cl.hp xx cr.mp xx special is an easy link that’s better than cr.hp xx special.
try cl.hp, c.mp xx (hp cu, lk or ex ruffian) as punish combo. it’s the next step.

I’m having trouble hitting the timing on bad spray on wake-up. From what I understand, it only works when you tech, so are you hitting the tech and then cr.mp immediately after, or are you actually teching with the down input of the bad spray? It would be easily solved if I was at home and could just jump into training mode with my stick, but I’m an exchange student and only places I have to play are the arcades of Hong Kong (which are great, don’t get me wrong). Little help?

Sometimes when I’m doing cr. LK into hp cu after a hit confirm or as a punish, the LK will hit but the criminal upper gets blocked. Why is this happening? Am I missing the cancel window? It never happens from st. Hp or cr. MP or cr. HP. Just from cr LK. I don’t think it is a spacing issue.
If its lag then okay, but if its execution, I need to clean up. So which is it?
Hitstun on cr.lk is really short so it does sometimes wiff (my theory is that you’re too far for the first hit of the cu to connect). Probably when you recognize this spacing or when you use too many hitconfirms (like 3 crlp, crlk) go for mk ruffian instead.

Most of the time (like 90%) that will cause less damage than cr.lk xx criminal upper because the pushback on cr.mp causes the initial hits for the criminal upper to wiff.

Practice doing cr. lk xx hp criminal upper as fast as possible in training mode until it becomes second nature.
It is second nature. Can do the combo 10/10 no problem in the training room. It’s just during matches that it seems to fail maybe 1 out of those 10 times, where as combos cancels like cr. MP, st. HP, cr. HP never do -shrug- That’s why I’m confused.
My suggestion is to stick with cr.lk xx criminal upper, but recognize the range where you need to cancel into mk ruffian instead. A rule of thumb is whenever you used too many hitconfirms (3 jabs, cr.lk, for one). After just two jabs and the cr.lk, it almost never happens.

I’m curious about some meaty set-ups that Cody can follow up with after knockdown. I only know two that seem to work off of teched KDs. These two:
Criminal Upper - whiffed crack kick, st. HP
LK Ruffian Kick - whiffed MK Ruffian Kick, st. HP
What are some other good meaty set ups I can use? Both off untechable and techable KDs that is.
