Man, I’m gonna have to go to some other places to grab a job. the fucking fast food areas are screwing around, so I’m not gonna deal with them. Hopefully, there’s something close enough to me that I can get. I swear. when I get enough cash, I’m moving the house and everything else I have the hell out of this city. this place is the deadest of dead ends.

Not much happening again today. way too damn hot for my tastes, especially when my AC is dead. a call from a friend has helped to cheer up the day, but that’s about it. what about the rest of you?

Had two job interviews yesterday. The first was with a placement company out in Osaka. Since I have a ton of experience, it wasn’t so much “are we going to accept you?” as it was “what’ll we do about your visa?” I’m gonna have to go beg my work now if they’ll help me extend it or something. I don’t expect it will. They’re probably gonna say “it’s not our responsibility anymore” or some such BS.
The other was job counseling in Kyoto. The guy was real nice - he showed me how to pad my resume, and said he’d look for some companies that I could work at.
I went home for a bit, and with 3 free hours I got out of my suit and went to the gym. I did the High Intensity Interval Training I learned about here on SRK. It nearly kicked my ass. It was great. I then went out to a farewell party in Kyoto. I don’t see most of these people very often, so I wasn’t expecting much. But one of my buddies was unexpectedly there, and I had a few other good friends there as well. And once the beer was flowing, it was all fun enough. I did talk to a guy who warned me about the company I interviewed with in Osaka - told me to stay clear away from them.
Today I’m just chilling at home with the gf.
Haha, yeah I hear ya’ Starhammer. Unfortunatelly, I hear ya…Mobile Alabama is the same way. You have to get out to actually get a good job.

that’s good to hear. So you’re actually thinking about hanging around in Japan a little longer huh? if you can, try to get a job nearer to Tokyo. you should like that better than the countryside. Just watch out for the crazy people…Ok, wait. You’re in Japan. You’re gonna be surounded by crazy people all the time. I think that’s why I love the place so much.

that’s strange. Mobile without jobs doesn’t sound right. Speaking of jobs, I might luck out and get a job at the gas station here. not a far cry from fast food, but as long as I can do something different I would be happy. if not, whatever I can get will be good. With any luck, I won’t need it for very long. I hope you can find something around their soon. I know how crapy it is to not have a job when you need one.

Damn I’m getting busted for insubordination… the acting First Sergeant (E-7, I’m E-5) is a Shaq-sized black dude, and from the way that he talks to me like I’m a no-stripe rookie, and STARES ME DOWN and never breaks eye contact, struck me as unprofessional and disrespectful… so I told him upfront that I don’t like the way that he addresses me… then he gives me some bullshit about how that’s the way it’s done in the military, then I fire back ‘where in the regs or AFIs does it say that?’ And since there aren’t any rules towards eye contact with the intent to intimidate, why can’t he respect me, an NCO, and respect my wishes and stop looking at me like he wants to exchange blows? He just said ‘I’m done with you, you can go’ and I just bailed. A couple days later my supervisor tells me that the Shirt is about to draft an LOR for insub. There’s more to the story but that’s why I’m getting the first LOR (not Counseling or Admonishment, it’s going straight to fucking Reprimand with no paper trail or counseling inbetween) of my career.
He’s just being an ignorant fuck, throwing his weight around. So a higher-ranking guy can disrespect you and nothing happens, but when you call him out on his shit that’s when paperwork gets drafted. That’s exactly the way it works unfortunately. Just stay the fuck away from the military guys.
PS. I know I haven’t been in this thread in awhile but I just like dropping my military bizniz in here, so…
all’s cool Taito. Yeah, shit like that CAN happen and unfortunately, it happened more than I cared to admit when I was in. That’s why I’ve always told everyone to save military service as a last-resort for employment. I wish it wasn’t like that, but it is. A LOR is gonna hurt your next chance at promotion, if not outright kill it, but at least it isn’t a court martial. yeah, you will certianly get higher ups who try to throw their weight around. That’ll happen no matter where you are though. dickheads like that will come and go, so don’t even sweat it.

It shouldn’t affect my promotion… thankfully an LOR stays at my base, right (unless this shithead puts it in my PIF)? I’m leaving this hellhole in a few months… I should be able to pick up my file and tear up the LOR when I PCS…
This is fucked up because an LOR is something I’d talk to my Shirt about… but I’m not talking to that piece of shit unless I somehow have to…
Well, if they scan your LOR and put it in your microfiche or whatever, so it stays in your records forever… I would destroy that “pricky 7”'s car. Fuck all the bullshit, especially if you are staying in, a LOR (depending on what grade issues it and whether or not they feel like being dicks) can really hurt your career.
I’m pretty frustrated with the military myself. Less than 2 years, and I’m out… these will probably be 2 long ass years.

well, I did it again. I decided I’d chill a little bit last night and spend a little on some booze. after almost a month without a drop, it hit MUCH harder than normal. While I was typing this, I was still feeling it. by tomorrow I’ll be right again. unfortunately, It’s freaking scorching over here, so I was in bad shape for most of the day. However, it’s still cool because I know I’ll be good to go. Ah well. Lesson learned . What’s everyone else up to?

Now Isreal is littleraly one lebanon border away from kicking some Terrorist ass. U.S. Vs. Iraq we know about. we can’t seem to get away from it on the news. I even heard that the Dutch were kicking som asses over in afganistan. I don’t know about the rest of you, but this ain’t looking good. Personally, I’m starting to wish I was still in the military.
