Laura Combo/Tech Thread

I’ve been using Laura’s command dash to go under neutral jumpers, with a high rate of success.

That looks really useful. Doubt I can do it consistently though with my god-awful reactions.

no use against safe jumps. but, some sf4 art seems long forgotten so you can keep doing it.

Its not meant for safe jumps, its for neutral jumps that bait a tech theow. It’s very risky to do because I have to resist throw teching since there isnt enough time to dash under after teching.

I usually react to unsafe neutral jumps with QCF+HP myself. Pretty easy to do in my experience. No neutral jumping on my wake up!

Concerning her V-Reversal (which to me is a godsend given the meh buffs in VT), am I the only one that uses it offensively to continue the pressure and keep the momentum going? I find it very practical to prevent them from keeping you away once they blocked st. HP or LP Bolt. Doing a dash -> sweep or VSF xx VSO after the reversal can easily convert it into massive damage and either another knockdown or a reset into neutral.

No, I do this, too sometimes. They don’t usually expect the V-Reversal directly after your offense, it’s a great way to throw people off guard.

Hell yeah I VR constantly. Honestly it seems so frustrating/annoying for the opponent. Her VR is too good. If you know they’ll block after it you can do VSF Ex Grab or dash fwrd+hp for a strike. Another thing I like to go for after VR is dash, slight step cr.MK. Often times it’ll catch people trying to move backwards and if you’re good with your confirms, look for it to counter hit and buffer into MP elbow. :slight_smile:

On another note, I’m going to attempt to explain a set up I’ve been trying to incorporate into my game. I don’t see anyone doing it, except Kindevu who did it once. After EX Clap, link a LP Elbow. Now step back 1 frame. Jump forward HP will stay in front, jump foward MK will hit in back (depending on the character) if you want a surefire cross up, don’t step back just jump immediately. This is a very ambiguous 50/50 and might be a safe jump if you don’t take the step back. You can definitely get uppercutted if you do take the 1f step back but if you know they aren’t going to do it, give it a shot. The j.HP looks like you’re going to cross up and the j.MK can be made to be SF4 Ibuki/Cammy levels of ambiguous. When done right they should have to guess. Why not just do st.HP 50/50 reset? You can do that too. This is just another option to keep the opponent guessing! (I would record a vid but I’m lazy)

Things people do and I should punish:

  • Ryu’s cr lk, cr lp, cr mk xx fireball > can be interrupted by EX elbow after the cr lp
  • Ryu’s cr mp, cr mk xx fireball > jab xx lp elbow (or EX if you want the knockdown) after his cr mp
  • Chun’s cr lp, cr mk xx fireball, st hp > you can press everything but f hp after the fireball. st hk, walk a bit, cr hp xx mp elbow is probably the best meterless punish
  • Chun’s cr lp, st mp, cr mk xx legs > interrupt with st lk xx lp elbow (or EX) after her st mp
  • Cammy’s st mp, cr mp, cr mk xx arrow > interrupt with st lk xx mp elbow (ch combo) after her cr mp
  • Bison’s df hp, st mp, cr mp xx inferno > st lk xx mp elbow after his df hp

I need to find out more of bison’s frame traps because I know it should work on paper but sometimes I still get blown up

Saw some japanese guy do the part up untill the wheel kick.

Under the shenanigans section, I just discovered how to do Rose’s U2 juggle with her: on a jump-in, CC st. HP xx EX fb, walk forward, wait for the 2nd hit of the fireball and then HP Bolt (too lazy to make a vid but it’s easy enough for anyone to replicate). Telegraphed jump-ins punishment now 50% more stylish!

Cross up lk or non cross up jumping lk command throw. This simple piece of tech right here allow me to finish games b4 they start

That’s certainly a lot to keep in mind in the heat of a match but I’ll definitely try incorporating some of those LP Bolt trades into my gameplay.
