Laura General Thread: Who The Hell Is Sean?

Here’s a question, why in god’s name can Laura be hit out of her wheel kick where she physically is leaping in the air by low kicks? Can we get some lower invincibility on that move please? FFS I should not be getting crush countered by super late sweeps when I’m mid air. Pain in the ass!

Yeah, it defeats its crush counter purpose and it’s super risky.
Chun’s overhead is only a little bit slower but she can combo after it. Everybody else is safer or faster

Agree. Seriously, I can’t use that wheel kick consistently.

The day I was thrown out of wheel kick is the day I just stopped fucking use it.

I was in mid air. Airbourne. Still. Fucking. Thrown.

I’m a Blanka player in SFIV and it took Capcom 5 versions to give him airborne properties to cl.MK, and it doesn’t even move Blanka forward and isn’t an overhead… so I’m not really holding my breath

I was watching Spooky’s stream (next Level)last night and Spooky claims Laura is considered the worst character in SFV. is that really the general consensus?

No lie she’s really bad for the type of game this is. Honestly, she’s now just my secondary just to mix things up, I’m maining Karin now.

This isn’t surprising as she has issues dealing with good jumpins, shotos and being cornered. I wouldn’t say she’s the worst but I’d say that right now she’s bottom of the pack.

so what fixes her “issues”- more priority on her moves, better normals, i mean she has damage right?
people tell me to pick birdie instead of her if i like her style… this is true? He’s a better version of her?

I think a faster dash/walk speed and a little bit of invincibility on here qcf+hp would help, and actually armor on frame 1 of her elbow may correct a lot of issues she has with defense. But no, I don’t think birdie is remotely similar to her.

They would be right. Mika has much better combo potential and normals/mixups than Laura. Birdie is a whole different monster, but Id rather go with him than Laura.

As far as her issues she needs quite a few fixings. Just like two of these would help her: A better dash, fireballs not dissipating after a hit, her wheel kick not being able to get thrown or hit from lows, EX command grab needs to be armored, normal command grabs need increased range or attack power to compensate for how long it takes to come out, better yet if shes gonna do that low of damage for a grab it needs to come out faster, MUCH better range on her normals, earlier invincibility on EX Elbow since she has no DP, or just simply let her be able to combo into more things from her most useful normals.

As I said just like two of those would help her out immensely. At least she would be able to hold her own a bit against the more established and solid characters.

I would like to see more range on her normals, EX command grab with armor, her TC special cancelable into fireball, and lesser recovery on her st.HK. Not to mention some more combo potential. Earlier invincibility on EX Elbow isn’t bad either because Laura gets mauled in the corner. I only play Laura right now. I can deal with how she is but you really have to put in way more effort than most to see the fruits of your labor with this character. I really want Laura to have a better neutral though.

faster walk speed
v skill to low crush or not able to be grabbed out of
projectile to not disappear when hit

I’d like them to do something about the large deadzone between her cr/st.HK and the rest of her buttons. Better walkspeed and/or better range on cr.MK, st.MK or cr.HP. Maybe a bit faster st.HK.

IMO mandatory changes i would like to see:
I can deal with her walk speed. better hitboxes on her pokes would be great.

One thing that really gets me is the fireball moves her hurtbox forward. So to compensate for that I would like if all fireball distances were increased. Not drastically of course. Right now hard fireballs needs to be done outside of sweep range, which moves you into sweep range. Which can be reacted and swept because of the start up and recovery. So more range would be great.

Strike invincibility would be great on ex command grab.

I went from 4100 to 3500, and probably played just as well as you. Points don’t matter, just try and learn ^^ obviously salt still comes, that’s the world online, but just stay calm and know we got ur back

I really think that the only thing that Laura needs to be a really good character is a link light to medium or, at least, medium to medium. With that change she would be amazing and not broken.
