Not necessarily. Its still random (or whatever algorithm Capcom is using currently). Its not like SF4 where you can just pick exactly who you want to fight.
maybe im not understanding
if you’re asking for the names to show with the bars so you can deny the match because you’d remember the names of the laggy players, couldn’t you also deny the match because you’d remember the names of the very good players?
Both good points but seems as though system can be abused; although in the long run, if you’re just avoiding the strong players; you’re gonna get bodied in real life when you come up against someone strong in a tournament. This way of thinking, avoid the strong and only face the weak, is something the rage quitters will be doing.
This is why the connection test pre-match could help, but it does long things out even more.
Any word from Capcom on how they’re planning to tackle this issue properly? Perhaps in the next big update, or is that just for Balrogs big arrival?
Say you’re extra sensitive and cannot stand the slightest desync, but your opponent may be determined and usually fights the game as well as his opponents. Why would you deny him those points ? Sandbag it, take the loss and wait until the next match.
@Kreative Menke I can’t really interpret your post, as obviously you have a specific culture.
I’ll try to reformulate : people perception of lag and bad connection is diverse. Some players may feel entitled to throw the match because of it, while their opponent thinks the conditions are ok for him. I argue that they should take the loss.
I’m not talking about unfairness or different conditions on both sides of the connection, though it’s not something you can usually know during the match.
I don’t think that’s the argument (least thats not how I interpreted it). IMO I’m thinking we’re talking about an ethical standpoint. Whoever quits should definitely lose the points, but I thought we were referring to if it was frowned upon or not.
If you’re having regular internet issues with others where there’s lag etc, stop playing ranked. It’s never going to change. You aren’t going to get a good LP either. Also…and I know everyone will fight this kicking and screaming because they think Jesus himself linked them up a T99 line through comcast…most of it is on your end.
I’d say it is definitely more frowned upon nowadays, as people are a lot more competitive on the online ladder and do not necessarily envisage it simply as a training plateform for offline tournaments.
Avoiding bad timings and the forming of bad “online” habits due to lag was far more important than the attribution of points.
Except it’s not because the rollback is not working properly, it’s loading it all on one side instead of balancing it. Explain me this : Why don’t I have any issues in other games? Why can I play with people I know in GGPO or IV without ever having any issues, but suddenly I have so many during V?
I understand where you’re coming from with your post, but it’s missing key information, mostly that the rollback seems to be punishing the player with the better connection.
Stop playing ranked until they fix it. That’s the only point for RQ, that there’s internets points at stake. So play casual where they don’t, and deal with a laggy match that’ll be over quick. Build a favorites list, then move into Battle Lounge runs.
There’s nothing that’s going to make quitting in ranked legit.
I was fighting against a FANG the other night, he kicked my ass the first round. The second round was laggy as hell (1fps, no joke) so I had to quit.
I know that lag is something that may happend, so i haven’t upload the videos when connection problems are present. But is pretty obvious when people rage quit in the last second of the match.
I’ve won incredibly laggy matches and those don’t make me feel good, I feel like I just don’t deserve that. I’ve disconnected when it’s that bad and felt better then getting a bad win.
Honestly, it doesn’t matter. It’s a game or two out of hundreds you play, just call it bad luck and go on.
If you start adding variables to support the rage quitting issue, everyone will find his own excuse to justify himself.
