Laura General Thread: Who The Hell Is Sean?

Seeing the throw nerfs in general on Laura is interesting. You get pushed back, and your opponent gets lands further away.

On a side note, its adorable to see the panicking on EH. A lot of armchair designers are saying that she is going to be the new Mika and that she got over-buffed. Then again a lot of the folks there are loony.

Honestly she got buffed pretty well, but the buffs don’t really solve the problem of her getting in. Her pokes and neutral game aren’t exactly better per say.

Edit*: except her EX grab. But that is situational. Bite me Guile players.

Wow. This was the second biggest change I wanted. I’m starting to doubt whether or not all of these changes will remain. I also hope every Mika main doesn’t come running to Laura. I really liked being obscure lol.

She still struggles getting in yes, but if all these changes go through she’ll be literally unstoppable once she gets in. wtf do you do against a character with only +2/+3 buttons you can tick throw from, with a low hit confirm, with an overhead that gives her combo, + frames or CC and with hit grabs that leave her +1? As I said, you can even stuff most if not every meterless DP now, so if they don’t guess correctly they’re done.
The only solution, like with Mika, will be to outpoke her and keep her at distance… which won’t be as easy as before with projectiles.

Also my main fear is that if all of these changes go through she will be so overbuffed that in S3 the only thing that they could do is nerfing her to death.

If it is the final version then season 2 is just ruined. But there are 3 days left and yet capcom hasn’t even said anything about any patch notes…think season 2 can actually be delayed?

Mine as well. Its fun this season watching folks panic once you are in. Next season… wow. Gonna fantastic wrecking folks.

As far as Mika goes in S2, they are discovering MOAR mix-ups now that she has changed. She isn’t dead, just more complex.

In general, S2 seems to have given more combo opportunities, mix-ups, and generally a deeper game across the board. More cerebral I guess? At least on paper. I’m really looking forward to Tuesday.

Don’t crush my hopes. S2 and my Brook Universal Arcade Board are my Christmas presents… and I won’t be able to play with them till late because of the kids. Lets put those thoughts away for a bit.

Sure, but Mika was in a similar spot and despite the nerfs and some people dropping her, I think it’s getting back into a steady state with people figuring out new mixups and understanding how to still make her a real threat. We’ll probably be fine.

Enjoy it while it lasts though lol, S2 is looking like it’s the Year of Laura. I thought she was strong from the start, and now we’re a powerhouse.

CH st. MK links into itself. You can do CH st. MK, st. MK, st. LP xx L Bolt or CH st. LP, st. MK, st. LP xx L Bolt.
I think this explains my feeling that EX clap recovers faster… st. MK just hits earlier.
Also as a result in VT you can do EX clap, dash, st. MK xx VSF, cross under and be +1 right in their face.

Okay this is dangerous now. This sounds a lot like early beta adjustments, not late ones. In early betas they exaggerate changes to test their viability, and in late betas they adjust that data to be more fair or even remove them. I would rein in the excitement until season 2 is actually live.

Unfortunately without any context for this beta’s existence, the data people are gathering from it could just be misleading.

Yeah, my best guess is that in this particular beta they were testing Laura’s buffs in particular. Maybe she and Urien were just the last characters they were testing before release.
tbh I can do without 5f command grab and 5f st. MK if we keep the cr. LK, cr. LP, EX grab and M Bolt changes (and a few of her new tick throws).

Personally I would be fine with just the low confirm (cr.lk, cr.lp xx bolt), overhead that has in-air properties (beats throws and low attacks) and nothing else - after all these other universal changes were announced. Just leave the cr.mk as is so that we have a better option to get in and that’s that. The thing is that nothing makes people more salty than a strong character with a command throw. You can expect an infernal backlash if she receives all these buffs.

I’ll take it all of course, I had to fight so many Necalli, Chun Li and Ken players in S1. My blood lust knows no bounds.

Oh please let that St.MK buff be true. That button was already solid but those buffs would be crazy.

I doubt she keeps most of these things but man, if she does…

so 5mk is no 5 frames and +3 on hit +5 on counter hit. No mention of hit box increase. Boo

Yupp all hit grabs are now +1 after forward dash accept HP. Yaya.

Ex command grab has projectIle invincible frames starting a 1f-20f. And starts up in 18f now

Well, I am seeing this on all the characters though. Seems to be a universal nerf to alot of characters primary normals.

People complained you can’t whiff punish shit in this game so they made it possible to do it. I think it’s legit.
Everything she lost in pokes she gained it in oki pressure anyway. And the 5f command grab, omg… not only this means it beats 3 framers after every light, but it will connect much easier after block.
If they keep her command grab 5f I’m expecting them to nerf st. LK to be +2 on block. No way they can leave her a button that makes her beat literally everything that isn’t throw or fully invincible.

So with the buff to overhead…

can we link cr. mp after a meaty overhead now? i loved a good meaty overhead ->st. lp with old Laura and it’d be great to get even more reward off of that.

Yes. They nerfed Karin’s st. LK, I can’t see them leaving the same button to a command grab character.
