I’m doing alot better going for CDR. 13/5/12 on my first game of dominion tonight with him - 6/7/8 or some shit second game (we got stomped pretty hard). I think he has potential. I’m going sorc boots > Morello’s > Rabadons > Rylai’s > wota > probably a deathfire grasp if I got that far. Seems to work pretty well.

I went ahead and bought Swain. I’ll buy Vlad later

I’m seeing alot of Jaxs on dom last night. He is looking pretty good. Still wasn’t an issue for me when I was geared up but before that he was a nightmare to deal with. The Jaxs weren’t that good though. I’m pretty sure a good Jax would be able to beat an Akali.

Xerath doesn’t seem that good in dom, but is pretty good in laned games.

Let me know how swain is because I was thinking of picking him up for dominion. I have Vlad and I’m not a big fan of him.

yea jax pretty much shits on akali IMO…

My opinion on Xerath has changed dramatically… with some CDR he’s a beast. I’ve been getting very consistent 1X kills with low deaths on dominion now. He’s one of the best champs they’ve released in a while.

In dominion sure he does but who cares. In SR akali out trades him and top lane is all about trades. She also out sustains him top lane because of her spell vamp so until the game hits about 40 mins or he has been hitting a creep for 10 seconds she can chip away at him to make him keep going back or die.

Sigh, here we go again… I play constant solo top and Akali ain’t a problem. No one is. Also Jax starts rolling as soon as he gets his first gunblade, by min 15, 20 max. Not by minute 40. You also dont consider Jax’s R which nullifies anything Akali throws at him, his constant stun and he life steals just as much as Akali. Not to mention Jax is way tankier then Akali, who dies if someone breathes on her. If she’s really aggressive, just hug tower, and 2 hit her when u get ur gunblade.

Come at me bro.

so…ive just learned that jax can 4v1 as long as he doesnt get stunned…lol. I just got a quadra kill in my last game…all i had was dodge boots, rageblade, and working on gunblade at the time…lol.

good times:

Xerath’s stun duration needs scaling.

Getting hit by a 1.5 second stun with his extremely fast ult shot when all I’ve got is a tear and ghetto boots is, well, not cool. It’s long enough to guarantee literally all 3 of his ult charges and is nearly impossible to dodge.

In general, lanes are won and lost long before 15-20 minutes. Akali does more damage in trades than Jax early game, and has innate sustain where Jax does not. Tower hugging only works if they are pushing the lane hard, and you are still losing CS when you play that defensively. Now perhaps you have beaten every Akali you faced in lane, but that’s not necessarily indicative of the matchup. The amount of damage Akali can do in trades and harass is higher than Jax, whose kit, while somewhat bursty, is much less so than Akali. Jax dominates when he can stand and whack at someone, as that lets him stack up his ult.

It’s not a hopeless matchup, but Jax has to be defensive early, and his ult helps but Akali has a strong disengage so she can just back off when you put it on. Jax is a good lategame hero, but he absolutely loses lanes to several people. His early game is just not that strong anymore. Of course, if people don’t press the advantage, it only matters so much, and a lot of people aren’t good at finishing the game when they are ahead, but Jax’s laning is not that dominant.

The latest patch broke my game. Can’t get into games at all… can’t even leave since it says match is imminent or whatever. So buggy…

The most important thing I learned with Jax, is how and when to trade. If I see the opponent is to aggressive, I’ll just hug the tower, I can farm no problem under it. Akali can’t dive anyways, so I have no trouble sitting back. You are also very wrong when you assume that Jax dominates when he whacks at something. Jax auto attacking, should be last of your concerns. His disengage is also godlike.

But let’s say, you are right, and you do manage to push me out of lane, then what? You can’t leave you’re lane because it takes me exactly 10 seconds to bring your tower down, and you won’t pass the river due to jungle ganks. So in the end, I’m still left freefarming until it’s too late for anyone to stop me.

Too much theorycrafting anyways, challenge me online, and see wuzup. I’m online in the SRK channel right now. Challange open to anyone.

If you are hugging the tower you are missing CS. It doesn’t matter if you can last hit under the tower, because the creeps will not be there all the time unless Akali, or whoever, is somehow pushing the lane constantly for no reason. Jax autoattack is absolutely the reason he is so good. He’s a sticky character with insanely strong autoattacks. His ult is a straight up steroid. Sure, his W->Q hits hard, but it’s not on the level of an AP burst caster. Jax’s sustained DPS is absolutely the reason he is so good late game. It’s so good that lots of top players build Gunblade and then basically pure tank. As long as he can survive the fight and stay in it he can usually win it.

People like to denigrate theorycrafting, but ultimately it’s at least as useful in learning matchups as empirical experience. Here’s an example: I’ve won basically every lane I have ever been in as Wukong, Skarner, and Karma, even against pre-nerf Orianna and Vlad (in the case of Karma). That doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re godlike laners, although all of them are at the very least decent, it just means I happened to win my lane, for one reason or another.

People need to stop living and dying by tier lists and what other people think about champions.

I don’t think there is any Bad champion, most of the times people just don’t know how to unlock their full power.

Alright, sounds good man.

I agree with that. This game is surprisingly well balanced.

i didnt know there was still a tier list for this game

Holy shit Xerath on SR is insane. and his damage output late game is… lets just say veigar weeps in the corner. if you have proper tanky champs who keep enemy champs at bay Xerath is almost unbeatable.

Really more of a FOTM list really

I don’t really disagree with this. I never said Akali was better than Jax, for example, it’s just that each has their pros and cons. The game is pretty well balanced, outside of a few outliers, and even those usually don’t last that long.

At the same time, knowing why heroes are considered top tier allows you to know how to play against them more. If you play Skarner top against Akali and expect to just outtrade her with pokes, it isn’t going to work. That doesn’t mean you can’t do it, you just have to be willing to give up some creeps to stay alive and punish her for any mistakes she makes.

I don’t know if Elementz or anyone is still making tier lists per se, but there are champs that see constant use or bans in tournaments, and those trickle down to draft ban lists. Usually there’s at least a pretty solid basis for this, even if sometimes it’s a matter of solo queue vs. arranged games. It’s dumb to put absolute faith in them and it’s also dumb to completely ignore them. It’s all about actually amassing game knowledge.
