Unfortunately, I DO know what you mean. the same thing happens to Sailors out to sea too long. the day don’t matter, the time don’t matter, you end up getting lost in the routine of the day. You have to keep yourself together. Your situation is NOT the kind of place I would want to be walking around in that condition. Me? I was on a boat most of the time. If something big enough came to sink a boat, you were dead anyway. in your case, way too much could come up. Not meaning to scare ya or anything, just giving what little advice and knowledge and ex-squid can give.

What’s REALLY going on in Iraq?
The Iraqi people are scared to death of the insurgents.
The insurgents do TERRIBLE things to some of the people that I will NOT mention here(i’m sorry), just uh think like the Golden Watch Pulp Fiction scene that’s all i’ll say about some of that. =
They love us, atleast in the area I’m in, which is supposedly one of the most dangerous in Iraq right now anyhow. Especially the kids, they really love us. For my job we interact with the population alot and the reactions are always really good. I mean, just saying hello in arabic, and waving goodbye puts a big ass smile on their faces. no lie.

Oh EDIT: one other thing. the Iraqi Army are pretty cool and they seem to really enjoy the company of us soldiers. They dont’ seem to be all cultured out for whatever reason. they seemed westernized.

It’s good to have a reliable source about what’s up over there. It seems that if it isn’t a scandal or racism, the news doesn’t bother playing it. Stay safe over there though.

Meh. It’s that time again…
Other than a short rush at work, not much happened there. I left there and nearly ate a bus sandwhich on the way home. I still don’t know what the hell they were doing on the street since the kids were out of school, but there they were. Big and yellow and bearing down on me. Obviously, I dodged the bullet(s) and made it home alive. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings…

Im here… my leave has been craptacular. Probably the last time I return to Mobile on leave.
My dad goes beserk for NO apparent reason and almost hits my sister and pushes me down. I swear to fucking God I do not care if he’s ever a part of my life again. With my sister in tears, we pack up our stuff and stay in a hotel Christmas Eve.
And the sad thing is I’m only upset that I even tried to go and stay there. I did get to see my sisters and my mother, but the rest of the time has been a sick joke.
When I finally think I’m doing well and making something of myself I come back to hometown bullshit and reality bites me in the nuts.
