Darn okay then.

Man, I’m not gonna say who it is, cause he’s on SRK, but I was watching this YouTube SF tutorial, and it looks so “nice” in training mode, but then I went to check out this guy’s matches, and none of the stuff that’s in his vids is in his actual matches. So I’m just sort of laughing inside my head at how some people play the theory game so much, but in reality, they can’t do any of that shit, because SF can’t be played on paper or more appropriately in training mode. It’s an ever changing game of wits, and no set tactics (no matter how awesome they look when performed on a dummy) will ever beat a good player. Sort of dissapointing you see a lot of people on this forum discussing paper strats and stuff but they can’t and more importantly don’t even try to incorporate them into their real life matches. So hypocritical. It’s really sad. If anyone saw that semi-recent SF tutorial on Eventhubs, I didn’t like it at all. It’s so shallow, and doesn’t show anything practical. Just an overstylized video with basic concepts displayed within a vacuum. Sigh… Anyway, I removed my blog entries because I realized that you can’t really teach someone SF unless it’s in a real match. That’s when it’s best understood. Experience is king imo.

There’s only one tactic that will work on anyone. No matter who the player is, even on paper it will always work. doesn’t matter who your playing or who your playing as you’ll always win in the end. No matter what anyone says its top tier.

DOUBLE LARIAT

LOL that was a top tier post

Sorry guys, just got out of work. So Sterling couldn’t hook us up at the Honest Lawyer, so he’s going to the Boston Pizza on Wonderland and Southdale. I think that’s kind of far for everyone, so we can do our own thing and go to Crabby Joe’s, we just need to go early to get a table. The figth card starts at 10pm, who’s in?

Hey dude, unfortunately I can’t come. I think Chris said he couldn’t make it cause he had exams to mark or something. And if Chris can’t come, I’m guessing Chris/Stephan can’t either. Corry has some personal troubles, and so basically I don’t think most people can make it.

Oh, wait, Iron Sheik said he wanted to go. You should talk to him, he could still be down.

If it goes through, count me in.

Hey Ra’id! Ummm yeah, so I guess the Crabby Joe’s thing will not happen if Mihai isn’t coming. So if you wanna drop by Boston Pizza, me and my roommates will be there. 2 sick fights going down tonight… Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn and Mirra vs Congo. Damn! I don’t know why you’re going to miss this one out Mihai!

BJ Penn is awesome, I hopes he ruins Sanchez!

So you said Boston’s Pizza on Southdale and Wonderland?

Yep, we’ll be there around 10.

Hmm, it might get filled a lot quicker than you think…getting there earlier might be a better idea. I’ll see if I can. How many are we expecting?

Apparently it doesn’t get filled up over there cus it’s kind of secluded. And we’re expecting like 5 to 6 people including yourself.

Alright sounds good. I’ll be there at around 9:30. If I’m there before you guys I’ll just reserve a table for 6.

I’ll SMS you to let you know I’m there.

BJ Penn wins and…

STREET FIGHTER 4 WINS FIGHTING GAME OF THE YEAR AWARD AT SPIKE VGA’S!

PS. No hate to all other contestants. Those games are all worthy.

Frank Mir did a hell of a job…but he can still eat 1000 dicks.

lol getting an award at Spike VGA’s isn’t something to be proud of.

The fans voted for the games. I myself voted for SF4. The games that won were for the most part pretty good.

IIRC Smash Brothers didn’t win anything.

Ok, guys, I think I finally came up (remembered actually) with a good idea for our weekly sessions. Long time ago, I ran a small tournament at downtown Funland (when it was still around) in Toronto. The way I did the brackets was pretty unique (or not). It was a king of the hill format. So I seeded the people that joined according to their skill. I remember I had Samir at the top. So what happened is this:

Let’s say 1 is the worst, and 5 is the best. The tourney would start off like this:

1 plays 2. If 1 wins, he climbs up a rung in the ladder. So now the order is:

2,1,3,4,5

Next up, 1 plays 3. If 1 wins again, he again goes up a rung, so now the order is:

2,3,1,4,5

Next up, 1 plays 4. If 4 wins, the final is played. So the order is:

2,3,1,4,5

And 4 plays 5 in the final.

Each week, players have a chance to rise up the ladder, to become the new king of the kill.

Format will be best 2/3 up until the final, when it becomes best 4/7.

As for the seeding, we can decide this when we meet this week. I personally don’t think the seeds matter THAT much the first week, because the best will rise to the top anyway. Still, we will keep them decent, and try to best reflect player skill.

This week, we’re going to do a test run with SF4 ONLY. Also, this week I will definitely purchase that tripod, and get it all on tape. I don’t think it will be long at all. If everything is a success, we’ll start running the other games with this format as well.
