If it makes any of you grunts feel better, one of our night check Chiefs in my squadron said that the Navy sea-going deployments (ships and squadrons) may be raised from 6 months to 12 months. And since I’ve yet to be sent to my sea duty, it’d be just my luck to be on cruise for a year.
And have ya’ll heard anything about Individual Augmentation? At least in the Navy, people are being pulled from their commands with orders to Iraq, and the uppers in my command have been told to have everyone ready for the possibility, regardless of rank/rate/MOS.
Ducky: You’re probably right. Sometimes the same can be said in garrison too.
Y’know though, i just think it’s a shame that i’m on the last lil bit of my Iraq deployment and it’s probably one of the shittiest times. Due to the situation.
And i seem to be hungry all the fucking time now. I know it’s cause i’ve been putting on alot of muscle, but this is getting rediculous I’m hungry all damn day. And to add to that, we’ve run out of snacks in our hooch. I resort to eating whole jars of peanut butter, tastes good though.
Also, operations have slowed the fuck down over in this location of because the unit we’re supporting is switching so there’s absolutely nothing to do all damn day. This would explain why i’ve been on SRK a hell of a lot over the past couple of days.

To tell you though, there are quite a bit of Navy seamen where i’m located right now. It’s a smorghasboard of all military branches. Air Force being the lightest though of course.
I just saw a horror movie called High Tension (Haute Tension). It’s French, and very gory. I highly recommend watching it. The less you know about it prior to viewing it, the better.
They do nickel/dime deployments in every branch. Most of the people who have deployed from my unit have been nickel/dimed to support and augment units that are short on signal or need a specialized commo.
So, Slide, there’s quite a bit of seamen where you are right now? You better stop watching porn on those internet cafe computers…
They go back to being assholes, you get your block leave, then you get to spend months in garrison doing a shitload of paperwork, readjusting to life, only to prep for another deployment, and get shipped out again. WELCOME TO THE ARMY!

I hate my new position at work… being NCOIC fucking sucks. I understand it will look great on my NCOER, working an E-7 slot as an E-5, but ultimately that doesn’t matter since I don’t want my E-6 and I’m not staying in, which makes my NCOER’s pretty useless. Spent this Saturday morning at work, bright and early, working 5 hours alone so none of my soldiers would have to come in. Fuck, what I wouldn’t give to return to a tactical environment so I don’t have to deal with stupid paperwork and shit like that.
What’s funny though, me being in a tactical environment, sometimes you STILL can’t avoid stupid paperwork. Especially when those that are supposed to be doing it, aren’t. And are just sitting on their asses.
