So, not only they are taking care of something that is out of their jurisdiction(this is not an olympic sport), they are also trying to operate out of their area of effect(the US).
Something is fishy

Seems fishy, I won’t say he hasn’t ever but come on, that’s hella suspect. Fucking every god damn organization is out to ruin everything.
Good thing we have people stopping other people from taking certain substances.
Otherwise it would be a serious threat to the legitimacy of watching grown men play with balls and ride their bikes.
Why the fuck don’t we just allow steroids and shit already??? I wanna see someone bench press a ton and bust a blood vessel or something.
I hope you have kids someday who wanna play sports
Just give me two things and I will be happy with sports again: All robot sports leagues (Humanoid, none of that gay box shit people use now) and Blernsball.
I believe they basically told him to give up, or he was going to lose even harder, no matter the truth.
You cannot stand up to criminal s in organizations like that.
Not when they are backed by the Federal government.
YAY for the Patriot Act, and all that.
Giving mobsters even more sway in professional sports.
This is a pretty common thought and I don’t blame you for thinking it, but one thing to consider is exactly how stressful and time-consuming fighting a case with an organization or governing body with a lot of manpower and money is.
When my mother sued the USPS for 5 million dollars for wrongful termination, the case lasted for over 5 years, and it took a lot out of her. There are a ton of forms to file, meetings to take, and in her case, she had private detectives (really bad ones, BTW) posing as confidants trying to get into her home and find something incriminating as well as being arrested for no reason (cops barged into her home and just arrested her). When she the case got dismissed due to a technicality, she was more relieved than anything.
I’m not saying that Lance Armstrong was innocent (I simply do not know), but when you have the cloud of a high-stakes case hanging over your head for years, it saps the spirit from you: you start to ask yourself “what am I fighting for?”. I can certainly understand if, in Lance’s case, he stopped caring about public opinion and instead wants to move on with the rest of his life.
your mom has 5 million dollars? :o
is she single?
She lost the case. She doesn’t have 5 million, I’m afraid.
One of the things that really ticks me off about these stories is that people get nabbed after the event - and with this one so long after. Do drugs, compete, and then, after you’ve cashed in on the glory and married a rock star we’ll strip you of the title.
The fact is that most top-level athletes are freaks of some variety. I wonder how much of one you’d have to be before pro sports decided not to allow you.
Who gives a shit if he did drugs, especially when everybody else is doing them. it’s fucking retarded to even waste a single second on this shit. and this, for the “integrity of sport” bullshit doesn’t fly, especially when the winners are the only ones that are tested. The fuck of with that weak ass shit

I dont see it o_O
I suppose I should clarify and state I would like to only see this applied to professional athlete. Baseball would at least be more interesting.
next five guys down been busted too at one point. cycling is on some anti-doping vendetta shit these past 10 years
possibly. my vote goes to eddy merckx though: the lance armstrong of his day but more well-rounded
Wtf are you people getting all “winners don’t use drugs” for? He never admitted to doing drugs, he said he’s finished with the whole nonsensical process of having to prove himself innocent time and time and again. It’s like the Salem witch trials, if someone calls you a witch over and over, and you constantly have to go through some dumbass process of proving your not a witch, you draw a line where enough is enough. Like they did with the Witch trials, when you draw that line and speak out, your pointed out as a “witch”.
He’s right, this is a witch hunt. He has to defend himself year after year, and put himself through the same arduous process just so they can accuse him again next year.
I agree with that, the emotional strain it has on people is ridiculous. He fought this for two years, and the fact that he was the most well known, established bicyclist in the United States would’ve caused serious media hounding to not only himself but his entire family as a result of this. Again, to those whom have never fought such things simply have no idea.
Your example of your mother is a great one, and I personally had an Uncle whom was clearly in the right (won’t tell the situation for privacy reasons) and fought the fight. However the result strained his family relationship, eventually leading to the divorce of his wife, and the shattering of his family. When you reach that point, ask yourself, is it really worth it to lose all of that simply to keep your good name? For me, absolutely not.
The fact is, just simply because he stopped does not mean he’s now guilty. I find that preposterous because firstly, we need 100% solid proof that Lance did indeed use drugs to give him the advantage. All of this grey-area nonsense being used for allegations against him I find ridiculous, because this isn’t like what we saw with athletes to where there was straight up evidence to prove that they used drugs. The simple fact that we don’t have any proper evidence besides a grey-area notion and a few people willing to point fingers makes me think otherwise.
Even the very group of USADA has yet to come out publicly with sample test that was 100% definitive stating he was using drugs. Which again I find very shady because if you’re going to strip a man of everything that he did, where is the proof to take such a thing away, until then I will say Lance is innocent until proven guilty. That’s like saying someone is a convicted murderer with shoddy evidence that isn’t even enough to prove that they were the most likely culprits and we’ve certainly done that many times already. At this moment this is completely foul garbage to me until I see real proof, then I’ll change my opinion otherwise.
For me personally, I applaud this man to simply say “Eff this, I’m done” and to really think of what’s more important. #1. His Family #2. His charity towards helping those with Cancer…Now that to me is a real man, because on the long run, that’s 100x more important then trying to clear your name if you truly were on the right, and what should matter is those around you who saw you do it legitimately.
