Viktor sale tomorrow. I’m gonna pick it up, and try to give him a serious try. Played him a few times during his free weeks, and had mixed feelings about him, but I think he’s worth learning.

i recently got him. i like him. very underrated imo. new guy then ziggs after that. gotta up my caster game.

Do you think Augment: Death is the only way to go with him?

i personally like the extra stun range that gravity gives.

Yes.

Hit the death beam and win.

He’s probably my favorite AP mid. I haven’t played him in so long though o.o

I get shit on in lane by a LeBlanc, and still end up almost 1 shotting everyone on enemy team with only 3 items

I fucking love this guy holy shit

Viktor is hella fun. Timing the use of his Ult is pretty important seeing how the silence is very short and placing the Gravity Field down properly can be a team fight changer.

I was hiding in top lane bushes near 2nd turret, 4 people from other team chasing down morde, he almost dead, they group up, throw down W, all clumped, E + Ult + Vayne waiting with me = lulzfest

any tips for Pantheon? I started playing LoL last week and I feel like he needs disabler support. Is he supposed to be a tank or dps semi carry? I’ve played dota for a long time so I know all my dota mechanics, I’m still getting used to LoL items, builds, etc

Both. Early game, he has high damage. Combined with his passive to block auto attacks, which are a large part of most hero damage early game, he’s a giant bully. Late game, he falls off pretty hard unless you’re fed. Depending on your team, you can choose to go tanky and just stick to their squishies and soak up damage or go Mantheon and try to keep up his damage to keep using your Q W E Q combo to just chunk people out of fights or outright kill them. There are plenty of guides out there for lane Panth (ok) or jungle Panth (fun fun, as long as you don’t screw up early game).

Man despite his nerfs, I’m fucking picking up Urgot and grabbing the battlebot skin when I get home in July. Dude just looks like to much fun.

Some questions about him though, is he purely a lane bully? What lanes is he best in? Can he jungle at all? I know some peeps here play him alot and I’m curious about their input.

He’s a botlane AD carry, but he doesn’t typically build the same way.

Botlane AD carry…or jungler?

Trying to be more versatile,by being a jungler. It seems that all the popular, generally better junglers are all freaking expensive (nocturne, shyvana etc.). So I tried the cheaper jungler. I use Wawrick and Sion.

I’m still learning with both of them, but feel like they both have some problems. I feel like Wawrick is a good jungler in that he jungles really fast, but I feel that I have such a hard time ganking until I get to level 6 (with his ult). So I just feel incredibly useless. With Sion the opposite seems to happen, he ganks really easily…but he jungles pretty slow. There was a game that I helped gank mid and bot successfully, however all of a sudden I was still 2 levels behind everyone else.

Thought of using Alistar possibly as a jungler? Is he any good, or is there any jungler with cheap IP points that is good?

Alistar jungle is very good

Picked up Draven, he’s really fucking fun and strong. Only thing to note is that in team fights you probably wont be focusing on catching axes at all.

Alistar is an amazing jungler but I have trouble stealing dragon or counterjungling with him as the game progresses. He is amazing for lvl 2 ganks and beyond with the whole headbutt and pulverize, combo or not.

Mundo is a great jungler but in the beginning (or without the proper runes) you’re going to kill yourself. Once you get used to it, he can do everything. He’s basically a better shyvana.

Amumu is also good, but extremely predictable. The enemy team will KNOW that you’re going for blue asap since he relies on his W. If you have to jungle slower, so be it. His ganks are nice, but they can be minion blocked and are skillshot oriented. Once he hits lvl 6, it doesn’t matter since it’s extremely powerful.

Nunu is pretty nice for the whole learning thing because he has great sustain, simple ganks, and can counterjungle so long as minions are available. He’s not zomgwtfamazing, but he gets the job done.

Master Yi is a bit iffy for me since he’ll either snowball into a death machine or he’ll fall behind and become useless.

Those are the 1350 and lower champs I can think of off the top of my head. Depending on what kind of jungling your team needs or you want to learn, you should learn a few junglers. There are some junglers who can gank without their teammates’ help (Mundo, Lee Sin, Nocturne), some who set things up (Alistar, Nunu, Nautilus), some who clear fast enough for stealing/counterjungling (Skarner,Udyr, Shyvana), some who just simply do everything (Lee Sin, Udyr, Skarner, Mundo).

Warwick does not jungle quickly, he jungles consistently. If you want to see a fast jungler, go see skarner, mundo, shyv, or just about anyone with spammable aoe abilities.

In the end your job is to make sure you have a strong early-mid game and that your lanes who are getting countered/beaten on farm have a little ace in the hole. Choose your jungler based on team comp and skill because laning phase is not everything (if you guys don’t have a tank or have no form of CC you’re going to have trouble unless you wtfpwn them early). You don’t want to pick someone like Shyvana who is mainly for stealing jungle creeps/dueling junglers if you’re playing with people who need ganks, aka 80% of the pub players. You don’t want to pick a jungler who sets up kills if your top/mid are tanks who cannot do enough damage to get a gank off if you come in. You don’t want to be a solo kill jungler if you plan on stealing kills from your ad carry. Once you have a good roster/understanding of jungling then you will be the one to control the game. At the start it will look like clearing camps and ganking here and there but to be a badass jungler, you’ll have to look into ward placement, communicating with CVs, jungling match-ups, uncommon ganking areas, and coordination with your teammates to find out where the enemy team has placed wards. After you learn all that crap you can control games.

FYI it doesn’t matter how awesome you are at jungling if there are certain situations like top lane and bot lane are both feeding/dying a lot. If you don’t correctly balance your time between camps and ganking then you will fall behind and become useless. You will get a lot of hate since it’s easy to blame the jungler (hence the recurring joke).

Biggest thing you need to learn in League when you decide to clear neutrals is when to gank and when to farm. It really depends on your character. If you have hard CC with good range or is easy to land, gank. A lot. Like, a lot. Are you Nautilus? THEN DISROBE AND RAPE LANES AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

ALSO, BUY WARDS

Protip #2: If your lanes are dying a lot, go leech their experience and farm while they respawn, then go back to farming your jungle when they come back.

The best way to get better at LoL/Dota/Whatever is to see the map as a pool of gold and resources. It’s not infinite, there’s a certain amount there, and your job is to get as much of it as you can. Like you’re playing a mini-game where coins are falling at you, you have to move to catch as much as you can.

Off the top of my head, hilarious jungle picks if you’re feeling manly:

Singed
Veigar (mmmyessss)
Gragas
Jarvan (this is kind of normal IIRC)
Pantheon
Twisted Fate
Shen (Is he still OP or has he been nerfed yet?)

Don’t listen to that above list if you don’t know what you’re doing. If you’re new to jungling and a lower level/ELO, play Amumu.

Jungle Jarvan and Shen is normal

Shen was nerfed but still gets banned.

I’m a little behind on the thread it seems but I really wanted to add to this:
note: wall of text incoming…

I disagree that Pant falls off late game. He is a lot like Yi where you see Pants/Yi’s either be over-powered or completely worthless in a match but I think he’s a lot more capable of being a threat late-game compared to Yi. The thing about Pant is that he can really stack the damage on people and he can be really disruptive, but he isn’t a wall like Mundo or Morde where you can just take millions of hits (unless you’re up against GP, then it’s practically free to pant lol…). Here’s the thing, Pant naturally gets the highest defense in the game. So against other AD’s you should have a pretty huge advantage because Pant can also dish out really gross damage early/mid game. If you’re Pant, and you’re not falling behind on CS or kills/deaths/assists, then you naturally have a large advantage over THE WHOLE GAME. You still have your bad matchups (AP carries can be a huge pain) but even against a really fed annie/morg/ryze/etc you can stun, then banshee’s veil/QSS their damage so you should be able to either have them on the run/defensive or dead.

The thing about Pant tho is that I don’t see people really maximize his effectiveness. If you want to do damage, build solid AD and abuse the hell out of his W and E. W for utility and E for raw damage. Personally, here’s my spiel on being effective w/ Pant:
Before, I’d max Q first while slowly raising the other skills. Back then, I always experienced what people described as “becoming worthless late-game”. During that time I also tried relying on his Ult which is quite a mistake. His Ult is really worthless and really situational.
Now, my skill order is: Q on lvl1, W on lvl 2, and after that I max E. I level the ult at 6 because the mobility it gives you is priceless. Don’t ever rely on its damage, just use it to get around at the perfect times. However, if it comes to increasing E or R, if I need to do more damage, E is the way to go.

As far as items go, I don’t ever get zerk boots on Pant. Having CDR boots is infinitely more useful so you can keep the W’s and E’s going. If I’m really getting fed then I’ll pick up speed boots instead but only if I have like 5+ kills before I’m even able to B to buy boots at the beginning of the game. After boots, rush the hell out of IE. It’s the most crucial Pant item. Makes your crits really kill people when they get low on HP and the damage it gives you is incredible. If you’re doing 5’s, then you should build Wriggles, then boots, then IE. If 3’s, then get cloth, then boots, then either more armor or IE.

The moral here is this: Pant will decline until he’s worthless because Pant isn’t a “one-build-to-rape-em-all” champ unlike the top picks the reason why is his kit is made to rule and counter people. If you build solid AD, I’ll just build a single thornmail or maybe thornmail and warmogs and you’re now completely useless unless you can somehow keep me from making money all game long. In a 5’s match, if you aren’t building Pant properly, it’s just a matter of time until people out-build you because you’re not building around them. A truly unstoppable pant will have speed or CD boots, IE, full-stacked BT, LW, and either the black cleaver, or chalice/grail with guardian angel and banshee’s. This will make you pretty close to immortal against almost every champ in the game if you’re both equally “fed”.

PS:

Does that drastically reduce your DPS? I mean, that’s part of the point to Draven is to constantly combo axe catching with blood rush right? I assume that it’s impossible to always be catching axes if the other champ is running away but still, I’m wondering what the damage difference is.
Also, thanks everyone for breaking jungling down so in-depth
