London Fight Fest #1 Tournament - MvC3/SSF4 *BONUS - MK9 ADDED* Sat, April 30, 2011

omfg shut up with this shit already…must you post in every tournament thread with the same nonsense. Every tournament in ontario is run on xbox…Spend 20 bucks and get a converter so you can attend or dont complain.

GSXTACY…more like GX Stacy amirite

3 of us in Windsor (dems and myself who normally play on 360, and UltimaCloud who normally plays on PS3) tried playing the game on PS3 last night and all three of us experienced huge and very noticeable lag. I’m pretty sure anyone who has played the game on 360 for even 10 minutes would immediately notice the constant frame drops on PS3 in the first 5 minutes of playing. Not to mention when 2 Sentinels are onscreen the PS3 version just gives up and shits its pants.

Windsor is not exactly a bad place to have a tournament because we have people in Detroit who are pretty good at Street Fighter in general. I went to Michigan myself one time. I played these guys and they are really good. The only thing is there is not really a place to hold a bunch of people coming in from Toronto, London and Michigan unless we rent a hall or something. That takes money man. Darren’s apartment would be too small to handle everyone. That’s for sure.:rofl:

Like I said before, the situation whether it is jobs or the bullshit between ALL of us, Windsor is definitely not the best place for ANY kind of tournament whatsoever. London is a huge city and is the middle of everything. It’s close to everybody coming from both sides (Windsor and Toronto 2 Hours away) so this is the best place. London keep making tournaments like this happen in the future.

lol what? London is in the middle of nowhere, and out of the way for everybody. An average tournament demographic of 40 people from the GTA, 5-10 from Waterloo/Kitchener, and 1-2 from windsor hardly makes London central to anything. Calling London central (even outside the context of street fighter) is beyond delusional.

However, Ra’ids a good community member, and if I can show up to support this, I will.

Why are you getting mad for? I said I wish it was PS3. It’s not and therefore I’m not attending. End of story. I’m not buying a “20$” converter and I’m not learning stick. I never really complained in fact I wished hibikster the best. Every tournament thread??? Last time I mentioned it was because someone came into the London thread and asked about who is attending. This is the only tournament thread I bring this up in, because it’s a London tournament.

I’ve already explained why I don’t want to buy a converter but I will state it again.

  • No X-Box 360 to practice on. In fact I don’t think anyone that comes to weekly casuals has a working xbox 360. Chris had one but it’s been RROD for some time.
  • Don’t know which converters are proper and which ones are made-in-china bullcrap.
  • Whatever you do see on eBay is 35$+ S/H.
  • I would need a brand new PS2 controller as well, adds to cost.
  • I’m not even going to be in Southern Ontario for much longer so it’s a poor investment.
  • You may not use the back triggers but I use the R2 macro in MvC3 for hyper combos and dashing. R2 on PS2 pad is bad.

To the London crew, I posted this in the London thread but am putting it here for emphasis:

London Fight Fest #1 - Facebook

Facebook group has been created.

UPDATE #1:

Vince of GHSF will be providing the stream for this tournament! The venue has a good internet access so it will work out perfectly.

Update #2:

A Google doc has been put together for the inventory required to run this tournament. Bison’s Autoshop and some of the KW scene members and Vince have graciously offered some of their equipment to help run this tournament. The remaining requirements are listed there. As of this posting, we are still in need of the following:

3 x XBOX 360’s
3 x MvC3
3 x SSF4
1 x Large Screen TV (Preferably 32" or larger that can support 720p HDMI)
Tables (foldable)
Chairs (foldable)

Nice video Mr. Garen

sigh “face palm”

Why must people on the internet attempt to sound superior/tough/big by quoting a large paragraph and follow it up by typing 1 of 2 phrases or both? Complete waste of time. O wait answered my own question, cuz its the internet lol.
It’s face palm btw, just looks like your quoting something that was never said to begin with lol.

But seriously, London is almost all PS3. We’ve got sticks for them, adapters for ps2/ps3, etc.
However, we also have some 360s and sticks and even some sticks that work on both systems.

Why do we have both systems going in London? Why do some people play on D-Pad? 1 word, PREFERENCE
Before street fighter 4/MvC3 or any other big fighters we all had to choose 360 or PS3. I chose PS3, Bruce_Deluxe chose PS3, alvin1887 chose 360 because they were the systems that interested us the most. Once these fighters came out we bought them for the system we owned, some with both systems bought it for the system they preferred.

For my reasons, PS3’s gameline interested me more than 360s.
It’s just coincidence that London became a more PS3 > 360 environment, so we are used to accommodating those with 360/ps3 instead of shun them and tell them “too bad go spend more money and adapt to our preference”. Areas around London seem to have become the opposite, likely because of the first few in fighter groups buying a fighter for their 360 and friends/the group following suit. All because of the first fews’ preference of getting the 360. Because of this (with these areas being more fighter game based than London) the use and need of 360s grew making it a common thing.

If Bruce_Deluxe doesn’t want to learn/read up and make a choice of what adapter to buy, that he’ll only use once in a while when at these 360 exclusive things, why the hate? He doesn’t want to waste his money on something he’ll use once in a blue moon and in a limited time at that. I play PS3 with stick, so as long as there are lend-able sticks at these 360 tournies I’m ok but I still regret not being able to bring my own stick.

Now there is the difference in the systems yes, internet/processing/speed. But just last night I played with Alvin for like 80 matches on a 360 (while I am a ps3 player) and noticed not a single change in my play, which is similar to when Alvin plays on the PS3s. I’ll give 360 for good internet, because of the company’s reasons but even then all I usually hear in fighting community is “pffft who plays internet” so that throws that argument out the window.

Even if someone says “360 is better for fighters” it’s a big waste of money to buy a brand new system for just 1 or 2 games.
I think I’m forgetting something but ya lol.

good shit ra’id. Let me know how many your excpecting and maybe i’ll head to ontario.

Please!! Let’s stop talk about this.

WTF

Sorry to look like I am specifically dogging on you Drew, but you are the last rant posted so you get to be the starting point of my rant.

Fair warning: falling into the TL:DR catagory

Actually I see it more as facepalm or /facepalm for those with an MMO bend. Subjective viewpoint is subjective.

Personally, I bought the PS3 because of preference for its pad vs 360 and I am a cheap bastard about paying for an online service. It just happened for me that it turned out to also be a good BR/UPnP Media Server for me as well. All that is an explanation but does not quite have that much relevance to what is being discussed here.

Then why come on here essentially complaining that you don’t want to play in a tourny because the organizers are using a different hardware base then what you hoped they would be using? Rationalizing as to why or why not someone will not spend the small amount of money for said converter while you have members of the community that can give you feedback as to which are good/bad and help you get a hold of one is bad karma/trolling.

But then you contradict your prior point because you imply exactly what the rest of the community (K/W and GTA people are saying) is that if you want participate, adapt and be flexible to do so. This concept seems to be lost on those in the age of the “Interwebz Warriorz”…:wtf:

This closer to being objective, and I honestly don’t doubt it for a moment. The framerate timings on both 360 and PS3 releases are below 60 FPS on average, but the PS3 is notably lower. From my experiences with SSFIV on the 360 vs PS3, it is easier to execute on the 360. That may be tied into the FPS differences as well, or how each handles delay/input from users.

Considering organizing a large group of us outside of Thursday is difficult at best, there are many people that still want that variety of people to play. So, subjective or not, they will look at this as a part of why they would buy it for either system.

While I do agree with you, some people just want to only play certain games. And if they think it is better on one platform versus another, that is what will sway their decision.

I can bring MvC3, SSF4, Xbox 360, and two sticks (one TE, and one modded SE)

Excellent. Thank you Jeff. I will add your name to the list as soon as I get home.

Cory, can I put you down for a 360 and the games as well?

Yeah. One 360 and one copy of ssf4 for sure. Maybe one copy of Marvel.
