Alex’s awesome Venus artwork! The print job on the final stick is darker than this.
– YES, the artwork is by Alex Ahad, and is an original composition just for this project!
– The stick is a MadCatz TE that is dual-modded with a Phreakmods Cerberus board, so it automatically detects between XBox 360 and PS3!
– The stick is not new, but it’s in excellent condition. I buy sticks off people, restore them, and sell them for profit. This is one of the sticks I was going to sell. I decided to donate it for the cause because I felt bad that all I could contribute was a measly $5. This is worth MUCH (much much) more than that.
– As for my credentials, I’m regarded as one of the best stick modders in the scene today. I was even nominated as 2012 Arcade Stick Modder of the Year by SRK Tech Talk.
– I back up all of my products with a lifetime labor warranty. If it breaks, you ship it to me and the labor is on the house. All you’ll ever have to pay for is shipping and replacement parts!
– The joystick is a Sanwa JLF, and the buttons are the standard Sanwa that are in Japanese arcade cabs.
– Sadly, I had no pink buttons on hand, but if the winner wants to get some, I’ll gladly install them for free before shipping it.
Some neat/amusing trivia:
– When I went to the FedEx Office store to print this, the lady did a double-take at the art. She asked what it was for, and I told her about Skullgirls and the charity drive. She printed the artwork for free!
– My blood and sweat has literally gone into this. No, really… it was hot as balls in here, and I gashed my middle finger open while cutting the artwork. I cleaned it out, don’t worry!
For those who do not know already know, Kaiji the VA for the Egret is getting his tattoo (Designed by Alex Ahad) on stream live tomorrow night. Lets enjoy the Show ^-^
More Details Here its gonna be on the Little Kuriboh Stream
I’ve lived in California all my life, and I’ve seen plenty of charity raffles. Heck, my local church did them at their fall festival practically every year.
Having that DBZ guy on was a treat, as was watching you try to learn the game since I’m at the same point in my learning of the game. Overall good stream!
However, some things I’d like to ask you:
Please provide proof that you were DDoS’d.
Please provide proof that the Smash community was behind it.
You’re claim is as baseless as the claim made about us donating $2,500 dollars by fanatiq because we were younger, less mature, and are doing it because we think it will stop you from donating (paraphrasing)
We planned the trihex donation drive before we even knew yours was planned and were going to donate it regardless of if you made a dollar or ten thousand dollars. I don’t pretend that our community is perfect, but please don’t use stuff that you have zero proof of to slander us.
This makes me very sad. You seem like an extremely level headed guy but you don’t seem to be following what’s actually going on at all.
Why don’t you go read the thread that you are referring to and see all of the people from the Melee community that aren’t just trolls actually shutting down the idiots that sabotaged the reddit instead of throwing the community into on category. It was completely uncalled for and distasteful, and it came from a very undesirable part of our community. I apologize on behalf of the community, but it was not members of the community of any note and was mostly forum trolls doing it for laughs. Thread here: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=333315
Seriously people. DDoS? Get a grip.
That said, is the DBZ guy gonna be on the next stream again? I’d like to give him more of my money.
I have put more than I would like to say to the donation over this, was it a 2 weeks, felt like it?
I just don’t have the money to “go for broke” again, but a nigga can spare 10 dollars for a chance.
Either way, thanks for the contribution, dude, it’s really nice of you, not even about SG at this point, what you’re doing is PURE charity. (By ‘pure’ I mean ‘nope, not fucking with anything else’, not "the other way is corrupt’)
Ok first off i didn’t refer the WHOLE Melee community as a whole. I believe I stated MANY times that trolls exist on both sides of this thing throughout the many threads on this donation drive topic. I don’t believe i ever stated that this DDoS was some Organized scheme setup by the leading figures of Smashboards to one up us.
However, Personally it was extremely likely(Just an educated hunch nothing more) given the circumstances that some individual/small group did INDEED do it with his/her own agenda(Again not representing Melee views) and wanted to personally screw with SG efforts . A Twitch Cop even came and suggested to change The IP address due to the flood of packets that may or may not have happened, we were off for about 5-7 min i think. Please don’t be that naive to easily dismiss the possibility of a DDoS attack. Do you speak for the honesty of your entire community? What Arrogance
The Point: **NO **I doubt it was some organized Melee Attack that was planning the DDoS, However its way more likely then not that some individual/small group decided to act alone to either help smash and/or screw SG. Im not that naive to think it was all coincidence
About the Reddit issue, **Again **Not representing Smash as a whole, however sabotaging that Reddit Page WAS a low blow regardless. It was not a lie at all. We had LoL VA’s on Stream who were using their voices to help Breast Cancer. There was **NO **need to advertise Smash or the other games in our reddit. They could have created and promoted their own Reddit to promote Breast Cancer. Instead they decided to ride out coattails and advertise to downvote everything for the sake of Melee
The Point: Not blaming the **WHOLE **Melee community, however there **ARE **people in your community who would take it upon themselves to do dishonorable things.
In any case YOU should not jump to conclusions assuming we (especially me) jump to conclusions. Also, Duckie is probably gonna Nuke these posts anyway
i think im going to make a donation when i get home from work on thursday. i would just kick myself if SG lost to melee by like 40 dollars and knew i could have been the difference between a win/loss.
everybody else should think the same thing. Would it be worth losing EVO for 15 dollars?
alright, I bought that 10 dollar Sanshee poster, I contributed :3
I truly wish the best of luck to Mike Z and the stream on the 31st, Ill try to watch it if I can
I know Im new on SRK but I love fighters, especially SG so lets hold our breath and rally together to make this happen
Damn that sucks, it seems like there would be ways around it though since the money is going towards a non-profit, not LZ, and you’re just hosting the event. But I don’t know shit about the legal system so I’ll just have to trust your decision.
Yep, an extra ten dollars on top of whatever we were planning to donate can only help. Multiply that by a hundred people playing it safe and we’ve got 1k there alone.
KEEP IT ON TOPIC IN HERE, that’s to everyone. Remember there’s that other thread for discussion/shittalk/accusations/whatever else.
I also suggest people stop blaming other people for things, because really? (^.^)
Stick - as far as I can find out, raffles are illegal in CA unless you’re a registered nonprofit and are also illegal if conducted online. However, being a jerk isn’t illegal and giveaways in which an individual doesn’t have to pay for a chance to win are okay, so here’s what I’ll do: It’ll be randomly awarded to someone in the chat after the Evo contest is over with no donation requirement, however since I’ll be too busy to keep track of the people in the chat I strongly suggest you submit an email with an attached donation receipt of at least ten bucks so that I (as a busy, selfish person who wants SG in Evo) can be reminded that your name is worth remembering. Also it might be fifteen bucks. :^P
Artbook - I had the same idea Cellsai did, since we’d like the max amount of donations: Donate and send in your receipt amount to be included in the auction, and every so often I’ll read off something close to the average donation amount, and the winner will be the largest donation after the Evo contest is over.
And no, you cannot apply the same amount to both, plus you must clearly designate which thing with email subjects I’ll decide on stream.
Howzat sound?
BTW, if the margin of error is 1% (fairly reasonable for a noise floor), anything closer than $300 out of $30k can be truthfully called “random chance.” :^)
