Laura General Thread: Who The Hell Is Sean?

Well that sucks, are they actively trying to encourage jumping against anyone who isn’t a shoto by nerfing anti-airs?

It still wins a fair amount. Training mode testing will be key for both players and opponents alike there given it’s still her best overall option. Against crossups though…

Pretty nice video up there from Dafeetlee. Looks like a lot of cross-up and quick command grab setups. Excited to get my hands on her soon hopefully. Does she have a safe little poke string into that shoulder? The ones in the video didn’t seem safe, but I wonder if a LP version would be safe® if it wasn’t already the LP one. Similar to Necalli’s stomps or Rose’s drill pressure in USF4 from certain distances for instance.

After consider who my main I think i’m gonna pick Laura when the release came. She mostly fit my playstyle on usf4. I main rose back there. Laura v skill resemble rose dashing. I like utilize dashing to control my offensive and defensive :slight_smile:

I couldn’t find many links with Laura. I Only found forward HP to cr LP.

Standing LK can go into her light punch elbow move or ex.
I wanted to find more in training but I kept on getting matches which were unplayable

Damn this character is fun. Wish she had more links, though.

Here are my testing notes so far:

[] Bolt Charge (qcf+P) is her elbow strike. The Jab version has no follows.

] Only Strong Bolt Charge has a follow up. The K follow up keeps the same side while the P follow up side swaps.
[] Fierce version is her anti-air version but it doesn’t hit a grounded opponent even when point blank. It’s strictly an AA move and not a reversal.
[
] EX version is just a faster version of Jab/Strong w armor and it still has P and K follow ups.
[] She can cancel all of her normals into v-skill except for s and cr.RH.
[
] She can cancel all of her normals into v-trigger.
[] Neutral v-skill is an overhead but no longer a crush counter.
[
] V-Skill Forward or Backwards gets buff dramatically in V-Trigger
[] Surprisingly, she can’t cancel any of her special cancelable normals into her command grab (both reg and ex). I tried to see if I can do gimmicky tick grabs with normal xx EX command grab because of the built in dash it has. It wouldn’t let me special cancel into command grab at all.

] She’s negative frames when canceling a normal into her forward v-skill. It looks relatively safe-ish but need further testing.
[] She has a lot of jukes with her v-skill movement because you can cancel back v-skill into forward/neutral v-skill but not vice versa.

] Strength of fireball determines speed and distance travelled. Stronger the normal the farther it travels but start up looked the same among all three. Holding it down makes it travel farther and deal 3 hits.
[] EX Fireball seems really good. Can’t charge it and always does 2 hits. Active for days and an excellent tool for controlling space or locking the opponent down. Recovers instantly so you can combo into qcf+Fierce if you’re close enough.

] Command grab seems good. It’s much farther out than her normal grab range. EX version has a built in dash to it. None of them cause a hard knockdown.
[] Her Medium and Heavy normals seem fast on start-up but her lights seem slow.

] You can’t combo Light Bolt Charge from her crouching lights but you can from her standing lights. Only problem is you can’t link or chain her crouching short into her standing ones.
[] s.Strong is a situational anti-air. It moves her forward so there’s a specific range to get the AA otherwise use qcf+Fierce. Probably her biggest weakness so far.

] S.Fierce and s.RH are crush couter normals
[] You can’t special cancel from her Strong~Forward TC.
[
] You can combo into her neutral v-skill or qcf+Fierce from her f+Fierce~Fierce TC.
[*] EX Fireball, qcf+Fierce combos like in the trailer but you need to be point blank range.[/list]

Laura has some stumpy ass normals I’m not understanding how everyone’s standing MK beats her cr.MK

My entire 3 hours playing her in the beta is right here… I suggest starting near the middle.

After messing more with her, eventhough she seems limited with some obvious links like medium into medium…she has a LOT of mobility due to her v-skill, and can really duke people out combned with her v-skill overhead, v-skill dashes, command grabs, ex command grab. st.hk which is a CC and apparantly still in range after moving back with her v-skill.

She seems like a character which constantly dares you to press a button and requires a lot of conditioning. Not sure if her stuff is gimmicky or not yet.

EX Sunset Wheel has deceptive range due to the dash, but you can be thrown out of it. Didn’t know about the armor… EX Bolt Charge also has armor.

Actually… i assumed it had armour, it doesn’t.

Seems she has 1000 health from my testing efforts

Once she conditions you she’s golden but for people with good buttons like Karin who just kept sticking them out I’m just no my seeing at the point how you get in…she’s too stubby. I see Dhalsim being her worst nightmare

That Ryu player who only knew how to do j.MK > cr.LK > cr.LK into nothing and couldn’t AA to save his life rage quitted on you after you did Super with Laura

Yea, I was sooooooo annoyed that match lol. Had to chase the guy all over the place, only for him to rage quit…during a beta.
