Actually iirc, armor pen helps you jungle faster. Magic pen helps later game but the amount you get from runes isn’t really that much compared to how much magic resist people usually have later game.

Armor pen helps you take out the camps faster which then helps you get to ganking faster, and when you do start ganking, your passive already lowers your opponent’s MR with your auto attack.

Edit: re: items

For my build I start cloth + 5 also. I build that into aegis then go sunfire or build a little more MR depending on the lineup. I’m going to probably start getting a HOG earlier too for the money.

After sunfire I build either FON/abyssal/banshee for magic heavy teams or build frozen heart/randuin’s

My end build is [merc treads-sunfire-frozen heart-FON-abyssal-banshee/randuin’s]

hmm since Amumu is my actual main(that i never get to play, stupid bans!) I’ll actually test this out, I’ll run a few practice games today and see which is faster.

I generally start cloth armor, build HoG(even though it doesn’t use the armor any more), merc treads. That’s my core for super early game. After that it largely depends on the enemy team. For a mixed team with light CC i’ll usually go aegis, randuins/FON. For heavy CC mixed or magic focused I’ll generally rush banshees after boots, then grab randuins or sunfire and finish with FoN.

Generally I only get randuins OR sunfire unless they are super physically based. I generally go with randuins unless I feel like the team is light on damage or I am getting fed. If you’re already higher level/better geared than people sunfire can really turn you into a killing machine.

You should get a fast-ish catalyst on Amumu because you shouldn’t be taking blues after the first few…

//EDIT\
and/or be super careful with your mana

Nega I’m gonna download that shot and test it out next game. I’m too broke on IP to buy different runes so I’ll make it work with the dodge runes. And Amumu is banned in ranked games? :frowning:

Edit: re: runes.
I usually run dodge runes on most champs and prefer them when I jungle, however they aren’t really good for amumu because tantrum cools down faster when you get hit lol

Go for it, yeah runes just take time to get ahold. Most of the time without runes you just have to start at wraiths instead of blue or have your team help you.

He’s banned. But not as often as he used to be, with more and more champs being released the bans are becoming more varied and it’s no longer just rammus/Shen/amumu/shaco bans anymore.

Are you level 30 already? I don’t remember if you said so.

My core build with mummy at the start was usually merc treads and chalice, with that I usually had enough MR at the start to not really have to build towards a pure MR build in addition to almost always having mana. Then I went sunfire x N (when it wasn’t unique). I still love me my sunfire, but now I have to build a more varied set of items.

Frozen heart is godlike on him for the amount of armor it gives as well as the CDR

after the first couple blues I find that it’s mainly team fighting and I always have enough mana to get through a team fight.

edit: I’m also going to disagree that amumu should be passing off blue buff after the first couple anyways. More bandage toss, ult coming up faster, more tantrum and perma despair brings a lot more to the table than a lot of other mages. Sure if I have anivia or swain on my team they can have it, probably kass as well. Most other don’t really need the mana and the cool down may or may not be more effective than on amumu.

Every AP caster with mana in the game is better with blue than Amumu. Junglers shouldn’t be taking red or blue from carries. People do it all the time in normals and it’s fucking stupid.

i have amumu but ive never jungled him or really played him. i just picked him up one day cause i was in like 3 ranked games in a row where he didnt get banned and the other team always got him even if we had first pick. which lead to us losing ofc.

ill get on him soon i guess

there’s plenty of caster where mana regen is a dead stat(basically all of them except karthu/anivie/swain), the cool down is nice on basically all of them, but getting amumu’s bandage toss up more often can be HUGE in team fights and most casters don’t have an ult as influential as amumu’s(basically just annie off the top of my head). I tend to give blue to any mage who’s by blue and ask for it, but I only go out of my way to give blue to certain mages(and I offer up red everytime but the first to any ranged dps).

edit: also season one qualifiers amumu either was or was very close to banned or picked in every single game.

I tend to go dorans, tabi/treads and then aegis then build from there. I’ll take a look at frozen heart though and see how that works out for me too. I’m level 26 so it doesn’t matter much to me yet but I can totally see why they would do a ban on him.

Teemo is free this week and I’ve been trying him out a couple times but I keep getting owned. Granted these aren’t prebuilts, just random noob idiots. Still, I can do decent damage going a typical as/ad build but I get targeted fast and dead in seconds in a team fight. Should I be coming in later to clean up warwick style or am I just playing sloppy?

Alright guys, I’m thinking of buying Nidalee now that I have the IP.
Quick, what are some good Nidalee runes, tactics, and general concepts?!

Magic pen reds, mp5 yellow and Cdr blue with either movement or hp quints.

Level one point in traps and max out heal and spear. In the laning phase just last hit, your spear doesnt do enough damage to be worth the mana till rank 2-3. Lay traps in the brush to cover ganks and stay alive with your heal, you almost can’t lose in the lane. Once you get level 6 you are the queen of the jungle. Change to tiger, pounce and swipe will be great to harass. If you take damage pop out and heal, you want to stay in cougar form most of the time pouncing around to move around the map quickly.

Start with doran’s ring. You want to rush rageblade because you can have full stacks with pounce. Anytime your heal and spear are off cd chuck that shit for mad damage. You rule early and mid game. After rageblade get deathcap and then banshee’s.

Spears are great to poke with. Cougar is what you roll with, stalking prey in the jungle, you can pounce over some walls but not all, you will always pounce in the direction you face, so you can right Click then pounce right away and you should move in the direction you clicked.

Late game focus on healing and buffing the carry for the attackspeed. And harassing with spears. You aren’t the best in team fights so stick to the outside and try to pick off the squishes.

And watch some hotshotgg. That man is the god of nidalee, I’ve seen him stop a whole team from doing baron when he was the only one alive. Hotshot will show you how to play nidalee.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Edit: I use flash/ignite because I like to be cool like hotshot

Double edit: I’m a doof. I forgot to tell you, 9/0/21 with points to the magic pen in offense and down to the last shit in utility, standard mana using caster masteries

Triple edit!!: @CM re:mummy

With cloth armor starting and the 5 pots you can turn the cloth armor towards an item rather than just a doran’s shield. Doran’s items are best for the lane and not really suitable for jungling for the most part. And Ninja tabi arent the best choice for amumu because you actually want to get hit like rammus lol.

Quadra kill!!:

I’ll upload some replays of my jungle mummy to help for reference, I also have some nidalee play but hotshot would be better to watch Imo lol.

(no penta ;__; )

Thanks, just bought her and I’m about to play my first game w/ your setup. We’ll see how it goes!

Good luck!

Just lost. lol boo

;__; it just takes practice lol

Yeah, she’s hella fun but I’ve gotta work on her skills and when to use which. I’m guessing her auto attack is kinda crap, though? I’m using MPEN so my auto attacks don’t seem to do any damage at all.

Runes for Nidalee are Armor Pen/ Dodge or Armor (dodge is preferable because she gains dodge in kitty form)/ Cooldowns/ Whatever quints. Nidalee shouldn’t get Sorc shoes, so the 9 MPen isn’t worth it, and the armor pen helps you much more early game.

Level one should be heal, then trap at 2. Level heal first, then spear. Do not use spear at all in lane, just heal and last hit and harass. At level 6 you become a real character. Roll up on some bitches with kitty form. You should be able to outlane just about anyone in the game.

Depending on when you have to go back you should either get sheen first, then rageblade, then lichbane, or just get your Rabadon’s first and skip the Reageblade and get Lichbane.

There are two core builds with Nidalee:
Doran’s Ring -> Sheen -> Rageblade -> Lichbane ->Rabadon’s -> Void Staff-> Zhonya’s
Doran’s Ring -> Rabadon’s -> Lichbane -> Void Staff -> Zhonya’s -> (I don’t even know what you would get at this point, lol. GA I guess, lol)
Always get Merc Treads. Conceivably there could be a team where Ninja Tabi would be better, but just always get Merc Treads, for real.

There are games where you will want Banshee’s, but Nidalee’s maneuverability is her survivability, and you shouldn’t be jumping into the middle of teamfights. She is good at poking, healing, and finishing. Also fucking split-pushing. Nidalee does that better and safer than most characters. To give you an idea, I think I have seen Hotshot get Banshee’s precisely once on Nidalee, and they had like 3 fed AP casters. I don’t think it should be included in a core build. If there is a mobile blink-type character who can blow you up in one combo, then get it. Otherwise just get more AP.

As far as the blue buff thing goes, shorter cooldown on AP caster nukes is WAY scarier than more bandage tosses, lol. It’s not even a comparison. As far as his ult is concerned, just don’t fight when it’s down. I mean, if your AP carry is a feeder and not helpful, maybe, but in a real game the AP carry should always get it, and the support should get any second blues you steal, if possible.

//EDIT\
Ghost/Flash on Nidalee. I don’t know when the last time you saw Hotshot play, but he has never run ignite on Nidalee that I have seen. Hell, he rages on Nidalee’s who take anything other than Ghost/Flash. Ghost/Flash is just way too strong for her.

Yeah, the ap part of her really shines through in her cougar form. She doesn’t feel too much like a caster until you stat to feel the burst from her cat form

Thanks for the Nidalee advice!
Now I’m assuming leveling heal first will translate into more damage since her E in cat form is a damaging move?
It’s like leveling 2 sets of skills at once.

I’m used to playing Ezreal, Morgana, and Tryn. Nidalee seems like she plays a lot differently than those characters.
