gorath’s beam assist allows Ghost Rider to fight a Trish, Doom, Morrigan team. While Trish is zipping around with Doom Missiles to cover her, Shuma can hit Trish, her fireballs, Doom Missiles, and Doom all at once while Ghost Rider presses the attack.
That said, there is an issue with using Shuma as an assist and that is that you’ll eventually have to learn him as a character. Thankfully, the forums here by Angelic and other posters feature exhaustive detail on how to get around with Shuma. I personally would not suggest Shuma on anchor. Even with X-Factor level 3 and a stored Chaos Dimension ready, he can be outrun by superior anchors. He is best second where an assist can help him instead. My current team is Ghost Rider, Shuma, Dormammu. My skill level is not video ready but take my word when I say that Shuma is the extra button that Ghost Rider lacks. He can also combo off of the struck character and assists with any of his normals, specials, and hypers whether they’re airborne (not super jump height)or not.
YOU need to use Missiles PERIOD.
There is an aspect to the game where players make the most tournament viable teams as possible. Then there is coming to middle with a team you love to play and that’s where I land. That said, I feel Shuma is overlooked as a character that allows characters with disadvantages to move around more freely, i.e She-Hulk, Ghost Rider, Hulk, etc. Doombots are everywhere in the tournament scene. He’ll be fine without me.
I respect that
Thanks, Dizzzzy.
Last bit of preaching for Shuma: Ghost Rider has a movelist that in itself, provokes the opponent to beat him up. It’s so straight forward that instead of playing the normal match, they want to contest the holes in his game and I don’t blame them. A truth of GR’s gameplay is that time is not a luxury for him. He cannot wait for missiles to come down while using his jump S to keep characters at bay while he establishes a game plan. There is a match up issue with Ghost Rider/Doom that happens whenever the opponent has a move that eats a projectile. Honestly, it’s demoralizing to watch Vergil chop the missiles and GR in the same combo. Even Frank West can ignore them when he jumps in levels directly with his weapon. Shuma’s beam gives Trish and Level 4 Frank something to think about. Once missiles hit Trish when she’s flying in the highest corners of the screen, she just flies back up and does her Trish thing again. The Shuma beam drops her to a point where Ghost Rider should already be making moves to get in. Likely, she’s called an assist before taking flight and after the beam hits, GR can punish them too.
you’ve convinced me to give shuma another chance, although after a week of practice i coudln’t even get the bnb down once. i was thinking of doing ghost rider/frank west/shuma. what are your thoughts on that? the other options is ghost rider/shuma/modok.
trying out Shuma means I’ll need to shell out 5 bucks, then learn the weird looking mo-fo >__>
How are the DHCs from from GR to Shuma? doesnt he pose for like 5 seconds after all his supers?
DHCs are not that damaging but they’re very safe
