color8: tho i wish it looked more brown(like the sample) & less blackish ingame :razz:
I feel like Capcom dicked Cody by not letting him FADC his light and medium Ruffian Kicks. At first I thought he would be too overpowered, but now I feel like that would make up for his horrible wakeup options.
What do you guys think?
defensively maybe
combos not as much since shortRuff is a hardknock… maybe forwardRuff>FADC>forwardRuff couldve been neat… if it knocked them off the wall for a juggle/floatstate :razz:
best Cody’s I’ve seen so far are Chris Hu, Ryan Hunter, and i8600011 (on ps3)
Yeah, I just want to FADC them to A) Make them safe B) and set up more mixup opportunities.
At the very least, let me FADC the EX Ruffian Kick.
Personally, I’m loving his alt. One of the few alts I actually like in Super. I use color 5 with that for some reason, lol.
I’m usually not a fan of yellow, but hell…It’s Cody. He even looks manly in pink, so fuck it. I wear that one too, heh.
I’ve got a question though! What do you guys think about cr.mk against fireballs? I’m really interested to hear your thoughts in particular, 8ighty6ix (I’ve seen you post a bit around here, so I know you’re pretty damn knowledgeable about Cody as well as Ryan Hunter :P). I find myself trying to use it every now and then to get under those hadoukens, but the timing is so strict, I don’t really know if it’s worth trying to get down the timing for.
So, what do you guys think? Should I continue trying to focus on getting the timing down for cr.mk under fireballs or just ditch it altogether and just guard or jump instead? Oh and I guess I should also ask about bad spray.
I’m kind of unsure about the effectiveness of this. I know it’s pretty unsafe since it can be focused or guarded, then punished, but it seems pretty helpful as a wake up option for those trying to jump in on you.
I use it every once in a while mainly because I can’t get the timing right. But hey, if you can time it right at least 90% of the time, why not go for it? However, I wouldnt do it if you were like 2 character spaces away at least.
Ok I just can’t seem to do Lv. 15 for Cody there just seem to be no way to do it. I alrady checked out that one trend that gave advice on how to do this but after the CU the opponet is just too far to hit with Dead End. Any advice
Cancel into the super (d db b+p xx super).
Pretty much what syngin said. This will give you an idea of when to cancel it. By the time he says, “take” you should already be canceling into your Super.
There’s one hit in CU before the tornado begins. That’s your chance to cancel it. If he says, “take that”, you’ve already taken too long and you won’t be able to cancel it. Basically, just remember:
Cancel by the time he says, “take” and by the time you see the first hit connect. Hope this helps
I randomly switch between any of Codys fireball dodging options. My goal is to get the point across that throwing fireballs at me won’t work. My goal is for them to stop, because the timing is tricky for some of them, if they persisted i’d probably lose.
You know what I would love, if Zonk put them in a juggable state , and i mean all versions of it. This would make his corner game pretty tremendous. Cody hits like a truck so i suppose thats why, but I can still dream. Alot of characters have hit confirmable moves into Ultra in the corner, I would have liked the same for Cody.
P.S. I am aware EX rocks in corner and a AA Ruffian could, but these aren’t as friendly as an EX hurricane kick, Tiger Shot, Machine GunBlow, (anything dudley has lol ) etc
Got it. Thanks guys.
I have a question, since I’ve been practicing on my own without really browsing SRK, but was curious about something.
I know fMP can combo into clMP, and it’s pretty easy. Am I right to believe that’s a 2 frame link?
clMP to crHP is a 1 frame link though, right?
How about clMP to crHK? That seems easier (comes out almost every time for me), so I’m inclined to believe it’s 2 frames as well. Are these right? Some clarity on the matter would be appreciated, thanks.
Based on the frame data posted as a PDF the other day:
f.mp is +6f on hit (+1f on block).
s.mp(close) is 6f start-up and +7f on hit (+4f on block).
c.hp is 7f start-up.
c.hk is also 7f start-up.
Ergo,
f.mp > s.mp => 1f link
s.mp(close) > c.hp => 1f link
s.mp(close) > c.hk => 1f link
Caveat: There’s a difference between the characters when it comes to linking in 1f. i.e., Ryu’s 1f links “feel” easier than Guile’s 1f links (in vanilla). Cody’s links feel quite easy to land even though they’re mostly 1f (for The Good Stuff), but if there’s science behind this, fuck knows what it is.
Edit: Also, if you’re interested, counter-hit adds (in addition to 25% damage):
light normals : +1f
medium normals, heavy normals, and specials : +3f
Either original 2 or just about anything in his Alt.
I would probably like his alt a lot more if it wasn’t for those stupid prison tattoos. What kind of douchebag gets their own name tattooed on their arm I mean honestly.
i lose alot of close games due to cross ups and not being able to get in with damage…(blocking everything i throw at them) what are some good mix ups so i can turn thouse close losses to wins
Thanks syngin… Wow. I never thought I’d see the day when I can consistently land 1f links. This is a milestone for me <3
metrokard, I honestly think the best way to get in is the almighty walk. Just walk. I swear, it works.
But make sure you’re ready to antiair and bingo at any moment, or block.
Antiair whatever jumps come at you, clHK for crossup attempts, bingo projectiles if you think you can, otherwise block. And block any normals they may throw at you as you walk.
I’ve hear rocks work well at keeping the enemy busy while you close in, but it’s not something I do.
Yeah, Rizhall is right, lol. Seriously. Just walk.
I can’t tell you how many times I do it and my opponent just tries jumping at me or something. Most of my opponents just take a look at Cody walking at them like a true gangsta and go, “Oh shi-! This nigga’s fo real!”, then panic. Anyway, lol, I like using rocks for pressure though.
Just remember you have fake bad stone too. If they get in the habit of guarding your stones, if you do fake bad stone, they may try to jump towards you when seeing the animation for Cody picking up a rock. That’s when you use your AA and take the momentum. Oh and for the guy talking shit about Cody’s tattoo, wtf?
He probably got his name tattooed on himself so people wouldn’t be stupid enough to fuck with him. People see, “Cody” they think, “That’s an OG thug…” and walk the other way. I know I wouldn’t mess with him anyway.
He’s a true street fighter. Rocks, sand, and knives. Don’t need any of these fireballs, SRK, or shit
c.hk for crossup attempts? this works?
close [standing] HK not crouching.
but i think c.mk and b.mp are better
