Hey ok, AneurysmX pointed out Round Robin. Do you think that is a good idea or would the other method I described be better?
About the tourneys, I know Aaron and I really want a CVS tournament, and I know Corry loves that game hehe. Also, Nagata plays CVS too… I heard a while back that him and Dennis had a Kim battle or something like that.
About the best players playing, how exactly do you see this happening? I never wanted to kick players out just to make em upset. Obviously, anyone would realize I dun really care who plays, because it doesn’t really affect me. But I do care about winning if we want this to be something real, and something that truly represents London’s best ability.
ok, I’ll tell you what, I’ll compromise to try to make everyone happy. This is what’s going to happen (assuming they do come).
CvS2 Singles Tourney
3S Singles Tourney
CvS1 Singles Tourney (ONLY if we get at least 6 people)
After singles tourney, we’ll have an elimination style (not round robin, takes too long) team tourney for both CvS2 and 3S. London teams will be based on rankings in the singles tourney. Number of players on the team will be based on how many people come from Brampton.
So if say 3 people come from Brampton, the top 3 London finishers in the singles tourney will be the London team. In case of a tie, the people tied can decide amongst themselves, but I would suggest playing out a tiebreaker match.
This is the best solution I can think of, and I think everyone can be happy with that.
Sounds good. But this brings up a whole new issue. Since there will be singles tourneys, maybe some Toronto/Sauga people would like to come. Yeah, it’s not likely they will come, but I think when we post the thread, we should make it seem open to anybody, not just Brampton ppl.
that was the general idea I had from the beginning. I always wanted it to be open to everyone. I don’t think anyone else from Toronto will want to come though, as I’ve brought it up several times.
No problem. Good thinking above. Is that the same place Justin recommended we call to fix our sticks?
Btw, you like the idea of having practice nights Thursday and Fridays? When I was talking to Corry, that’s what he recommended, and from previous experience, I think those are the busiest nights at Wiz. Also, the Friday before the tournament is going to be our practice night, correct?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I am also going to try to get some or all of our regulars on SRK (and some others whose names I do not know) to start posting here to keep up to date with what’s going on. I’ll get you their e-mail addresses too. I’m probably (hopefully if I have some will power left after studying) going to be at Wiz today at around 6.
Btw, have you seen a white guy (dark hair, used to hang out with the DDR ppl) that uses A groove Rolento? He seems like he goes on SRK because he knows how to do the customs. I see lots of potential in him. Talk to him when you get the chance, and introduce yourself. He seems like he would become hardcore like us. As I said, I will try to get everyone’s names and e-mails, and lead them to this thread. But I’m just saying watchout for this guy, he is pretty good considering I hardly ever saw him play before. Also, there is another guy who plays MVC2 with Cammy/Cable/Psylocke who is not bad at all. He can do Killer Bee combos with Cammy consistently, and while this doesn’t show me he’s good or anything, it shows that he has potential with better characters. I played him once, and I beat him pretty easily, but still I think he could be a contender.
To sum the previous paragraph up, watch out for new guys, and tell em about the tourney if u see em. I can already tell that the “new” Wiz is attracting more and more decent to pretty good ppl. They just need some exposure to high level tactics and some good competition, and they could become good also.
Nassim said as soon as the Brampton ppl can gaurantee 100% that they are coming. Of course, nobody knows 100%, but when I talked to Justin earlier, he said unless something catastrophic happens, they are definetly coming.
Anyway, Pete may not be able to make it on the 22 - 23 as we discussed. He’s got a major paper due on the 24th, which may keep him from joining up. However, the rest of us will be able to make it (again, unless something catastrophic comes up) and we’re bringing Steve from Shoppers World for some added 3rd Strike firepower.
I already told Pete to do his paper early. It’s easier said than done though. I know he’ll do whatever he can to make it but I can’t hold it against him if he doesn’t show. He is one of our best (actually our best… period) players and would be missed.
Odds are we’d be staying overnight. Nassim and I already agreed that we’d go “boozing” (as he put it) after the games are done so I don’t think I’ll be driving back to Brampton afterwards. We can figure out accomodations afterwards. I’m not sure if eveyrone from Team BCC will go drinking so some may split to play more games and others will go out to party.
WHAT?!?!? LOL! Phoenix is pretty fun, I go there lotta times. The alcohol is very overpriced but it’s a much better club then the others available.
EDIT: Ok, I’m going to make the poster for Wiz now. I’ll ask George or Jay if I can post it tomorrow.
