Late night at SRK, version 0, champion edition!

Kickle Cubicle is hot to death

Yo whaddup RC. I picked up his album last month and I’m not really feeling it. The entire project is just way too minimalist for my taste. Most of the tracks are good but there’s only 11 of them (my main complaint), one of which is a direct recording from Chappelle’s Show…

Why do you like the album so much? I’m just wondering because I keep hearing hip-hop/music media calling the album a hip hop classic and I don’t get what the fuss is about.

Get on gamefaqs and use the faq that DJ JellyBean wrote. It’s the SHIT.

I’m runnin’ out the house right now, but when I get back I’ll holla at you about the album.

What’s up late night?

Over here it’s not much as usual. Even though I don’t need a job, I’m starting to miss work just a little. I think winning the lottery would cure that, but a lotto is too undependable right now. maybe going back into the grind will do it for the time being. IF I end up not posting as much as normal, that’ll be the reason.

-Starhammer-

Just chillin for the time being. About to have a CVS2 session at one of the cybercafes over here soon. Washed my car today and it didn’t rain afterwards, which is always a good sign.

The reason I like it so much, despite some short comings (I can’t stand Kanye when he raps, and the album length) it’s an overall solid album. I don’t really listen to much hip hop nowadays due to the shit that’s out. It’s the same stuff over and over. Common’s album is getting praised as “Classic” even though it’s not, simply cause it’s different from what’s out. The same shit happened when Kayne West dropped his CD. It was so different than what was out at the time that it garnered much more praise than it should have simply cause it stood out from the pack.

went out and bought a big box of cap crunch, its going to be a wonderful night

And that is the truth. A few months ago, after coming home from a brutal Calc 3 test, my brain was fried. I just wanted to relax and let my mind be free. Well, I popped in KC and proceeded to play the night away. My roommate came in later that night and was like, WTF? He later warmed up to the game. No one can resist…

Also just finished reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. Wow. It starts off with an interesting twist and it just builds from there. From the half way point, things just really start to take off. Murakami is now one of my favorite authors. This and Dance, Dance, Dance are two books which I recommend everyone to read.

Just enjoyin the rest of the night now. This chick I kicked it with went home and I’m ready to spark up a blunt and pass out.

Yeah. It’s all good :karate:

Wow, I have the third highest post-count in this thread, behind Star and Ducky.

Anyway, I just got home from a wild weekend. Thank GOD Monday is a holiday. I’m gonna sleep until Tuesday.

Yeah like 10 years ago a friend of mine’s mom was playing the game and i was looking like, what the??
Played it myself and that shit was addictive as hell.
Now I got it on an emulator.
Another good old game that’s overlooked is Snake Rattle & Roll. I can never get past level 4 or 5 for whatever reason. I always lose the length and can’t get into the exits.

Man I haven’t been reading in a long time. I still have this one book Pressure Points that i haven’t finished in forever. Once I do finish that though i’m gonna read Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. Shit I might just start on that instead. I read one of the stories from it already on a website, and it’s a wild read.

slide i dont understand your av, whats it mean?

Actually you are behind Ronin and Star… you have well over 2 thousand posts more than me. Star is only a few hundred ahead of you, but good like catching up to RoninChaos. The white man holds us all back.

OK that matches what I think of the album-- classic? No way! (I’ve heard better Common albums than this) But it’s still pretty tight, especially if you’re as tired of G-Unit/Shady Aftermath/Lil John beats/etc. as I am.

You don’t like Kanye West?

That’s because it doesn’t have any meaning to it. Atleast to me. It’s just straight goofy or whatever.

My last day of home time…back to VA I go… I sure was hoping to be connected in ATL, but instead I go to Charlotte. Sigh, when I get the chance to come home, I always have all these great ideas. But most of them never come about. Anyways, I’m flying back at 3:30 today, but I’m not as down; kinda excited to see my buds. My leave ends Tuesday at 0700, so I think I’m going to rent a sweet at our base.

Song for the Day : In a Sentimenal Mood – Duke Ellington

                                       ~ Ton

In general, I’m tired of the majority of hip hop out, and that’s why I like it. I enjoyed Mos Def’s album as well. Talib Kweli’s was alright, but god damn, some rappers should just not fucking sing.

Anyway, how’s england treating you, yo?

For some reason this made me think of Wyclef and Lauryn Hill - Wyclef has a pretty decent voice (I can picture him doing a lot of reggae for whatever reason) and should sing more… Lauryn Hill should sing less and rap more… I don’t know, some old thought I had a long time ago.

I’m tired of it. England’s too expensive and too boring, with too many scandalous assed females. I was planning on a summer Euro trip but all my friends are either too busy or too broke to join me. I’m about to take a break and stay by folks in the States for a month or two.

Oh, I meant just in the Late Night thread. Star’s got the most posts in here, with 716. Ducky, you’re second with 536. Then I’ve got 315. Then tonda with 255.
